Went behind the wall and came back out about 20 laps later but the car wasn't driving right. I had Rick Ware Racing on facebook and that is what they were saying atleast. I know the 66 spunout and got more damage but they have more crewmen and sponsors so they were able to keep on going but JJC's team wasn't so I don't look at that as an S&P status 7. Also something smells fishy with this whole Jenn Jo Cobb deal. I'm not sure who to believe now. I admit that I jumped on the bandwagon, but I'm off it now. 8. I think that she's really bringing the idea of a female driver down. Johanna Long is the best hope right now, but she's had a rough start this year. There are a lot of good female drivers out there, but they don't have the money they need. I'm just afraid that people will see Jennifer and think that all women drivers are horrible, or just bratty like Danica. 9. 00andJoe posted: 03.26.2011 - 9:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #8 - Not sure I agree, but I DO think Cobb should have taken another season in the Trucks before moving up. Maybe they can call the the Contrived Cup Series because of their convoluted, moronic decision to allow the Sprint Cup guys to stink up the series without scoring points. However, I am glad to see that Ricky Stenhouse scored a solid top 5 finish, and that Trevor Bayne, my favorite Nationwide regular finally get another good finish. Since Daytona, Trevor had a rough road of results. Did JJC indeed start-and-park after all the ruckus she made over it at Bristol? If that's true, a little of the respect I gained last week will have gone away. 16. I Seize the Day posted: 03.26.2011 - 9:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Also, why did this race feel so LONG? Allowing Sprint Cup drivers to cheapen the lower-tier series because they're too chicken shit and cheap to allow them to stand on their own, adding a bunch of cookie cutter tracks nobody gives a shit about, guaranteeing the top 35 cars a spot in the starting grid rendering qualifying pointless, seeing attendance at the Brickyard 400 decline by 50% over the last decade, and television ratings off about 20% from their highs aren't good enough to qualify? Great battles for the lead between edwards and harvick. Busch takes two on his final stop and it was pretty darn exciting seeing if busch was gonna hold on since he was more than .5 second slower a lap. Had this race been 151 laps, we would have seen a different winner. Pretty good race overall. 22. Kevin Conman returns to the Nationwide series to drive his first full race since Homestead 2009; despite being as slow as hell in Cup, he runs at a respectable level in Nationwide. Surprised he was even able to score a ride after all the mud his name has been dragged through. Its incredible how Martin and Keselowski barely made more than the start and parkers. "Like I said in last week's Nationwide comments page, I expect the 18 to win every race in this series (except Montreal, Kyle sucks there)." And how does he suck there? He finished 10th in his only start there despite getting spun and having a lot of damage. Watto posted: 03.26.2011 - 11:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The 41 wasn't a planned start and park, but they absolutely pulled it in early. It wasn't because of mechanical issues. The car was too loose to Cobb's liking (which is why she spun out on her own), and they made wholesale changes but it was still too loose for her liking. On her own twitter/facebook, she wrote "Rear end just wants 2 step out. Kept tightening it but not fixing the problem. Kenny Rogers says u just got 2 know when 2 fold em!" They parked. Simple as that. You can make a car push, but obviously she couldn't keep the car facing forward and parked early due to "handling". 26. 00andJoe posted: 03.26.2011 - 11:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Also...did Dennis Setzer turn in a time in qualifying or not? Yes they're big names, but they seem to be some of the most disliked drivers in the sport lol. If you're a verteran with more than 10 wins in cup, you shouldn't be allowed to run more than 5 N'wide races a year. I don't like seeing guys that are in their prime in cup just whacking away in N'wide. I don't at all mind seeing Joey Logano, Mark Martin, and Brad Keselowski however. At least the points are compelling this season. Props. But the races are still boring to watch. I'd rather tune in to see Coleman instead of Busch. Dillon instead of Harvick. Even Kleuver instead of Edwards. Are all the other fans out there seriously looking forward to seeing the cup guys all the time, rather than people whose careers are actually on the line? C'mon, there's drama in the latter. 29. irony posted: 03.26.2011 - 11:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Not a bad race at all. One of the better Fontana races I can remember. Take the top 10 in this race, for instance. Only 6 cup guys in the race, but (of course) they were all top 10.....1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 8th, and 10th. You take them out, and what do we have??? A battle for the win featuring Leffler, Stenhouse, Bayne, Almirola, Sadler, Allgaier, Sorenson, and Scott. All of whom, I'd say, have equal equipment and (arguably) all fall on the same talent level. I'll take that 100 times out of 100 over another Kyle Busch/Carl Edwards battle for the win (or the more typical 8 second blowout, for that matter). 36. He seems to have taken to this new car so much better than the old one. I guess the old one just didn't mesh with his style, but he has had a great feel for the new one. "Despite I hate both Harvick and Edwards I really appreciated they raced each other all the day like it's last 5 laps. No laidbacking Martin-style shit." I totally agree. I don't like Kevin or Carl either, but they put on a great show I thought. And although I respect the hell out of Mark, I agree about his driving style. It is what works for him, and it has allowed him to have a really good Cup career, but it has also prevented him from making that step to champion and legend (for his driving, he will be a legend based on his longevity and consistency). To make that step, you have to be willing to occasionally ignore the potential consequenses for your competitors and stick your nose where it probably shouldn't go, but Mark has never done that. That is what has kept him ultimately behind drivers like Earnhardt, Gordon, and Johnson. 37. Frank posted: 03.27.2011 - 12:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think we all know real reasons of buschwhacking and I hope you agree that simple elimination would only add s&p entries instead of young talents and JGR NNS program will be closed. My bad, I thought he'd made more starts there for some reason. This website provides that information, so I should've looked that up. That 2009 race just sticks out in my mind when I'm looking for a Kyle Busch Nationwide flaw, but I shouldn't hold that against Kyle since a lot of other drivers were driving in over their head that day. "To make that step, you have to be willing to occasionally ignore the potential consequenses for your competitors and stick your nose where it probably shouldn't go, but Mark has never done that." He's also too nice to whoever he is racing for the win. He lost the 2005 Ford 400 because he wasn't more aggressive in protecting his position, same goes for the 2007 Daytona 500 (Mark didn't even have to make contact with Harvick, just move up and try to cut off his momentum). 39. Someone mentioned last week that this series used to mean something. While the Cup guys are not getting points, they're still getting wins in NASCAR's AAA Series. I think if you sign up for points in one series, you should be limited to a certain amount of races in the other series. I would like to see less Cup-Nationwide double-header weekends. Which would mean going back to tracks Milwaukee, Pikes Peak, Hickory, Rockingham, (Yes I'm old school.) and Memphis even when the Cup Series has a race that weekend. Or even go to Cup tracks that don't have a Cup race that weekend. I also hope that ESPN will put Allen Bestwick back in the play-by-play booth instead of Marty Reid. He could be if Logano can't start matching Kyle and Denny. I'm really starting to hope so, because the #20 JGR team hasn't been the same since Dave Rogers left and I'll take anything to knock the #18 of it's game so others can win. Just so long as Carl Edwards quits running all the races so he's not the one to just take over instead. Kyle Busch wins his 46th career Nationwide race. 7th straight at Fontana for JGR, 61st in Nationwide overall. Carl Edwards won his 23rd career Nationwide pole, tied with Jeff Green for 4th all time and 7 back of Mark Martin for the all time record. He became the 11th driver to reach 150 career top tens, tied with Mark Martin for 10th all time (216 starts vs. 233 for Mark). Kevin Harvick led the most laps, 64, and is just 3 top tens away from 200 for his career. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. gets his first top five of the season (5th of his career in 44 starts) and is tied with Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards for most top tens so far in 2011 with 4. His 8.2 average finish is 2nd only to Kyle Busch among drivers who've run all 5 races. Elliott Sadler got his 2nd straight top five, tied with Reed Sorenson for the most this season among series regulars. Trevor Bayne hasn't started worse than 9th this season, but has started 7th three times (6.8 avg start). Got his 3rd top ten in 5 starts this season. Aric Almirola gets his 2nd straight top ten but still hasn't finished better than 9th this season (4 finishes of 8th or better in 7 starts for in the #88 JRM car last season). Canadian JR Fitzpatrick made his 2nd start of the season in the #27 Baker-Curb car, making his first career NNS start on a non-RP oval track.
