I'm going to miss this because I'm going to a party... I feel like Ben Affleck right now with the Red Sox. They're now 0-15 on his birthday since Good Will Hunting was released. (My birthday is also August 15th, I've never seen the Red Sox win on my birthday...) Heh, I might just DVR this race, something I haven't done with a NASCAR race since 2010. 2. Seriously, though, I don't think its Kyle and Brad whose stinking up the show in NNS, I think it's Joe and Rodger. If you put those two in KBR and BKR equipment the playing field would be a hell of a lot more level. 4. McDowell would have been a much better choice for this race but Habul's not a bad driver himself. He's had several good runs in his own equipment that haven't resulted in good finishes. I think they will because Roush needs new blood. The recent driver exodus from Roush isn't necessarily a bad thing. The only problem is they needed to keep Kenseth and let Biffle and Carl go IMO. Also, I am really not sold on Stenhouse. He is barely ahead of his girlfriend in points. 247. I don't think it's a bad or EVIL thing for a driver to get help from their family in their career (it is nice to get any kind of help you can to get into the sport, plus I fully understand a family wanting to help their loved one achieve their dreams), but if not for the fact that his father owned the race team, I doubt he would have gotten a ride otherwise. I will say that Ware did a pretty good job in his debut, though...a lot better than I expected he would run. 249. 1995z71 posted: 08.16.2014 - 7:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Congrats to Chris, meanwhile his older brother James had another ghost weekend. I've follow the Rick Ware Racing team on facebook and you won't believe how much that team goes through. Rick Ware was a halfway decent road course driver during his career, winning multiple races in minor league sports car series and his son Cody has been following a similar path. Cody has ran 3 whelen southern modified series races over the past year, with two top 15 finishes, so while I knew enough about him to know he wasn't the worst driver out there, I wasn't expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. A 15th place finish and $20,300 in prize money is like a win to that team and I wouldn't be surprised to see Cody make some more NNS starts this year. 251. I'm sure it will, given there's no bigger (>15 points) gap within this group anymore. Each of these drivers is 14 or less points back from the one in the next position up. The only bigger gap before this afternoon was Dillon-Scott. Scott was way ahead of Dillon then, so, this gap shrank to 14 points. Under the rule of 60, none of these drivers is ruled out, though when we go deep in this group, that's long shot territory under this rule. To take the lead, any of these drivers would need to gain less than 5 points per race, on average. After a certain point in this group, it's improbable for all the ground to be made up perhaps, but not impossible. If Chase Elliott and Regan Smith get into a points battle with each other and Ty Dillon and Brian Scott do this, points battle each other, a lot could change in three months. Perhaps what cjs said could happen when he mentioned the points battling between teammates. 257. The driver means waaaaay more than the car on road courses. Buescher qualified 9 positions higher than Bayne and finished 9 positions higher than Bayne. He also won in ARCA last year at Road America. Clearly, he's a pretty good road course racer. A Roush turnaround means something at tracks where engineering is everything. Road courses are notoriously NOT all about engineering. 259. I wasn't trying to compare him to anyone specific in that car comment, just kind of a general compare. Maybe at another track that's more car-focused, we can truly see if Biffle's right. Bristol's next and then Atlanta, so if either or both of these have more car focus than a road race, it'll show us what truth may be in Biffle's statement. 266. joey2448 posted: 08.18.2014 - 5:00 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bristol isn't much better of a determining factor in car performance than a road course, racefangurl. We gave it a good run but the expenses were to much this year with my grandma dying. I want Brad Keselowski to win the truck race (i am pretty sure i read somewhere that Brad said he wouldnt run trucks anymore if he won once) Trevor Bayne to win the NNS race ( Maybe Roush really is getting hot), and Marcos Ambrose to win the cup race (Not actually that far out there if you think about it, based on the spring he or Stenhouse could win, but Ambrose has been better this year. 273. numbah10hatah posted: 08.18.2014 - 6:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) -_- Great. On the Nationwide end, I'd probably scream if Trevor Bayne won his last points-earning Bristol Nationwide race. He's won two Nationwide races and I got excited and screamed both. He has led laps at Bristol and his best Nationwide finish there is 6th. This was at the '10 and '13 night races. In '12, he was fastest in practice and the night race pole. His first Bristol night race, he was 4 laps down, but was running every lap at that race after that. The night race seems a little better to him. His best start and finish are 2nd in '12 and 8th in '12 and '14. Most of this I got from his stats here, but the fastest in practice bit, I remember from incorporation in some of my NASAR fan fiction. If you need verification of his fastest in practice, search "trevor bayne" Bristol fastest practice. I tested it and paddocktalk.com and roushfenway.com still carry that message. 275. racefangurl posted: 08.19.2014 - 11:20 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I even remember where he's won, Texas and Iowa.
