I think Ragan could of been (and still may be) a heck of a driver if he was allowed to go up through the ranks in normal time. But with the whole deal with the 6 car a few years ago, he was forced up to Cup before even getting his feet wet in the truck series. Despite that, he has still had success at times in cup and nationwide. 2. Heck he led almost as many laps in this race as he did in his career until this point. Two of the last three races have been shitty finishes for both the 1 and 11 teams after they fired their regular drivers. Good, they deserve it. Paul Menard does a great job to come from almost missing the race to finishing 9th. McDowell gets his second top 10 in a car that ran like crap the whole season. Matt Carter also gets a good finish for an underfunded team. 3. Austin cut a tire right as Kyle took the lead and went to lap the 07, but the 07 apparently lost steering and collected Kyle, and sent him in the outside wall. 4. Best run by Michael Annett this year. Micheal McDowell had a great run for a time that doesn't run good most of the year. I think McDowell might need another look at as a driver after getting 2 top 10's in 4 races in the 26. Best run by the 61 team all year long. Chase Austin is over his head as a race car driver. I am not a Kyle Busch fan, but Chase is not ready to a be Nationwide driver and was dumb move by him. I considered the wreck he caused the dumbest since Kevin Lepage at Talladega. Great comeback by Brad Keselowski after he got repairs for getting into Justin Allgaier. Penske is getting a great replacement for the 12 car in cup with Brad. 5. Ragan has looked like pure crap this year, but he did an outstanding job on one of the toughest tracks out there. He just flat out beat everyone. Congrats to him, he earned it. Keselowski makes a mistake that ruins a great run by Justin Allgaier. Kes manned up and admitted to it, but it sucks for Justin. I think he will be a good one of they don't rush him, and luckily it looks like they won't Looks like Brad will drive the #12 Cup car next year (can't believe Tony didn't pick him up) and Justin will spend another year learning in the NWide Series. That is the way it should be. Did aliens inhabit Kyle Busch last night? After a horrible (and as Dave said, a hilarious) break he was classy and calm as he thanked his crew for their hard work and said it was just a racing deal. When he initially stormed back into his hauler, JD Gibbs must have been waiting there to inject him with enough sedatives to knock an elephant out. "Two of the last three races have been shitty finishes for both the 1 and 11 teams after they fired their regular drivers. Good, they deserve it" I totally agree with this Bronco. I have taken cruel pleasure watching their struggles. 7. I'm glad Harvick didn't win after he spun out Trevor Bayne for no reason. Some notes: -Paul Menard nearly DNQ'd but ends up with a top 10. -Matt Carter with an outstanding 12th place finish. -Michael McDowell with another good finish, I think he was thrown into Cup last year with no experience, he's doing a good job this year. As far as the 1 and 11 go. I totally agree about the 1, firing Bliss for Ryan Newman and Reed Sorenson to run is horrible. I understand the 11 though, Lagasse wasn't doing anything and now they have Brian Scott in the car who has more potential. 10. Anyways, it was a really good race. You all know me as a Ragan detractor but the only contending driver who deserves it more than him is Brad Keselowski because Brad isn't a buschwhacker. That Busch wreck was hilarious. I laughed my ass off. He deserved it 11. WallaceFan posted: 08.22.2009 - 1:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bad race to be a leader. Brad Keselowski wrecks Justin Allgaier while leading...Allgaier may have had a shot to win as he had a great car. Then Kyle is leading and Austin came down and took him out...Kyle seemed calm about it...that was different. Great job to Ragan, great runs for Annett, Menard, McDowell and Matt Carter. 12. WallaceFan posted: 08.22.2009 - 1:58 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Tough one for Steve....moved up in front of Kahne but wasnt clear, puncturing Kahnes radiator. Steve fell back and never really recovered. Later he got into the back of a slower Reutimann causing a tire rub. Then On the last lap he got into the back of Wimmer and spun him and the race ended under caution. Before the race RWI announced 5Hour Energy will sponsor Steve in all 35 races next year. Also Kes will drive the 12 car. 13. Bronco posted: 08.22.2009 - 2:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "As far as the 1 and 11 go. You have to understand though that Scott Lagasse was just a rookie with an average team, so firing him was unjustified. They should have at least let him finish out the season. And the 1 team is a real headscratcher. Finch obviously thinks his team is a lot better than it is after that Talladega win and somehow thought that Mike Bliss should be running better in his crap cars. In both cases, I don't understand the point in firing a fulltime driver for a merry go round of other drivers. That's the sort of crap that kills any team chemistry and momentum. 14. Yeah, I agree he's going to be one of guys I keep a real close eye on. "Did aliens inhabit Kyle Busch last night? If you could tell by the way he was talking he looked like he wanted to scream and say Chase Austin is an ***. 15. "I'm glad Harvick didn't win after he spun out Trevor Bayne for no reason." I forgot about that. Not only was it uncalled for, Kevin screwed himself by doing so. With that many laps left and green flag stops coming up, and how good that car was on that long run, he totally screwed himself. It allowed the other guys to pit with him under caution, make adjustments to their cars, and jumble the running order. You've got the best car on long runs and you cause a caution 30 laps from the end. If I were Richard Childress, I'd say don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out (while secretly hoping it does). 16. I'm glad Havoc didn't win either after that! Trevor Bayne has a great future ahead of him, but he needs all of the good finishes he can possibly get right now due to having fewer starts in Nationwide than most. 18. Bayne and other guys were doing there job by also racing and trying to hold off the leader, but Kev got tired of it. 19. He is like a less talented Kyle Busch. 20. Canadian Tire Series points leader Andrew Ranger is going to drive the car at Montreal and has a shot at winning the race. 21. Anywas shame that this was Danny O' Quinn Jrs last ride in a non start and park team. He is a talented kid who just got screwed by Roush. And he was actually running 9th I believe before he got wrecked out. That could have been what frusturated him to quit, it was his best run all year till that happened 23. I've been combing through old Nationwide races the last few days and I was disappointed this wasn't one of them.
