Congratulations to Carl, I hope it leads to bigger and better things like last year. First race for Steve Wallace with Johnny Benson's championship crew chief Trip Bruce, and he almost scores a top 5. Very good run for Erik Darnell who will probably win a race this year. Nice finish for Almirola as well. 2. CarlEdwards99 posted: 06.21.2009 - 11:08 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) great side by side racing. Maybe the best race of the year for side by side racing. Edwards had the best car the first 50 laps, Busch had the best car the next 125 and Carl had the best the last 75 and got the pass with about 45 to go and never looked back. 3. Unproven drivers Erik Darnell, Stephen Leicht, and Ricky Stenhouse were battling for the lead at a non-Cup track. They were not only competing for the race, but trying to prove that they belong on the Top level. This was what REAL Busch Series racing used to be all about. Then Kyle and Carl came to the front and screwed everything up. Although it was just the two of them, it was just another Cup Lite event. They got on their planes and flew 1,600 miles to make sure that nobody else other than Cup guys got the spotlight. But at least, as Bronco alluded to, Carl was very gracious about it. He talked about what a pleasure it is to fly in a really nice plane and drive for two really good teams. Kyle, on the other hand, continued to be a complete ass. As usual. He has an entire team build and set up his race car while he is in California so he can just show up (on his expensive private jet) and race the best equipment in the Series, then acts like a spoiled child afterwards. But I wanna give a shout out to the Roush guys, Darnell and Stenhouse. Erik dropped like a rock at the beginning from the pole, but he didn't panic, let his team make adjustments, and he raced his way back to 4th. He also did a hell of a job holding Kyle off for a long time. He already has looked WAY better in that #6 car than David Ragan ever has. I think he has a good future if used properly. Also a shout out to Aric Almirola. In that car, it was a GREAT job. I noticed John Wrecks Weekly DNQed. Did he wreck again, or was he just slow? 4. Is Mike Joy the only guy in the media that has the balls to call this guy out for the spoiled punk he is? 5. (Which is saying something, as I can't stand McClure) Go home already Edwards. You won a championship. Focus on your Cup car instead. 6. The problem was Kyle Busch and Cal Edwards stunk up the show after the first caution. The first half of the race had great battles for the lead. There was no big gaps from 1st to 2nd unlike after the first caution. Darnell, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Brad Coleman,Stephen Leicht and Brad Keselowski provided the excitement for the lead through out first half of the race. This race proved that you could have great racing during long green flag runs. What happened after the first caution was Kyle Busch or Edwards stretched the lead to long distances when they were leading. 7. I heard the qualfiying of the go or go home drivers from the loud speakers when I was headed to my seats. 8. Anonymous posted: 06.21.2009 - 3:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I heard some the drivers qualifying from the go and go home bunch from me walking into the game and up the stairs. I am pretty sure I heard John qualifying like I said previously. I didn't hear most the qualifying since I was either sitting in a shaded area to protect myself since the suntan lotion I used didn't help part of my neck and arms during the truck race. 9. Actually it seems like the FOX guys make excuses for him too, especially Darrell. Kyle Petty is the only person I have heard call him out. He was pretty hard on him after his guitar smashing fiasco. "I didn't hear most the qualifying since I was either sitting in a shaded area to protect myself since the suntan lotion I used didn't help part of my neck and arms during the truck race." If you're not careful, you can burn the hell out of yourself at a race. I go to Martinsville twice a year, and I get burned like hell if I don't use sun lotion, even if it isn't hot. I have front stretch seats, and the way the sun sets behind Turn 1, it burns the whole right side of my face. I call it my Martinsville Stripe! 10. Anonymous posted: 06.22.2009 - 12:05 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) DaleSrFanForever, I know what you talking about sun lotion at race tracks. I once got myself even worse with a sun burn 11 years ago at Nascar Truck race at the Milwaukee Mile with great seats on the front stretch. It was first Nascar race I ever attened after being a Nascar fan starting in the early 1990's after following CART series. I didn't burn myself for 1999 to before the Truck race Yesterday. I went to Milwaukee Mile truck and Busch/Nationwide races since 1998. I brought extra sun lotion along and lotion for sun burns for just in case after what happened to me during the Day Truck race in 1998. That is why I was in shade using the type of lotion for sun burns before adding more sun lotion on for the Nationwide race. 11. I just wish him and the TNT crew would get to broadcast more races throughout the year. I'm not going to lie, I'm no fan of Dale Jarrett's commentary. I wish Shrub would get to drive for Curtis Key's 40 or some other equally low end team. I'm sure he would then start appreciating 2nd place finishes a lot more. He can have all the talent in the world, but there is one thing he will never have - RESPECT. 12. Larry Mac and DW makes excuses for him, but Joy did a good job of calling him out during the Dover cup race for not staying around for interviews after he losses. Joy ranted on for about 5 minutes about it and mentioned it again a couple times later in the race. I did forget about Kyle Petty though, he deserves props too for being one of the few guys in the media that will call him out. 13. Great runs for Darnell, Stenhouse, Leicht, Hornaday, Almirola, and Sellers.....Awsome watching the busch guys battle for the lead. 14. WallaceFan posted: 06.22.2009 - 5:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Probably best career race for Steve. Started 28th, slowly moved up threw the field...after first long run he made it to top 15. Then during the middle to the end of the 2nd long run he had the absolute best car on the track. He was running over 2/10 of a second better than Kyle and the whole field. Made it up to 4th, but after a few cautions dropped back down to 6th, not a good short run car. Anyways what an awsome race, lot of great runs for great guys. 15. Too bad he cant get a better car. 16. DaleSrFanForever posted: 06.23.2009 - 11:12 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "KP is the man. He's brutally honest no matter what. I would like to see Kyle replace him, but I doubt ESPN would let him say the things he says on TNT. They are so buttoned up and politically correct. TNT presents the races straight up. It is a race, and we are treating it as such. FOX and ESPN treat it like a reality show with all the bells and whistles. I don't think Kyle would be capable of conforming to that crap, which makes him all the more awesome. We just need TNT to cover more of the NASCAR season! 17. As of July 2, track has laid off all 12 people. I hope it is the last race at this pathetic track. 20. jamie88fan posted: 01.26.2010 - 8:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) GET RID OF THE START AND PARKS EVERY RACE THE 90 AND THE 91 ONE OF THEM ARE USUALY THE 1 ONE OUT PUT THE CAR AFTER ONE LAP WHEN U HAVE CARS THAT HAVE SPONSERS NOT MAKEING THE RACE FOR ONE REASON OR THE OTHER.. 21. rob posted: 01.04.2011 - 3:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) could have been the race that made a name for peyton sellers. unfortunately , a speeding penalty on pit road illed his chances at a possible top five run. 22. Here's a list of those drivers: #18 - Johnny Sauter (sub for Kyle Busch) #60 - Colin Braun (sub for Carl Edwards) Neither Edwards nor Busch got any track time in Milwaukee prior to the race. It didn't matter though, as they combined to lead 126 of the 250 laps and finished 1-2, respectively. 26.
