I was so hoping Mike Wallace would've won, but knew it wasn't gonna happen. At least Kyle didn't win. 4. This is a dude with almost no four wheel racing experience in his life, and he comes out in his first Nationwide start and gets a top 20. Danica can't even siff the top 20 despite driving Hendrick equipment. 5. I'd also like to point out that Ricky is only about 20 points ahead of his teammate in Trucks despite having run three more races, so he sure as hell isn't lighting it up in Nascar either. Solid run for Mike Wallace with an unsponsored car, first top 15 since Las Vegas. 6. I'm really looking forward to next year...it's gonna be fun watching a good title race between Almirola, Leffler, Bayne, and Allgaier (granted he gets a ride) Then there is also Gaughan, S.Wallace, Stenhouse, R. Truex and Sadler and Hornish (if they move down a level)...bright future for this series, hopefully not many Cup guys run over 10 races next year, I can only see Brad K, Edwards, Kyle, Joey, Happy, and maybe Menard run over that. 7. martin-n-rusty posted: 10.03.2010 - 6:10 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bronco, I think what RLewis is getting at is that Danica has for most of her racing life, been training on vehicles that had 4 wheels, while by comparison, Ricky Carmichel has had what seems like no expeirence, even compared to everyone else in the field. 8. ii posted: 10.03.2010 - 7:28 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yes, and Trucks are nothing like Nationwide, either. I was hoping for the upset alert, thinking that when Mike saved enough fuel he would run only a quarter second slower than Kyle, but when the caution came out I gave up. I didn't think Keselowski would ever "return the favor" from Talladega, so I turned it off after the last caution. This race had the most lead changes ever in a Nationwide race at Kansas. This has also been the most drivers Jack Roush has ever fielded in a season. 9. NazRacePhan posted: 10.03.2010 - 7:51 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Geee... Taylor Bayne... what a screwing.... decent season for MWR, released because of sponsorship problems (Yet OUT! Pet care sponsors TWO CARS IN ONE RACE)????? Now he gets no points because of a late entry into the race, and is in danger of dropping out of the top 10 in points? NICE...... 10. Cooper posted: 10.03.2010 - 9:55 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think I know what went on between Truex and Waltrip. Waltrip looking for a Level Two driver to fill in the #55 was having trouble acquiring Truex, and Waltrip sweetened the deal. He guaranteed Martin that his little brother would be given a full time ride. Michael needing a replacement driver to hold the seat for a year, just chose Bayne. Now that Ryan is ready to race in the older series, Michael had no other choice but to take Trevor out of the car and put Ryan in. Sounds far fetched but I think that is what went down. Why else would Bayne be taken out? 11. This is a dude with almost no four wheel racing experience in his life, and he comes out in his first Nationwide start and gets a top 20. The reason why Carmichael did so good is he was driving a Toyota. I was expecting him to wreck in the race as it seems like that is what he does the most. One reason why Danica is struggling is that she is going from Indycar to NASCAR, if she would just race NASCAR, I believe she'd be doing better. Also, last week she probably would of had a career best finish had the crew chief did the right thing and call her in when she said that the tire was not feeling right. 12. RCRandPenskeGuy posted: 10.03.2010 - 2:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) If JR Motorsports would have set up a full K&N Pro East schedule or ARCA schedule for Danica, she'd be doing better. She is clearly not ready for this level of NASCAR. Hell, she got a top-10 in her only ARCA and K&N Pro East start. This race was a little exciting, but too bad the usual Cup drivers took up the front spots. 13. Actually, Trevor Bayne left the team on his own volition according to both Michael Waltrip and Trevor himself. The sponsorship problems are in regard to 2011. MWR was aggressively seeking full sponsorship for the 2011 season so that Trevor could run full time for them without it being out of pocket, but it wasn't guaranteed. Roush made a guarantee that Trevor will be full time in 2011 regardless of sponsorship, so Trevor opted to leave the team. Anyone who thinks that Mikey released the kid is wrong. Trevor walked, but with decent reasoning. However, Trevor's move may have hurt him in the long run, because I don't see him racing Roush's Cup cars very long, but the opportunity to drive the 47 once Bobby Labonte vacates it was very good. "Steve Wallace ruined my day with his blatant move that cost my boy Parker Kligerman an epic top-12 finish." I wish the replay went back further. Many people said that Parker just came down in front of him, but I didn't get a good look at it. Parker races like a douchebag more than Steve Wallace does, so I'm not gonna complain about it. 15. potatosalad48 posted: 10.03.2010 - 5:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I was hoping that Mike Wallace could pull it off, oh well. 16. It has been quite a while that he has caused a wreck (Michigan in August with the 23) so one was coming. 17. petty43 posted: 10.03.2010 - 11:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) mike wallace pull it off yeah right. 18. He ran out of fuel on the last lap, giving Justin Labonte his only career win. Good Times. Mike Wallace is awesome. 19. Talon64 posted: 10.04.2010 - 5:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, Mike almost had back-to-back Nationwide wins after he pulled off some last lap heroics at Daytona when Leffler spazzed out and took out Dale Jr. and Mikey. The 10 laps he led were the most he'd led in a Nationwide race since he led 10 laps at Dover in 2007. Joey Logano scores his 8th career Nationwide win, 2nd of the season. He also won his series-leading 6th pole of the season, 13th for his career. Joey's the first driver to record multiple Nationwide wins at Kansas; there had been different winners in the first 9 races there. Brad Keselowski has 20 top fives for the 2nd straight Nationwide season; his 53 career top five have all come in the last 3 seasons (99 starts). Kyle Busch becomes the 8th driver in Nationwide Series history to hit the 100 top five career milestone. He's 34 behind Kevin Harvick for the all time record... After Harvick recorded his 134th career top five in 259 starts. This is Martin Truex Jr.'s first top five in Nationwide since a 2nd place finish at Dover in 2007 driving for DEI. Ricky Stenhouse's rookie-best 6th top ten of the season is enough for him to take the ROTY points lead by 5 points over Brian Scott. It's Ricky's 3rd top ten in the last 4 races and he's 5th among full time drivers, 7th overall, in points scored over the last 7 races (after Watkins Glen which he didn't race at). Justin Allgaier hasn't finished worse than 13th in the last 5 races, including 3 top tens, but not better than 7th. Paul Menard gets his 5th straight top ten finish, tying his career high, and 8th in the last 11 races. Brendan Gaughan's 8th top ten of the season equals his total from his rookie year in 2009. Jason Leffler records back-to-back top tens in the #38 for the first time all season. Ricky Carmichael made his first career Nationwide start, qualifying 12th and finishing on the lead lap in 18th. Tayler Malsam, who was really ROTY in the Trucks last season, made 11 starts in the #10 this season and had 6 top 20 finish, a best of 11th, and a 21.9 average finish. 20. Settled into 11th. 21.
