Despite their qualifying efforts, Reed Sorenson and Kyle Larson still deserve to race, as well as Jeff Green even though his team won't let him. But so do these drivers now missing races they would have made in the past. A series that already struggles to draw sponsors and teams that won't just put Cup drivers in the top equipment shouldn't have lost an additional 3 field spots. Besides, Morgan Shepherd and Carl Long are about 80% of my vested interest in this race, now it's just gonna be background noise to me at best while I wait for the Ego Boost 300 to go to another Buschwhacker 6. cjs3872 posted: 09.14.2013 - 2:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I hoped Joey Logano would do what he did last night and pull himself out of the car for this race, although if Logano was going to run one of the preliminaries for the Cup race, this would be the better one for him to run since it's being run closer to the time the Cup race will run, and they're running cars, instead of trucks, as it would be closer to what will be run tomorrow. Still, I was glad to see Logano pull himself out of the Truck race last night, which he was originally intending to run. Still, I think it would be better for Penske to have Brad Keselowski run this race, since he's not in the Chase, and the same is true regarding the #54 car of Kyle Busch. While Kyle will definitely get more useful information for the Cup race by running this race than last night's event, I would like to see Joe Gibbs not have Kyle run any races in the #54 car and focus on winning the Cup. Instead, it would not be a bad idea for Gibbs to have Denny Hamlin (if he's feeling up to it) or one of the development drivers run the #54 car for Kyle. Is the owner's championship in this series so important that it even trumps the Cup title, where Busch and Logano are concerned? 7. Black flag the liabilities, and let the start and parkers, erm, start and park, and that's it. You may want to limit the numbers on smaller venues, but I'm pretty sure Chicagoland is big enough to cope with 3 more NNS cars. 9. 83andJoe posted: 09.14.2013 - 3:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Actually, it's not - there are only 43 pit stalls. 10. Is the owner's championship in this series so important that it even trumps the Cup title, where Busch and Logano are concerned? Well, it's been speculated that the reason Penske wants the NNS owner's title so badly is so that he won't have to share the head table at the banquet with Coach Gibbs if Hornish wins the driver's championship. As for the 54, it comes down to sponsorship, once again - Monster Energy wants Kyle driving, because Kyle has a marketable brand, whereas (for instance) Drew Herring does not, and with the economy the way it is they don't want to gamble on building one up, as that can, potentially, backfire /spectacularly/ (just ask AT&T about Mike Borkowski). 14. jabber1990 posted: 09.14.2013 - 3:36 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) no prerace show? 15. Kyle Busch was just that much faster and had that much horsepower than anyone else. Actually, Dillon was in the perfect spot and Kyle simply blew by him on the straight, despite the fact that Dillon had the better line to get more straightaway speed. He did exactly the same thing to both Penske cars on every start/restart. When one car has about 20-30 HP more than everyone else on a high-speed track, and for the Nationwide Series cars, Chicago is nothing more than a 1.5 mile version of Michigan or Daytona in terms of flat-footing it all the way around, the only way that he's going to lose is if he has a problem of some kind, and Kyle never had that problem. Even when Brian Vickers was right on Kyle on a restart, Kyle pulled him four car lengths in turns one and two. Why do you think the Roush cars are so far off the Penske cars in this series? Because the Penske cars have about 30 HP more than the Roush cars because of the way they set up their engines, and handling doesn't come so much into play that it can negate such a horsepower disadvantage, and we saw a graphic illustration of that difference because both Roush cars got lapped, and even after unlapping himself through a wave-around, Trevor Bayne still couldn't go anywhere because his car was slow as a turd, and dropped during a part of the race where he usually charges. But in the Cup Series with the higher horsepower engines, handling is more of a factor, which is why Roush can at least keep up with Penske in the Cup Series, where in the Nationwide Series, the Roush cars are constantly in danger of getting lapped. 97. It was cool to see the old school Hooters paint scheme, even if it was on Nelsinho's car. If Monster Energy is going to be in Victory Lane every week, can they at least bring along some of the Supercross models to make it a little palatable? 98. The Roush cars, as was the case back when they had competition within Ford from Penske and Robert Yates, just don't have the horsepower, since they set up their engines too conservatively. It didn't show up when Roush was the only elite team running Fords, but now that there's another team running Fords, Roush's horsepower deficiency is showing up again, just as before. Now I know their cars aren't that good this year, but they're not that terrible. 101. 83andJoe posted: 09.14.2013 - 9:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #32 sponsor: Snickers Bites 102. ch posted: 09.14.2013 - 11:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor changes: 5 - Keen Parts / CorvetteParts.net 7 - AmericasPower.org / Clean Coal 79 - SK Hand Tools 87 - England's Stove Works 103. kyle busch very small posted: 09.15.2013 - 1:31 am Rate this comment: (5) (1) No two ways about it to go beat up drivers in smaller divisions you have to be greedy and have to be trying to compensate for something... 104.
