Justin Allgaier scores his fifth consecutive top 10 finish; it is the second time this season he has accomplished the feat. Allgaier also scored five consecutive top 10 finishes in the first five races of the season. Allgaier also set a career high for laps led in a single race today. In nine starts for JR Motorsports, Josh Wise has finished no worse than 16th. Jeremy Clements gets his first Nationwide Series top ten finish & also led laps for the first time in his Nationwide Series career. Nationwide Series debuts for Brandon McReynolds and Brad Sweet. I also want to mention the great qualifying run Sean Caisse had. A career best for Sean in his eight start. 3. Dover Motorsports has had money issues for the last couple years at least. I think the next track Dover is going to close is Nashville Speedway, or Dover International Speedway after the 2011 racing season. 4. posted: 10.24.2010 - 12:08 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I agree joey2448, Vince Welch showed no enthusiasm at the end of the race. Ricky Craven does a great job in the booth but Welch was just unenthusiastic at the end of the race. It made me wish that the Fox crew or Speed's Rick Allen was calling the race. I'm sure they would have gotten more enthusiastic there at the end. That was some great racing between Sorenson, Bliss, & Brad K at the end. 5. b4il3y posted: 10.24.2010 - 12:08 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) See what happens when we get rid of the whackers... Kenny Wallace gets a solid 13th in a RWR prepared Toyota. This ties his 2nd best finish of the season. Jeremy Clements did an unbelievable job to get a rare top 10 for Johnny Davis Motorsports, only their third in 369 starts and the first to not come at Talladega. Jeff Green runs his first full race since Kentucky. Vinch Welch is no good as a lap by lap announcer, I want Dave Burns. 9. It was cool to see Bliss drive so hard in the last corner trying to get to Brad's bumper. Too many times guys just settle for second in that situation, but Mike went for it. I only turned this race on when I saw that Allgaier was beating Brad with 25 laps to go and I am glad that I did because the finish was excellent. I do want to comment about the Gibbs cars. Whenever Kyle or Joey are in them, they are always leading a bunch of laps, yet when Coleman and DiBennedetto are in the cars, they don't sniff the lead. I know they are young and inexperienced, but it does show that the Gibbs dominance in this series is not 100% car, it is about 95% car. 6 cars out of the race by lap 2 and another out on lap 4, PATHETIC. 11. Anonymous posted: 10.24.2010 - 12:56 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) No more than DiBenedetto and Coleman get to race they can't be expected to do well. Anyone who has watched DiBenedetto at Hickory winning late model races as a kid knows he's awesome. His only fault is signing with Gibbs where their Cup drivers are the focus. Plus it seems that the Gibbs cars only have failures when a Cup driver isn't driving them. Are they using Matt for R&D? Thanks Steve Wallace for giving a Cup driver another win. 12. 18fan posted: 10.24.2010 - 1:21 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I know Matt is talented, he just needs more experience and I think one of Gibbs' Cup drivers could not race for a season or the three of them could split one ride and let Matt run full time or have no Cup drivers race and have Matt and Brad C. both run full time. Believe me,I watched Matt in the Toyota All Star Showdown in person and he did a great job there. 13. Bliss still owes some smite to the teams that fired him in the past, and Allgaier could have used a win to help him find a ride next year. Have I mentioned what a shame it is that he isn't signed for next year? Good runs for Josh Wise (whom I think could be good given the right chance), Brad Coleman and Jeremy Clements. Trevor Bayne just missed the top-10, and Brian Scott along with Ryan Truex finish respectably. Vince Welsh is the worst. Nah, it's just that's hilarious to watch go from posting a 5th place average finish and being a threat to win every race in Nationwide to struggling with an ill handling car on Sunday, when he either loses it and whacks the wall or battles all day for a top 20, courtesy of the Lucky Dog and the wave-around. No other double dipping driver in the last four years has had such a great divide between Nationwide and Cup results, I don't think. Also, rather than calling Kyle an ass, Brad should probably thank him for not running the full schedule. Otherwise, Kyle would have a 300+ point lead right about now. The fact that the #18 team is going to win the owner's championship pretty much answers the question of who was the best Nationwide team in 2010. 21. ii posted: 10.24.2010 - 1:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "BTW...Mike Bliss can still wheel a race car." You have to set the car up to be able to shift. And Paul and the team did a masterful job because that #22 car just launched on the back straightaway in 3rd gear. As I've said before, Paul understands Brad and understands what he likes in a race car, and knows how to make it do what Brad likes. I hope they give those two a chance in Cup next year, although Brad and Jay Guy FINALLY were able to get the Cup car better in the second half of a race at Martinsville. As far as the payout, Penske cars have always run much less contingency sponsor decals (the ones on the front quarter panels) than most others. Those contingency sponsors pay a lot of the purse. 37. Jason Leffler gets his 40th career top five in 255 Nationwide starts. It's just his 3rd top five in 26 starts in the #38 this season. With Gateway closing down, Carl Edwards ends up with the most wins at the track with 3. He got his 6th top five in 8 starts there. Reed Sorenson gets his 19th top ten in 25 starts this season. Josh Wise has a 12.4 average finish with 2 top tens (both at Gateway) in 9 starts with JR Motorsports this season. Brad Coleman gets his 3rd top ten in 6 starts in the #18 this season. In what amounts to a damage-limitation race, his finish still keeps the #18's lead in the owners standings at 71 points over the #22. Brandon McReynolds finishes 19th in his series debut. But at least the fight for the championship in 2009 was interesting and not a one man show without all the Cup drivers. Actually, this year and 2008 are the only interesting fights for the title during the top of the Buschwhacker's era, because Harvick, Edwards and Keselowski won their titles in 2006, 2007 and 2010 with big margins. I think 2010 would be more interesting, if Kyle didn't have to intentionally skip 6 races to not win the title due J.D. Gibbs and his no, because I'm sure he would win more than 13 races and gave Keselowski some hard time in those races he skipped, but that's just an alternate reality. Just like Kyle's potential Truck championship season in 2010... 70. Coleman helped Gibbs' #18 Toyota team to the owners championship in 2010 but he was having second thoughts about a career in racing at the time of this race. While he initially had a new sponsorship lined up to keep racing in 2011 the deal fell apart just days before it was announced when they pulled out and after spending the year on the sidelines Coleman officially retired from competition and moved back to Texas in 2012 where he's had a successful career as a driving instructor during the time since. 71.
