You can clearly tell the changes on the quarter panels, with it having a brown rectangle covering up the Budweiser logo. LOL @ Diva Denny vs Austin...gotta admit I agreed with some of the stuff Denny said but he's gotta focus on bigger things, he's just too immature to ever win a title. And how about Sammy's son Kevin...I knew this kid would be good. I actually used to sim-race with him like when we were both 15 and he used to help me with my setups and he seemed to always win our league races. 4. Paul posted: 11.03.2012 - 11:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I always though Kevin Swindell was talented in stock cars, as he was once in Evernham's driver development program along with Chase Miller, but that ended once sponsorship became more important than skill. He could have won about 3 or 4 ARCA races this year, but instead only won once because his car often wouldn't last the full race. I was a little surprised that Biagi-Denbeste Racing chose to put Kevin in the car for tonight and Homestead over Reed Sorenson, but they clearly made a great call because Kevin was great all night. It wasn't just the great finish that impressed me, as he was racing and having great side-by-side battles with Denny, Sadler, Whitt, and others throughout the race and ran a very clean race for a smaller team. I don't know if he's interested in running a full schedule, but if he is, this was a great start towards next season. And Ryan Blaney did a great job with a runner-up finish on a fast race track. He now ties Brad's best finish at Texas in six Nationwide starts. He's been very quiet in that #22 car in his limited starts, but this might be the start of something great between he and Discount Tire. If he's ready to move full-time to the Nationwide Series in 2014, I'd imagine the #22 team's current sponsors would be more than happy to sponsor him once he "graduates" from the Trucks. 8. soupclan posted: 11.04.2012 - 12:22 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) hey denny, last i checked austin has more nascar championships then you do. so obviously its not a paul menard situation where an average driver is in the sport because of his sponsorship. Austin is uber talented maybe even more so then you denny. 9. 1995z71 posted: 11.04.2012 - 12:26 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I just noticed Mark Smith entered 5 cars. 10. The #44 car that John Blankenship drove was actually a Tommy Baldwin car, but they used Mark Smith's owner points to lock the car into the field. That's why Hal Martin moved to the #19, Mike Bliss to the #10, and Jeff Green to the #91. They did the same thing at Iowa too. 11. Very well done by the network which is pretty rare (another story for another day). Great interviews with her family and competitors with great soundbites from the studio guys saying what those of us that pay close attention to racing have been saying: get her in a well funded car, she will produce results. But of course, almost on cue, they had to cut immediately out of that to talk about Danica. You can just imagine her sponsors on the phone screaming to BSPN "quit talking about Johanna, our big marketing ploy with Danica that she is the only female in racing that is any good, even though she isn't any good. If they realize how much better Johanna is, we are screwed!". So they did their BS stat about how much better she is doing with Pemberton cause her average finish is improved (still poor considering how watered down the field is and how much money she rakes in). Of course they also mention she has no DNFs in those 4 races as opposed to the 6 she had in the first 30 races. What a crock. Tonight showed it. Another mediocre night for a mediocre driver. Her sponsors need to get over their Johanna issues. The fact is she is better at driving, FAR more relatable, more naturally attractive (that doesn't really matter, I just think it is worth noting to rub in Danica's face), and has the potential to be a NASCAR winner. 12. 10andJoe posted: 11.04.2012 - 1:00 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) >Funny thing is, that 75 was supposed to have Budweiser on the hood, but some conflict forced RWR to remove the Budweiser logos off the car. It was because Nur Ali wasn't approved to run at Texas - the Budweiser deal was with a local distributor, and it was his personal deal. No Ali, no Bud for you. As I said in the other thread, Ryan Blaney has got to be the #1 blue chip in NASCAR or even all of racing perhaps right now. 13. Austin Dillon seems to start having a big head lately and Denny Hamlin has some sense of unearned entitlement. The man chokes under pressure and thinks he's never done anything wrong in a race car. And Austin seems to think because Richard Childress is his grandpa, he deserves the most respect out there. 14. Even though the standings show a tie, I think Ricky has the advantage because he has shown the most speed throughout the season. If Elliott loses, he can look back at NASCAR screwing him at Indy and him crashing at Richmond while battling Ricky as reasons why. If Ricky loses its due to him spinning out at Montreal while running 2nd and then hitting the wall and damaging the car in the second Kentucky race. Loved Denny's comments after the race since they were spot on. Ryan Newman makes his first Nationwide start since Phoenix in February 2011. 15. I give ESPN a pass. They were under time constraints and the points shakeup and the Hamlin/Dillon dust up took priority. It sucks for Blaney but what are you going to do? 19. DaleSrFanForever posted: 11.04.2012 - 11:58 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I knew it was coming and promised myself I wouldn't let it get to me but this "iconic #3" thing is getting to me. At Martinsville last week, while walking through the souvenier rigs, I saw the RCR merchandise trailer. It had a big "iconic #3" on it with big pictures of Austin and Ty doing their hero poses, with a ghostly picture above them of Dale in the grass at Daytona doing doughnuts. Above that, it read "NASCAR Cup Series Champions '86, '87, '90, '91, '93, '94". Do they really think they are a crucial part of a legacy? There is no "Childress legacy" or "Childress dynasty", it was Dale. Letting them pretend to be a part of that, how can you keep their ego in check? Like I said on the Cup page, this is where Pop-Pop needs to bring them down, but his ego is so big, that will never happen. And yes, although Denny was spot on in his observation of Austin, he does look pathetic knocking a Truck regular out of the way to win a Truck race at a track he has 4 Cup wins on then getting into it in an NWide race with an NWide driver at a track he once swept the Cup races at, including what should have been the capper to a Cup championship season in 2010 before redefining "epic failure". Denny Hamlin ladies and gentlemen. 22. NadeauFan91 posted: 11.04.2012 - 4:24 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I turned the race off around halfway, but I heard about the Hamlim/Dillon deal. I don't care what the circumstances were, all I can say is that Denny was whining about a lower-tier driver (who's actually running for a points championship) in a lower-tier series, so his argument is pretty much moot. And as if this hasn't been said a million times before, Buschwhackers can GTFO from Nationwide COMPLETELY. 23. It's his 2nd win of 2012, and just his 2nd win in the 7 races that he's led the most laps this season (2nd in 10 for the #33 team). It's also his 4th consecutive start with a top 3 finish. It's Harvick's 5th win in 14 starts at Texas Motor Speedway, tied with Kyle Busch for the most at the track. Ryan Blaney finishes a career-best 2nd, his first top 5 in 12 career Nationwide starts. He's the 4th driver 18 years old or younger to finish 2nd in a Nationwide race: Casey Atwood at Nashville in 1998 (17 years old), Kyle Busch at Charlotte and Darlington in 2003 and Joey Logano at Milwaukee and Gateway in 2008. Between his 30th place finish in the Truck race, his first finish outside of the top 11 in 7 starts, and 2nd in this race, Ryan Blaney's average finish in 19 total starts is now 12.6 (10 top 10's). Kyle Busch finishes in the top 10 for a 9th consecutive start, a streak that includes 5 top 5's (5.1 average finish). Kyle also earned his 2nd pole of 2012 and the 4th pole of his career, moving him past Kevin Harvick into sole possession of 4th all time. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. gets his series-leading 18th top 5 finish of the season. It's also his 15th top 10 in the last 17 races (2 wins, 4 runner-up finishes, 11 top 5's, 5.4 avg fin). But despite that, Stenhouse Jr. now has the points leads (this time thanks to the tiebreaker) for just the 2nd time in the last 20 races. Denny Hamlin's 8th top 5 in 12 starts this season expands the #18's lead in the owners points to 27 points with just 2 races to go. Austin Dillon finishes in the top 10 for a 10th consecutive race, his career-best and the longest active streak of any driver. It's also his series-leading 25th top 10 of the season. Sam Hornish Jr. picks up his 4th top 10 in the last 7 races (12 straight top 10's prior to that). Justin Allgaier's 2nd straight top 10 finish is just his 4th top 10 in the last 9 races. Allgaier's career high for top 10's in a season is 20, something he could surpass if he can finish top 10 in each if the last two races of the season. 3-time Chili Bowl winner Kevin Swindell gets his first top 10 in his 5th career Nationwide start, after failing to finish any of his first 4 starts. Joey Logano's 16th top 10 in 20 starts this season is more than he had in 22 starts last season (15). It's his 13th top 10 in his last 14 starts. Elliott Sadler now has 22 consecutive finishes of 15th or better, a streak that includes just 6 finishes outside of the top 10. Brad Sweet finishes in the top 15 for the 7th time in 17 starts this season, including 4 in the last 5 races. 26. ch posted: 11.05.2012 - 10:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Little late, but here we go...
