Hopefully TriStar leaves him in the 44 for the rest of the season. Although with Hal Martin driving full time for them next year, I see Jeff returning to S&Ping for 2013. That is, unless G Oil likes what Jeff did today enough to sponsor him full time next year. Then they can have four full time cars. It's good to have a mix of cup guys and regulars. And DRSRFANFOREVER Logano has done a lot better in cup than Keselowski in 2010. Yet still not that much. Does have 2 wins though. The reason I think Penske took him was the same reason Stewart Haas kept Newman. There is no one else out there. Because of A. Cup Domination 2006-2011 B. Every 2 seconds during the races it's Johanna Long this and Johanna Long that. We should talk about Johanna more. She's getting articles written about her in ESPN. And yes I know she won the snowball derby. But everytime I go on a nationwide forum it's all Danica and Johanna. Some Stats (AVG Finish In NW This Year) Joe Nemechek 19.0 AVG Taylor Malsam 20.6 AVG Mike Wallace 21.2 AVG Jason Bowles 21.9 AVG Johanna Long 21.9 AVG Her average truck finish in 24 starts 24.5 There what 27 trucks a race that don't start and park. David Stremme was getting top 12s-15s in that car most of the time. I just wanted to get that off my chest. Now the main reason I'm doing this rant is because of this guy. Mike Bliss. He has gotten not one mention during a nationwide race or on a nationwide forum. Eric posted: 09.29.2012 - 8:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 12345Dude, It is true that Johanna Long didn't do great in trucks, but she was in an underfunded truck team that is very inexperienced. People have been bringing her name up because the face this year she is doing great in underfunded equipment. She has 1994 Busch series champion David Green teaching her the ropes and is something she didn't have in the truck series either. 14. Paul posted: 09.29.2012 - 9:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #2: 10andJoe, yes Grime Boss was on the quarter panels of Truex's car. I watched the first 50 laps of this race then left to go eat and take a 2.5 hour walk. Missed the rest of the race, but didn't seem to miss much as Logano was still P1 when I came back. Michael Annett was sick this weekend and still finishes 3rd. Glad to see Mike Bliss and Jeff Green finish top 15 and on the lead lap in cars that aren't fully sponsored. What's your excuse Eric McClure? I hope G-Oil decides to sponsor Green for the rest of the season because he's proven this year in his six distance races (four of which he finished) that he can still get it done behind the wheel. Scott Riggs pulled into the garage after one lap, then came back out for another 13 laps and gained seven positions. I feel bad for Morgan Shepherd and Mike Harmon for missing the race. Harmon actually had a sponsor this week with Applebee's, which ended up on the #39 car driven by Tim Andrews. Dusty Davis was originally supposed to drive the #24 and Blake Koch was going to S&P the #00, but the deal with Davis fell through and SR2 Motorsports told Koch that he could drive the #24 if he found someone that would drive the #00. Koch got his friend Michael McDowell to drive the #00 and Koch got to run the distance for the first time since Daytona in July and finished 22nd. This was the #27 team's first oval race since Texas in April. David Ragan drove that car to a 6th place finish while J.J. Yeley finishes 23rd and three laps down today. Hmmmm... Elliott Sadler now has a 9-point lead over Stenhouse with five races to go. Austin Dillon is now 25 points back and must beat the above two by about five positions in each of the remaining races, and Sam Hornish, Jr.'s 18th place finish has pretty much ended his title hopes. Realistically, this is now a two-horse race between the conservative Sadler and the "go for broke" Stenhouse. 15. Paul posted: 09.29.2012 - 9:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 12345Dude, you're comparing one driver who's been in NASCAR for 10 years (Stremme) to a driver who's only in her second NASCAR season (Long). I don't expect her to have a better average finish than Stremme in her first Nationwide season, but she's held her own driving 3rd tier equipment on a part-time schedule in her first season. Plus, how many part-time rookies driving 3rd tier equipment can say they passed a driver like Denny Hamlin for 5th place at Richmond, a driver with 4 Richmond wins across the top 2 series? But I do agree that Mike Bliss gets little to no respect or mentions from the broadcast teams. He's may be the least talked about 8th place points driver since the mid-'80s when most teams began running the full schedule. 16. 12345Dude posted: 09.29.2012 - 9:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Good points Paul. The only reason I didn't mention Richmond was because all this talking of Johanna started before that Richmond race. 5-6 races before atleast. Plus when her pit crew knocked her back to 14th she was around 15th-17th the next 80 laps until she crashed. And I understand there were less start and parks, David Green wasn't mentoring here and David Stremme has been around for 10 years. But 24.5! I would say there were 29-30 trucks a race the last 2 years. The stand alone events would be 27-29. And were talking about David Stremme here guys. Remember that year he was with Penske? This guy should be thanking his lucky stars NASCAR allows 43 drivers in 3 series. 17. DaleSrFanForever posted: 09.29.2012 - 11:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I've considered Taylor Malsam, Johanna Long, and Jeremy Clements "The Three" that have been getting much more out of their equipment than most could while neither of the three has even touched the peak of their potential yet. I too was upset to see him go. 18. Jim Davis posted: 09.30.2012 - 12:47 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "And were talking about David Stremme here guys. Remember that year he was with Penske?" I certainly agree that Stremme is at best a journeyman driver. And, yes, he is a better driver than Long is right now. But why re-sign a driver who has plateaued and will never get better when, for probably less money, you can sign a promising rookie who will generate publicity for the team if she lives up to expectations? Long has not only lived up to expectations but has exceeded them. She's shown flashes of brilliance, taken care of her cars, and shown steady improvement. People are taking notice. I don't think ML Racing regrets signing Long because Stremme would probably have averaged 1 or 2 positions higher. Sometimes it's better all around to wipe the slate clean and star over. 19. 12345Dude posted: 09.30.2012 - 1:27 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Fair point Jim. I think Stremme would have kept the cup deal anyway. I'm not saying she has been awful but just overrated. I don't see this much press about Joe Nemechek missing a race and still in the top 10 in points. That all's but good points by everyone. 20. Tony Stwart didn't do well in the Busch series and I think it still worked out pretty well for him. 21. The Final Gear posted: 09.30.2012 - 10:44 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @20 That argument can't be used much for Johanna. Stewart was learning to transition from running an open wheel car to running stock cars. He didn't do well because he was learning how to drive the cars. If that's an argument for any of the women, it's for Danica and not Johanna. I just think it's funny to see the same arguments used for Johanna and Danica although they are polar opposites other than being women. My personal views are that Johanna is a young developing driver in the mold of Clint Bowyer or Matt Kenseth while Danica is very similar to an open wheel driver who never "got it" like JJ Yeley. Back to the N'Wide race, it was a snoozefest and once I saw Logano was in the field I knew it would take a miracle for anybody else to win the race. It was really a battle for 2nd all day. 22. This is worse then cup drivers winning Nationwide races so often. If Nationwide drivers want to beat the best, they have to race the best no matter what series. Congrats to Cole Whitt and Brain Scott on 6th and 7th place finishes. 23. 10andJoe posted: 09.30.2012 - 1:31 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) ^ Why? Why do they have to do something about it? There is nothing NASCAR can do that doesn't involve throwing a bunch of people out of work. The start and parks, like the empty grandstands, are a symptom of a poor economy which NASCAR can't do anything about. You might as well clamor for empty grandstands to be torn down. Both the empty grandstands and the start and parks will go away when the economy improves. 25. I still watched to see how the championship played out, and it definitely played in Sadler's favor thanks to the final restart where Kasey Kahne had major issues and screwed over Dillon and Stenhouse. Anyways, Joey Logano picks up his 7th win in 17 starts this season and the 16th win Nationwide Series win of his career. Joey has a 41.2% winning % this season; Kyle Busch's best season in Nationwide was when he won 13 of 29 races for a 44.9% win %. Logano also picked up his 50th career top 5, in his 105th start. Paul Menard gets his 4th career runner-up finish in Nationwide, and 3rd since his last and only win (Milwaukee 2006). Menard also extends his personal top 10 streak in Nationwide to 14 straight. Michael Annett ties his best career Nationwide finish in 3rd, his 6th consecutive top 10 finish and 11th in the last 14 races. Elliott Sadler has 5 top 5's and 6 top 10's in the last 7 races (6.0 avg fin); he was leading the points by 13 prior that span, and currently has a 9 point lead. Sadler has also gone 7 straight races without a top 3 finish. Kyle Busch finishes in the top 10 for a 6th consecutive start, which includes 3 top 5 finishes (2 top 5's, 3 top 10's in his first 11 starts this year). Cole Whitt picks up his 4th top 10 in the last 6 races, which includes 3 finishes of 6th. Whitt had just 3 top 10's in the previous 12 races. Brian Scott establishes a new career-high with his 8th top 10 of the season (7 in 2011), including 2 in the last 3 races. It's his 20th top 10 in 104 career starts. Kasey Kahne picks up just his 3rd top 10 in the last 8 races. After rattling off 4 straight top 2 finishes, Ricky Stenhouse has finishes of 17th and 9th in the last 2 races to drop 18 points to Elliott Sadler. Austin Dillon's 22nd top 10 of the year ties Kyle Busch's rookie record for top 10's in a season (2004). Dillon is on pace to smash the record with 26 top 10's. It's his 7th straight top 10 finish but he's gained just 4 points on the lead over that span. Although he only has 1 top 10 in 2012, Mike Bliss has finished in the top 20 in 25 of 28 races. Darrell Wallace Jr. earned his 1st career Nationwide pole in just his 4th series start, but failed to finish in the top 10 for the first time (9.5 avg fin). Ryan Blaney's 4 race top 10 streak comes to an end, but he finishes in the top 15 for the 7th time in 9 career Nationwide starts (15.6 avg fin). His average finish in 13 starts between Nationwide and Trucks is 13.0. Alex Bowman gets his 2nd top 20 finish in his first 3 career Nationwide starts. 27. [Blake] Koch, who takes his fitness seriously, couldn't pay for a $1,200 road bike that Justin Allgaier lent him. So [Michael] McDowell made a start and park appearance in the Xfinity Series at Dover International Speedway driving for SR2 Motorsports and gave his winnings to Koch so he could pay back Allgaier. "'Just give it to Blake, Blake you pay Justin there's your bike,'" Koch recalled the conversation. "It was a pretty cool story where he went out [of his way] and did an Xfinity start and park just for me to buy a road bike.""
