The Nationwide COT gets a B grade from me. The drafting remained me of Truck races but i think the teams will so get the hang of the new car. 3. Steve Wallace, the driver I've picked on mercilessly, caused the late caution that allowed my favorite active driver to beat his arch rival, which wouldn't have happened were it not for that caution. Can somebody say "irony"? I really like these new cars. It's true, the race wasn't that great but there were two factors working against it. First of all it was at Michigan, a track that never puts on good racing for extended periods of time. And secondly the gap between the teams that have it figured out and those that don't is still really big. Hopefully it will close up soon. But the cars look fantastic. Can Kryle Busch ever not be a d**k? 4. Mike posted: 08.14.2010 - 10:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Total domination by Brad. He was untouchable for most of the race. I was very impressed with Ryan Truex's performance. I think he showed he has a lot of potential in NASCAR. John Wes Townley earns his 9th top 20 finish. WTG John! 5. Well, I guess armageddon has been upon us like 7 times already. This isn't the first time... or the second time... or the third time... and it's not like the 09 is a consistent lead lap finisher when other drivers are in the car. 6. Every time he doesn't win, ther's always something wrong, be it his crew, his car or something. It's never just the fact that he didn't have the car to win, it's always someone else's fault. He never takes responsibility for whenever he has something go wrong, that's Kyle and he's not stopping. I hate it just as much as you. 8. 18fan posted: 08.15.2010 - 2:49 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I thought I would mention one thing. Whenever any of the Gibbs cars dominate Nationwide races, everyone complains about how much more power they have. It was very obvious in this race how much more power Brad had than anybody else down the straightaways. I really don't like watching Carl Edwards run a Valvoline car for Jack Roush with a similar paint scheme to Mark Martin's from the mid-90s. I am a big fan of races from the mid 90s and it just doesn't seem right for anyone to run a car with that scheme, especially Carl. 9. Bronco posted: 08.15.2010 - 6:31 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Congrats on a dominating Nationwide win BK. Maybe if you get really lucky and have the cautions and lucky dogs and wave around fall your way, you'll get a top 25 finish in the Cup race. Chevrolet screwed up big time by sticking with the ugly Impala look instead of going with the Camaro. I hope they fix that for next year. 10. DaleSrFanForever posted: 08.15.2010 - 10:05 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Kyle has been a d**k since 2007 and shows no stopping any time soon." You are absolutely right. I guess I just keep thinking, at some point, he'll show SOME signs of maturity, but like you said, there are no signs that will happen in the near future. I just wonder if he realizes how good he has it. Those #18 cars are incredible. A "bad" day for them, like this race when they were clearly outclassed by the #22 and the #60, they still finished 3rd. How many people would commit felonies to be given his talent and amazing situation? 11. Cooper posted: 08.15.2010 - 10:42 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kyle on his dominating win at Bristol: "Car was terrible, just not drivable, just the normal stuff, my crew stunk, and I had to carry my team once again" The dude is a giant A-Hole and I would have to believe he's a total buzz kill to be around. Brad on the other hand, didn't need a clutch and was very patriotic. I believe in every win this year he has taken the American Flag out and celebrated. That's seems to be his normal victory celebration. How bout that Dodge power. Dodge has proved that if you want a high performance car/truck Dodge is the place to go. Unfortunately 95% of the population is buying toy cars that get 2000 miles to the gallon. Brad has finished in the Top 10 in all but three races this season. In those three races; he was in the Top 10 with 2 laps to go or less. Now Brad, please win your championship and focus on Cup next year. You're driving the #2 Miller Lite car, don't embarrass it's history by running 20th. 12. rw posted: 08.15.2010 - 11:41 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "How bout that Dodge power. Keselowski and Busch will retain their current crew chiefs and crews. Only the team numbers and sponsors are changing for 2011." 14. RCRandPenskeGuy posted: 08.15.2010 - 12:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I, for one am glad that final caution came out because there was no way Brad was winning this race (despite having a dominant car) if not for that. As for Kyle, it's going to be a while (if ever) for him to mature. The guy is still only 25 years old. I think his mentality is that since he has some of the best cars in this series, he should be winning every single race. However, sometimes even when he does win (like the example Cooper posted), he's still a total d**k. Like Cooper also said, compare that to the way Brad celebrates a win. "Now Brad, please win your championship and focus on Cup next year. You're driving the #2 Miller Lite car, don't embarrass it's history by running 20th." You are absolutely right. It's already bad enough that he doesn't have a top-10 finish in 22 races this season with a (supposedly) better team than others had with the #12 in the past. He needs to just focus on doing the best he can in Cup next year. 15. DaleSrFanForever posted: 08.15.2010 - 4:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Now Brad, please win your championship and focus on Cup next year." Exactly. Today in the Cup race they broke their splitter and either didn't even realize it was broken, or were unable to fix it. Both of which are unacceptable. Penske has proven they can build really fast race cars with Kurt Busch and Brad has proven he can run up front in Cup while he was with HMS' part time team. Now they need to come together and firgure out how to do it together. "but what's the difference if the same guys dominant from cup" None, but hopefully NASCAR will fix that part of it next year. It's just that these new cars are the first positive thing to happen in this Series in SOOOOOO long, a lot of us are pretty excited about it. And hopefully the rumors of a Cup Cap are true and we can FINALLY see the stars of tomorrow being developed through this Series for the first time in a long time. 21. Brad has Bristol-Ran Well in Spring Brad has Atlanta-Ran awesome in Spring Brad has Richmond-Ran Good in Spring The next three weeks should be dynamite for the #12 team. Don't know if I'd go so far as to say they'll be "dynamite", but I think they will be crucial. As a new team, this is the point of the year when they get to return to tracks for the 2nd time together and theoretically should improve. Of the tracks they have returned to already, it's been hard to get a gauge. At Daytona, he blew a tire in the 500 real early, so its hard to judge his promising run in the Fircracker 400 against that. And at Michigan, he broke a splitter so we don't know what would have happened. Pocono was pretty much the same as the earlier race. If they don't start showing improvement, especially over the next few weeks, they may want to consider some changes. 28. It makes it back-to-back 4 win seasons for Brad and with different teams to boot. It's also the 3rd straight season he's had at least 20 top tens. It's Keselowski's 50th top five in 127 career Nationwide starts, but all have been in his last 89 starts for a top five finishing percentage of 56.2%. Keselowski joins Mark Martin, Todd Bodine, Ryan Newman and Dale Earnhardt Jr. as the only two time Nationwide winners at Michigan, and joins Dale Jr. and Newman (Newman won in 2 consecutive starts at Michigan, 2001 and 2005) to win back-to-back Michigan races. Carl Edwards gets his 3rd top 2 finish in the last 5 races. It's just his 3rd top five in 6 Michigan starts, but they're all podium finishes. Kyle Busch gets his 11th straight top ten in his starts, 10 of them in the top five. But it's the first race that he hasn't led in 2010. Kyle needs just 2 more top fives to reach 100 for his career. Justin Allgaier gets his 6th top five of the year, already doubling his total from his rookie season. It's the 5th time this year he's finished 4th, but Reed Sorenson is the only Nationwide regular to finish ahead of him in any of those races; the other races had Cup drivers filling the top 3. Allgaier's 6 top fives tie Reed Sorenson for the most by a regular this season, but is the most of any regular who hasn't driven in Cup in 2010. Paul Menard gets just his 3rd top five of the season, 2nd in the last 5 races. Joey Logano gets his 14th top ten in 15 starts this season; he has the best top 10 finishing % of the year of anyone at 93.3%. Elliott Sadler gets his first top ten in Nationwide since 2005 (a span of 16 starts for Elliott), which was a 9th at Texas. Reed Sorenson gets his 13th top ten in 17 starts this season. It's the 19th top ten for the #32 team this year, 2nd only to the #22. Colin Braun was the highest finishing rookie in 9th, his 4th top ten in 18 starts this season which is 2nd most among rookies; Brian Scott has 5. Kevin Harvick suffers his 3rd worst finish of the season in 10th, his 17th top ten in 19 starts. MWR cars finish 11th and 12th with Trevor Bayne and Ryan Truex respectively. It's Truex's best career finish in just his 2nd career start. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. gets his 7th straight finish of 19th or better, which includes 2 top tens. Tayler Malsam gets his 4th top 15 finish in 9 starts this season. JWT gets just his 9th top 20 finish and 7th lead lap finish in 36 career Nationwide starts. Danica Patrick finishes 4 laps down in 27th in her 6th career Nationwide start. Her average running position in the race was 31st. 32. But again, the typical NASCAR Fan expects immediate results while having absolutely NO clue about how long it takes to acclimate to driving a stock car..." Within his first 7 Nationwide starts (2007-2008) Patrick Carpentier had 1 pole, 2 top five and 4 top tens. The pole and top 5's were at road courses but he finished 8th at Las Vegas and Talladega. Patrick was also racing in Cup around that time but had semi-respectable results there too. In Dario's 7th career Nationwide start he finished 6th at Las Vegas (yep, they both finished top 10 in that same race). Also running Cup so it's not their first 7 STOCK CAR starts... Sam Hornish had a best finish of 15th within his first 6 Nationwide starts, and won the pole and finished 2nd at Michigan in his first ARCA start. All from 2006 to 2007. JPM finished 5th in just his 5th career Cup start. Qualified top 3 in his first two ARCA starts and finished 11th in his first career Nationwide start. All from 2006 to 2007. Tony Stewart had 3 top 20 finishes in his first 7 NASCAR starts in 1996, two in 6 Nationwide starts and a 10th place finish in his first career Truck Series start. So compared to that, Danica's results have been pathetic. Some of them were also running Cup, but others had similar experience but were much more competitive to start. Hornish Jr. was jumping back and forth between NASCAR and IRL but was far more up to speed. Most of the rest have one big thing over Danica, and it's that they were committed to stock cars at that point while Danica's jumping back and forth. Frankly she's not talented enough, at least compared to those who made the switch before her, to do both at the same time and it's hurting her results in both NASCAR and IRL (no matter what she says otherwise). She really needs to put up or shut up, commit to one or the other. She'll never catch on to NASCAR like this and she'll continue to suck in the IRL. 38. And I was saying that since she had usually finished in the 30-35 range with little stock car experience in her previous NW starts (with the exception of Chicago where she finished 24th) that it should feel like a good finish for her. "She really needs to put up or shut up, commit to one or the other. She'll never catch on to NASCAR like this and she'll continue to suck in the IRL." Running in both IRL and NASCAR seems to have made her IRL results worse as well. I agree that she needs to just stick to one, because it's really hard to jump back and forth. 39.
