Basically, all he has to do next week is just not screw up like Elliott did this week. I'm expecting the 6 to be the car to beat since its Homestead, AKA Roush's House Away From Michigan and Texas. Solid top ten for Brian Scott after winning the Truck race last night. That being said, he needs to go back to Trucks full time to rebuild himself. Finally, shout out to Alex Bowman for bringing it home 15th in just his fourth ever NNS race. He's another guy to watch in the future. 8. He started off his new opportunity with a second place finish. Danica gets another top 10, good for her. If she wants to be taken seriously, these are the results she has to deliver. Jason Leffler makes a return to the series and finishes 12th. For another week, there were many people in (or at least attempted) the race that had no business competing in the last stop before Sprint Cup. Thankfully Hal Martin, Scott Saunders, and John Wes Townley did not participate this weekend. Everyone is also thankful Nur Ali was removed from the #70 after a practice crash and a qualifying lap 8 seconds off the pace. We still had first time starter Noel Dowler, John Blankenship, Derek White, Paulie Harrecka, and Dexter Stacey out there ready to cause chaos. Dowler managed to wreck in practice and follow up by a spin and final wreck ending his debut today. Blankenship managed to cause three cautions, including one bonehead move cutting off Brad Keselowski in the center of turns 3 and 4. White was a roadblock all day, so slow and in the way he nearly wrecked a quarter of the field early in the race. Harraka managed to just cause one caution today. Dexter Stacey had a quiet day 7 laps off the pace. Let's see who shows up at Homestead. 16. Timmy Hill was far more competitive in the #70 than Nur Ali would have been. Brian Vickers was giving Joey Logano all he wanted before the final caution came out. I thought it was going to come down to a side-by-side battle to the checkers at the end. 17. ch posted: 11.11.2012 - 12:15 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor Corrections: 10 - G-Oil 14 - Hefty / Reynolds Wrap 15 - Rick Ware Racing 19 - Bandit Chippers 30 - Fraternal Order of Eagles 42 - The Motorsports Group 46 - The Motorsports Group 47 - The Motorsports Group 73 - MaxElence MVP 81 - Honor and Remember / 505 Southwestern Sauces 86 - Deware Racing Group 91 - TriStar Motorsports 18. ch posted: 11.11.2012 - 12:17 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Owner of the #44 should be Tommy Baldwin, Jr. 19. cjs3872 posted: 11.11.2012 - 12:18 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well Matt L, the problems with slower traffic, which I fully expect to continue in tomorrow's race, are made worse by the fact that the track at Phoenix has a narrow groove, for the moment, meaning that there's no place for slower cars to go to get out of the way, hence the greater likelyhood of something happening that wouldn't happen at a place like Texas, where they were last week, or Homestead, where they'll be next week, because there's ample room at those places for slower cars to get out of the way. But also, I thought NASCAR had a minimum speed rule. If the do, I tihnk it's about time they actually enforce it. Of course, they can't seem to correctly enforce any of their other in-race rules, so why should anyone expect them to correctly enforce this one. Add the rolling road blocks to the fact that 10 other cars, including all four of Curtis Key's cars, S&P'd, and there's a big problem here. At least Jeff Green, in car #10, got to run the full race. And as was the case wih James Buescher in the previous night's Truck Series race, so many cars had trouble, or simply parked, that Eliott Sadler's miscue, as bad as it was, could have been even more damaging in the points, but he finished 22nd anyway, despite a broken car. But his mistake did bring second place in points back into play, as Sadler is now just five ahead of Austin Dillon, and if Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. doesn't race smart at Homestead and crashes or suffers a mechanical failure, and he has times where he doesn't race intelligently at all, Dillon may have an outside shot at the title yet. 20. But yeah, as far as real race fans who actually care about what happens in the sport go, I've never seen a Logano fan either. 24. I think the 5 car rule still applies not sure though... Either way, neither team violated the rule (if it is in place). In Rick Ware's case, the 70 is ML Motorsports' entry (even if the car is a RWR chassis). In TriStar's case, the 44 was operated by Tommy Baldwin Racing this week. That being said, if NASCAR were to count it as a TriStar entry since they used the 44 points, Blankenship is a rookie and the rules allow you to field a 5th car for a rookie with fewer than 7 starts that year. 28. Talon64 posted: 11.13.2012 - 7:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Joey Logano picks up his 18th career Nationwide Series victory. Of those wins, 9 have come in 2012 to lead the series. He's just the 4th driver to win at least 9 races in a season in Nationwide: Sam Ard (10 in 1983), Kevin Harvick (9 in 2006) and Kyle Busch (9 in 2009, 10 in 2008 and 13 in 2010). A win at Homestead would give Logano 10 wins in 22 starts this season, a .450 single-season win % that would rank 1st all time (minimum 15 starts). If Joey Logano were collecting Nationwide points, he'd be 9th in the standings despite running 21 races (841 pts, 40.03 per race). If he were running the full season, he'd have already clinched the championship thanks to a 62 pt lead (1281 pts). Brian Vickers in 2nd gives JGR their 3rd 1-2 finish of the season in Nationwide. It's Vickers' first Nationwide start of 2012 and just his 8th since 2010. It's his 7th career runner-up finish and 4th since his last win back in 2003 (only 3 career wins came in 2003 championship season). Ricky Stenhouse Jr. picks up his 14th podium finish of 2012, 4 more than the next best drivers (Keselowski and Logano with 10 each) and 6 more than the next best Nationwide regular (Elliott Sadler with 8). Stenhouse leads the series in top 5's and top 10's while leading all series regulars in wins, average start and laps led. Stenhouse has 16 top 10's in the last 18 races (3 wins, 12 top 5's, 5.22 avg fin), now outscoring Elliott Sadler by 43 points over that stretch. Kyle Busch finishes in the top 10 for a 10th straight start, his longest top 10 streak since having 14 in a row last season. But unless Kyle can win both the Nationwide and Truck race at Homestead, he'll go without a win in all 3 series for the first time since he moved to Cup full time back in 2005. Kasey Kahne finishes in the top 5 for just the 3rd time in 15 Nationwide starts this season (9 top 10's, 12.0 avg fin), his first in his last 10. Austin Dillon picks up his series-leading 26th top 10 of the season, tying Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in 2011, Martin Truex Jr. in 2004, Jeff Green in 2001 and Sam Ard in 1984 for the 5th most by a Nationwide Series regular all time (Sam Ard's 30 and Jack Ingram's 29 in 1983 are 1st and 2nd, Brad Keselowski's 28 in 2009 is 3rd, Jeff Green's 27 in 2000 is 4th). It's his 11th consecutive top 10 finish, and his 30th in 43 career series starts. Michael Annett also picked up his 30th career top 10, coming in his 137th series start (17 of them in 32 starts in 2012). He has 14 top 10's in the last 18 races. Brian Scott backs up his Truck Series win with his 10th top 10 of the season in Nationwide (7 in 2011, 5 in 2010). 4 of them have come within the last 7 races. Brad Keselowski picks up his 14th top 10 in 21 starts this season, a .667 top 10 % (.724 in 2011 with 21 in 29, .829 in 2010 with 29 in 35). After having just 2 top 10's in the first 29 races of 2012, Danica Patrick has 2 in the last 3 (a pair of 10th's). She now has 4 top 10's this season (3 in 12 starts in 2011). Jamie Dick finishes a career-best 18th, his 2nd top 20 finish in 17 career starts but both coming within his last 3. 30.
