First time someone has double digit amount of poles in one year since Jeff Gordon back in 1992, when he won a record-setting 11 poles. Kyle Busch has a shot to tie it next weekend @ the season finale, Homestead. Ironically, as often as Kyle Busch dominates the Nationwide Series, this will be Kyle Busch's first Pole Award across the three NASCAR's National Series(Cup, Nationwide & Trucks). 5. While I'm of the opinion that you should have to win races to legitimatize your championship (my opinion, tear into me if you like), this would actually be a non-issue if Cup drivers were somehow limited in the number of races you they could run because Dillon and Hornish would probably have multiple wins. 14. I don't want to hear & read the hype everywhere about being the first driver, in the number 3 car, to win a championship in all three national series, something that Greg Biffle has failed to do, etc. Now I wouldn't mind if Austin can pull off one championship in Cup (I highly doubt it, but who knows, really), but I'm not a big fan of the Dillons either to be honest, and if I had to choose one, I prefer Austin to be successful over Ty. Though I'm more focused on what Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, Jeb Burton & the other young guns can accomplish. 15. Maybe I'm just naive or foolish, I don't know. There have been a few races this year where we've been offered a glimpse of something different, only to have it violently snatched away from us at the very end and instead we get the predictable end result. The best example I can think of is the second Richmond race where Brian Scott led nearly the entire race from start to finish, only for a rash of caution flags at the end of the race to allow the #22 to get ahead and win. Races like those are by FAR more disappointing than races in which the #22 or the #54 win in a total blowout. You know what...I think I'll take Paul's advice and probably skip at least half (if not more) of the Nationwide races next year. If Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski/Joey Logano are going to back behind the wheels of the #54 and the #22 next year like they almost certainly are going to be, there won't be much point in watching since we'll be in for a season virtually identical to this previous one. There would be no point in me watching the same dull, depressing, predictable season twice in a row. 86. Of course I don't know it as fact, Jim. But considering there are thousands of examples throughout human history where people or groups of people were more at odds with each other than NASCAR and the sponsors are (NASCAR and the sponsors ultimately have the same goal) and when the stakes were much higher have sat down and worked things out, I see no reason why NASCAR, owners, and sponsors could not work something out to make everyone happy. Generally speaking, compromise is a natural act for grown adults. Ironic history lesson: the Congress of the United States was founded on one of the greatest compromises of all time: the Connecticut Compromise. When the Constitution was drafted small states, like Connecticut, wanted Congressional representation to be equal for all states. Large states, such as Virginia, wanted representation based on population. The result was a bicameral legislature with one house based on population (the House of Representatives) and one with equal representation (the Senate). If those two warring factors, who interests could not be more opposite, can work out a compromise to help form a governing document to strengthen and help a struggling and relatively new nation become more unified, then sure two groups, whose interests are essentially the same, can sit down and work something out like grown men (and women) do. 88. cjs3872 posted: 11.09.2013 - 8:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Guys, I think that Austin Dillon may have been unhappy with Allgaier because of the block that Allgaier threw on the last lap. Any time Allgaier, Dillon, and Trevor Bayne are anywhere close to each other, fireworks are sure to follow. On one of those restarts around the two-thirds mark of the race, Allgaier tried to squeeze Bayne into the wall, and they were running 1-2-3 at one point briefly. But those three drivers just don't like each other for some reason. But Trevor Bayne made a comment on his radio that ESPN followed up on briefly, and that I've basically been saying all year. He said on that long green flag run that his car was handling good, but when he punched the throttle, that it had nothing because of the gearing. I've been saying that all year. The Roush cars have no punch coming off the corners because they run too conservative a gear ratio, which is why they're so far down on horsepower compared to the Penske cars, which basically run the same engines. It didn't show up in recent years because Roush was the only competitive Ford team, but when Penske rejoined Ford, the obvious horsepower disadvantage the Roush cars are at has shown up, both in the Cup Series and the Nationwide Series. But maybe Bayne's actually saying that on the radio will wake those guys at Roush up and get them to figure out that they have to run their engines harder to stay competitive with Penske, or next year will be like this year, if not worse. 89. Zack, this is just naive. They have sat down. They have worked things out. And what they came up with is that Monster Energy Drink, Hertz, Dollar General, etc will sponsor Nationwide rides as long as the drivers are Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, and Joey Logano, etc most of the time. This is the solution that the smart people in the marketing departments of those companies and those race teams came up with when they sat down and worked thinks out. The sponsors do not *need* NASCAR. The sponsors will spend their advertising budgets elsewhere if NASCAR can not offer good value. You will not pay as much for a Big Mac from McDonald's as you would for a steak from Outback. No amount of sitting down and working things out will change that. Monster Energy will not pay as much for Joey Coulter or Drew Herring as they would for Kyle Busch. And no amount of sitting down and working things out will change *that*. 91. 83andJoe posted: 11.09.2013 - 9:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) #2 sponsor: Whitetail Club (same for spring Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Fontana) #23 sponsor: PocketFinder 92. The only thing I really have to say is that this is just the way it is now, I guess. I just have to learn to accept that this series is now nothing more than a Cup driver jungle gym. It's not getting any better, and after this year, they'll probably make it even worse somehow (Chase) since the champion is most likely gonna be a guy that has no wins. The sooner I accept that this series is a complete 180 of everything I used to love about it, the better. Hell, maybe I should just realize that about all of Nascar in general. 94. b4il3y posted: 11.10.2013 - 1:56 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Glad I wasn;t able to watch this. Something needs to be done. I DONT CARE ABOUT WHAT "MONEY" might be made for these cup guys.. something. Has. To. Be. Done. And I'll call it.. ratings for the "Nationwise Busch" series next year. 95. b4il3y posted: 11.10.2013 - 1:58 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) And before any banter.. yeah, a guy who won ZERO races is about to win, while a guy who won TWELVE from the cup series is about to make off with all the money that should've went to someone else. There is something wrong here. Change it. Or, you will lose viewers. And money..which is what you care about. 96. Kligerman is now only 1 point behind Larson, thanks to his more consistent performances with considerably less sponsorship. Given how hyped Larson is, I would LOVE Kligerman beating him for ROTY. 97. His rookie Nationwide season was 2010 because he made more than seven starts that season (12 starts). Although he could beat out Kyle Larson in points and rank as the highest finishing driver in their first full-time Nationwide Series season, he would not be able to win ROTY simply because he's not eligible for that award. The only full-time ROTY contenders are Larson and Alex Bowman. I haven't checked the current rookie points standings, but I would guess that Larson has that award wrapped, and probably has for some time. 100. startandparkfan posted: 11.11.2013 - 4:49 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Hopefully if Dillon becomes the champion with no wins, NASCAR will realize what a problem these cup regulars are for this series. I mean really, 12 wins for Kyle Busch and only 4 wins among N-wide regulars? Pathetic. 101.
