At least the total numbers of Cup guys seems to be going down in NWide. Now if we can just get these 3 to cut way down and focus on doing something about JJ's unquestioned Cup dominance (or in Brad's case, just get a Top 15!) this Series will be much better. Atta boy to Stenthouse for mixing it up with the big boys for the second race in a row. He has surprised the hell out of me, especially since last year. He is a deserving NWide points leader. And kudos to the Turner Motorports guys. They seem to be getting it together. I'm pulling for them, especially Allgaier. 4. Brad24 posted: 04.09.2011 - 10:29 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 6-0 5. Kyle was catching him and was about the only car capable of running with him but was knocked out when the #52 blew a tire right in front of his path. First time since 2007 that Carl didn't pick up his first win of the season in the state of Wisconsin in June. Elliott Sadler now has three straight top 5s, it looks like he's a championship contender after all. He's about the only Nationwide driver that looks capable of taking it to the Cup guys and winning. 6. Dodge posted: 04.09.2011 - 12:36 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I wasn't surprised when Busch's crew chief or whoever on that team say that Schendel has no business racing last night. Considering who the crew chief is, he's the one that doesn't belong on the box. I know that crew chiefs have always pressed the issue with near cheating or gotten caught doing so but to me, his was more sever in trying to rig the engine dyno back a few years ago. I have thought from that point on, the crew chief should of been suspended even longer than what, 10 or so races, maybe even BANNED from being at track for a few years. Other than that, the race wasn't all that special, waiting for a Stenhouse win which I thought may of been last night. 9. Rusty posted: 04.09.2011 - 1:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Tim Schendel is my new hero. But seriously, another lame race in this series. The Brad/Carl battle got interesting late but Brad fizzled. 10. 00andJoe posted: 04.09.2011 - 1:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This actually wasn't a bad race, proving that "BILLIONS and BILLIONS" of lead changes (with apologies to Carl Sagan) aren't needed to make something a good race. The Buschwhackers' numbers are down, but the problem still remains. My personal solution would be to establish a rule like so: "Any driver in the top 35 in drivers' points in a series is not allowed to compete in more than 5 races combined in series 'lower' than the series the driver is in the top 35 in points in. "Exceptions: "1. If a driver is not currently employed as a driver in the series he is in the top 35 in points in. "2. If a driver has rookie status in the highest-level series he is in the top 35 in points in. "3. If a driver is replacing an injured driver in a lower-level series on a one-race basis, the race will not count against his 5 race quota." (2, for instance, would allow a Cup rookie to also run a full BGN season, a la Harvick in 2001 or Bayne this year if he was collecting Cup points.) 11. dUDE gUY posted: 04.09.2011 - 1:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Just another Cup Lite race I'm glad I missed. Ricky Stenhouse is proving the doubters he had last year wrong. He indeed can run up front and contend during races, but I'd still put Trevor Bayne in Cup over him because it took Ricky half the season last year to finally adapt to Nationwide. 14. Although I can't stand Marty Reid, I'll give him a break on this one. That is what SMI gets for making the track look just like Charlotte. And then altering Atlanta to also look just like it. When nighttime falls on those tracks, they are indistinguishable. The drivers all say "each track drives totally different, they are all unique, and fans should realize this". Kiss my ass. We don't get to driver the cars around them like you do, all we know is they all look identical. That is all we have to go by. 24. Talon64 posted: 04.11.2011 - 5:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Carl Edwards gets his 30th career Nationwide win, putting him 1 back of Jack Ingram for 4th all time. The #60 shoots up to 2nd in the owners standings, 1 point behind the #20 for the lead. Which sucks, because the only way that Carl or Brad will quit on running full time is if they're out of the hunt for the owners championship so they won't run the stand-alone races and ruin those. Brad Keselowski gets his best Nationwide finish of the season in 2nd. Paul Menard finishes 3rd in his 1st start with KHI, his 20th career top 5 in 166 Nationwide starts. Elliott Sadler gets 3 top 5's in a row in Nationwide for the 1st time since 2005 driving the #90 CitiFinancial car for Yates Racing. Justin Allgaier gets just his 3rd top 10 of the season but his 5th straight finish of 15th or better. Allgaier owns the best finish by a series regular this season, 2nd at Las Vegas. Reed Sorenson gets his 1st top ten 4 races after starting the season with back-to-back 5th place finishes. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has gone from Wreckhouse to Mr. Consistency, tied with teammate Carl Edwards for the most top 10's so far this season with 5 in 6 races. The #6 is 4th in the owners standings, just 7 points off the lead which really shows how impressive Ricky's start to the season is. Brian Scott gets his 2nd top 10 of the season, and 5th straight finish of 14th or better. And Rusty Wallace Inc. has just gone to total shit. Either that or the competition's gotten that much better, or maybe a combination of both, but the #66 and #62 are 19th and 20th in the owners standings while drivers Steve Wallace and Michael Annett are 11th and 12th in the standings with average finishes of 20.2 and 21.8. They're barely better than Josh Wise in 13th who spent the first 4 races of the year with a back marker team but has finished better than both RWI driver in each of the last 2 races after jumping in the #7 JRM car. 26. dirtfan9628 posted: 04.13.2011 - 4:56 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) "in kyle's post-wreck interview, kyle handled himself a lot better than i thought he would. still, it's only a matter of time before someone rubs him the wrong way, then the old kyle will make a return." So he's not allowed to be angry ever again? The slightest hint of emotion, and people like you will be all over his case with a, "see, I told you so!" attitude? I want drivers to be pissed off from time to time. I can't stand the guys that get wrecked out of a possible win, and just smile and thank their sponsors. And I thought that's what everybody has been complaining about the last several years, that too many drivers are just clean-shaven corporate shills. I don't care for Kyle Busch as much as the next guy, but I have no problem with a guy being pissed off when he gets out of a wrecked race car. They're still thinking about what went wrong, the loss of points, the loss of winnings from finishing lower than they should have (possibly a difference of several thousand dollars to them personally), and then a bunch of people shove microphones and cameras in their face and they're just supposed to smile and thank their sponsors? This is what I can't stand about modern NASCAR. Dale Earnhardt was ticked off plenty of times, but it only endeared him to the fans more when he spoke his mind. Kyle Busch's only problem seems to be he doesn't have a mustache or talk with a southern accent. And now people are going to come back with, "bu-bu-bu-but, Kyle is immature!" Bullshit. Find me a driver that hasn't complained about something that was their own fault. Find me a driver that hasn't stormed off after being wrecked on the final lap of a race. Find me a driver that hasn't given a sarcastic interview, or called out another driver for being an idiot. If you find me this magically driver that doesn't truly exist, I will find you a unicorn. 27. Damn lapped cars - they can be glad that NASCAR doesn't use the same rule as biathlon, where the lapped biathletes are forced to retire to not stay in the way of the best ones. You're lapped = you're out. 34. Tarheel posted: 11.02.2018 - 8:28 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) Once again mannoroth posts an utterly idiotic comment. Lapped and you're out? Probably hundreds of times drivers have come back from a lap down to finish top five or even win the race. Dealing with lapped cars is part of being a complete race car driver. If a young driver or struggling team is removed from the race because they went a lap down, that limits their learning opportunity, and lessens the chance that they'll ever improve. 35. RaceFanX posted: 11.02.2018 - 8:31 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) There is a car racing format where if you get passed at all you're out, it's called Australian Pursuit. Fast cars start at the back with the fastest guy last. It's fun however it's a short track sideshow only format since very quickly you'll run out of cars if you go more than say 10-15 laps. 36. Mannoroth posted: 11.02.2018 - 8:55 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) 34. And once again someone didn't understand my comment, but that's okay. I already know that Americans usually don't understand the sports that aren't from their country. Biathlon has 5 different competitions - individual (sometimes called as a individual time trial), sprint, pursuit, mass start and relay. And if you're lapped during the pursuit, mass start or relay, you're forced to withdraw. Read the rules, if you don't believe, but it's true. And all I said was that they can be glad this rule doesn't exist in NASCAR, otherwise these situations would be reduced to minimum and we would see only a few cars battling for the win. I'm absolutely fine with top drivers racing lapped cars. It's one of the only few parts of an original NASCAR that hasn't been ruined by Brian France yet. 37.
