Carl had a good car, but his pit crew dropped at least three lug nuts on the lap 107 pit stops. God call by Mark Reno to keep Mike Bliss on the track under the last caution and picked him up about five spots. Cup teammates Vickers and Speed crashed in the last turn. Vickers was trying to pass Bliss for fourth when he got loose on the inside and had to check up and Speed ran into the back of him. Vickers roughed up Speed on the cool down lap and they had a discussion on pit road. 2. Jason Leffler's 11th consecutive top 10. I wasn't aware of how great of a season he's been having. But he's finished in the top 15 in all but one race. (33rd at Daytona) 3. I don't like the guy but he has been a model of consistentcy. 4. Dodge posted: 06.28.2009 - 1:05 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) I missed the race but I did see a replay of the Vickers/Speed incident. I am glad that somebody finally called out Speed. I said last year in the comments for the last ARCA race how I felt about Speed. He is a jerk. He is cocky considering his limited NASCAR experience. I believe he is only in NASCAR because Red Bull thinks this clown has the talent. 5. Great runs by Speed and Vickers, Darnell again (who also had his front end torn up in that altercation). 6. Thats Hendrick for ya. 8. John posted: 06.28.2009 - 4:57 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Brad Keselowski Mr. Consistency! 9. First off he's not a Nationwide regular racing for points so it shouldn't matter where he finishes. Looking at the replay, it seems like Vickers had to chase his car up the track because he got loose under Bliss, and Scott Slow ran into the back of him. But honestly, to relate Scott Slow's lack of success in the Cup series to a simple Nationwide spin was just idiotic, and it was nothing more than a cheap shot. But hey, what else do you expect from a fool who tries driving someone else into the grass at Daytona? I guess Brian sometimes needs someone to remind him that his only success as a Cup driver came as a result of spinning the leader(s) out. Funny, I don't remember Dale Jr talking about how much Brian sucked as a Cup driver back at Talladega in 2006. Scott Slow puzzles me. He ran pretty well in the trucks last year, and he runs well in the Nationwide series, but for some reason he's a flop in Cup. Rusty you're right, Leffler is having a very impressive season. Hope he gets a win soon, he deserves it. 10. DaleSrFanForever posted: 06.28.2009 - 6:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) You guys know me, I'm not a Scott Slow fan by any stretch of the imagination. But with that being said, Vickers was totally out of line in this situation. He got loose under Bliss in the last corner and came back to Scott Slow. Scott Slow clearly backed off to try to avoid it as he lost many positions after the contact. That was a racing incident. NASCAR really needs to penalize Brian for ramming Scott Slow's car so many times after the race. The crew members worked hard on that car and now they will have to fix it. That is unnecessary and totally classless. He'll go back to flying on private jets, staying in million dollar motorhomes and riding with Red Bull stunt pilots while those crew members toil away for much less pay. Besides, this is the same Brian Vickers who has TWICE wrecked cars ON THE STRAIGHTAWAY!! In the Talladega 2006 race and the 2005 All Star qualifying race. At least Scott Slow wrecked him in the corner. And the crack about Scott Slow running bad in the Cup Series was ironic. While it is true, this is the same Brian Vickers who ran mid pack for three years AT HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS!!!! He has no room to say anything. 11. Maybe he is slowly making some progress, finishing four laps down. First NNS start for Chase Mattioli. 12. Most guys would have done the same move. But anyways...yeah Vickers was out of line becuase it was just a racing incident. 13. First of all the competition in Nationwide and the Trucks are severly watered down in the last few years. Only a handful of teams are well funded like the rides he's been driving. And secondly, he drives for Toyota which has a HUGE advantage in Nationwide and the Trucks. That advantage is leveled out in Cup. 18.
