The Long Shot posted: 06.28.2013 - 5:31 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Holy crap. This marks the 5th straight oval pole that Austin Dillon has won. And you know what his average finish in those previous 4 races is? 11th. Matt Crafton makes his Nationwide series debut, qualifying in the 8th position for Richard Childress Racing. Kevin Swindell starts 17th for the third time this year, his best ever qualifying run in that 98 car. Kyle Larson ties his career lowest qualifying run in Nationwide, qualifying 21st. His other worst career qualifying run was back at Daytona in February. Jamie Dick makes his first start since Charlotte back in May. Factoid of the week: The last time Carl Long qualified better than 30th was back at Texas in 2011, when he qualified 26th in Rick Ware's #75. He finished 42nd. Derrike Cope makes his first series start since Phoenix last November. 7. Yes, it's very confusing. Not just with Larson, but with a lot of different drivers. I miss the old days when cars would have the same exact paint scheme for like four or five years in a row. I understand that now it's a bit harder to do that because in recent years we've seen the emergence of multiple primary sponsors on one car, but still. 20. ch posted: 06.28.2013 - 6:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Oh no, just seen that Clements wrecked a Camaro, not an older car. Now get the hell out of Penske's NWide cars and let Dinger and Blaney run that car the rest of the year. If Discount Tire protests, fling a tire through their window like that old lady in the commercial. I can handle him in the Trucks cause it is his own stuff AND his stuff isn't very good (a big reason I am on the Ryan Blaney bandwagon, he won in BKR equipment), mostly hand me downs. Kyle I am less tolerant of in Trucks cause his stuff has that huge Toyota support behind it. I'm getting ready to go to dinner, so y'all pull Johanna through for me. It just dawned on me, I was vacationing at Myrtle Beach in 2006 when David Gilliland pulled the upset of this millennium by winning the Busch race at Kentucky. However, she claims that the LukButifool nail polish doesn't ward off the demons, but actually lures them over to her car, where they, "do all sorts of bad things to the car and give me a lot of un-groovy karma". From 2009-2012, of their 108 DNF's, 8 were for engines, most recently at the Glen in 2011, and including 2 at Fontana in 2010 within 3 laps of each other. All of those engine "failures" occured right around the point where they normally would start-and-park. That's just 1 team example, and a team that hasn't existed according to RR since Fontana last year, maybe NASCAR recently implemented that rule, but it looks like they used to be able to use "engine" as an excuse in the past. Might go check another team or two, maybe the Curtis Key team, to confirm that 200. 83andJoe posted: 06.29.2013 - 11:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) -Trevor Bayne's 100th Nationwide start 201. I hope Long doesn't lose any more races; she is now down to 20 for the entire year. I've said it before but I'll say it again. Long needs to part company with ML Racing at the end of the year even if it means a retreat to K&N or late models. (ARCA, I fear, is a sinking ship at this stage.) Sometimes one has to go back to go forward and this might be one of those times. 203. Joe Fan #87 posted: 07.01.2013 - 6:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Anyone know why they are skipping Daytona? Loved watching her last year almost get her first top 10. Sucked watching her crash in front of me though... 204.
