Speaking of Bueschers, I really hope Roush gets cousin James into that #6 car next year (I'm of the opinion that the two are pretty equally talented, but James has the shittier ride by far). It would be cool to see the two move up to Cup together. Maybe if Stenhouse puts up another dud next year, one could get into that ride while the other would either replace an aging Biffle in the #16 or move into a fourth car. 50. And even if James' contract doesn't expire after this year (although I think it does), my guess is RAB would be willing to part ways with him if it meant him getting a better opportunity. I think Trevor will be a lot better suited in the Cup cars than these NNS cars. He has already shown himself to be a very methodical and patient racer, so I think that will play right into his wheelhouse once he is in Cup full time (as opposed to someone like Stenhouse, whose hard driving style is better suited for these lighter NNS cars and shorter NNS races). I don't think Trevor will light the world on fire right away, but I do see him having a pretty good rookie season. He's gonna be the number one driver at Roush basically by default now that Carl will be gone (Biffle is getting older, and Stenhouse has clearly underperformed his entire tenure there so far), so I think we'll see them put a lot of their focus on Trevor. I think he'll be okay next year, and in the long run, I see him having a pretty nice Clint Bowyer type Cup career. 96. racefangurl posted: 10.04.2014 - 6:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) At some races this year, only including when they both qualified Bayne was ahead, other times Buescher was ahead. Guys like Jimmie Johnson make this theory of drivers driving styles only working with certain cars very believable. As for Trevor next year i can't see him doing any better than say Austin has this year in cup, which isn't bad especially for a rookie, but its not that good either. Also to me anyways, Roush seems to be going the way that Yates did in the mid 2000's. Losing their best driver in Carl is really gonna hurt that team. Biffle is well Biffle, and Stenhouse can seem lost out on the track at times. I don't really think Trevor is gonna get much out of these two next year which is gonna hinder his development a bit. I guess what I'm trying to say is, If Trevor wants to even have a "Clint Bowyer type of career" as you put it, he might need to change teams at some point because idk if Roush will be able to give that to him moving forward. 100. To be fair, though - I feel like any time Trevor Bayne is shown during a Nationwide race, he's overdriving the car. When it's not handling well, he seems to make it handle worse. He might be okay in Cup but I don't think he'll ever have Edwards' success, and I think Biffle is a more talented driver. Hard to believe he has 55 cup starts already, so he shouldn't have the rookie learning curve next year, outside of gelling with a new Cup team. 101. dennyfan11 posted: 10.04.2014 - 7:03 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Ban cup guys fron the series and i will be so happy. 102. The problem isn't as much of the cup drivers but the schedule nascar puts together. Look at a Nationwide schedule from 15-20 years ago and compare it to this years. The amount of companion races have gone wayyyyyyyyy up! Lets look at it for a second. Outside of Iowa this year when Brad flew in from Pocono the Cup guys aren't showing up to the races that are not at the same track where they are at for that weekend. Maybe if they split the races up more you wouldn't have as many cup guys racing and subsequently winning these races in the lower series. 107. Heck Dale Sr. one the first race in what was then the Busch Series, and that was after he had already won one of his Cup championships." Back then you didn't have Cup teams dominating the series, with the exception being Roush which was still relatively new to the Cup series. You also didn't have Cup drivers running 15+ races a season, which is why you didn't have Cup guys win the championship until 2005. And most most the Cup guys running back then weren't really championship material for the Cup series, with the exceptions being Dales Sr and Mark Martin. Though my facts might be wrong. 108. The only Cup guys over 15 races run in the nationwide series this year are Kyle and Shockingly Matt Kenseth. Harvick is at 14 so he'll probably get over that 15+ before the end of the year. I've been watching Nascar for about 20 years now. while there has always been some grumbling about Cup guys in the lower series it didn't seem to get as loud as it is now until about 2009, which is the same year that Kyle Won the Nationwide Title. Compared to all the other drivers Kyle runs the most in the lower series. As of right now I don't think any cup driver outside of kyle is gonna run more than 19 or 20 races. Meanwhile Kyle is on pace to run 26... Kyle is the only one that runs this much in the lower series. It's been like this for many years now. He's the only one who constantly seems to run more than the 15 or so races that Mark ran in the 90's. I honestly can't help but feel this is a "we can't stand Kyle winning" problem more than a "we don't Cup guys in the lower series" problem. Yes i know people always complain when a cup guy wins one of these races, but it always seems louder when Kyle wins than when say a Larson, Menard, Harvick, Logano, and heck even Keselowski wins. 111. And now, it appears that Roush has begun to focus more on Chris Buescher and the #60 team, which is Roush's flagship NNS team (much like the #6 is in the Cup Series), so Trevor's performances have begun to wane somewhat, especially compared to earlier this season, when he and the #6 team was the focus of Roush's NNS attention. Remember that when Buescher was in the top three, Bayne was struggling just to stay above 15th place at times, and ever since the announcement that Bayne was moving to the Cup Series next year, he's struggled even more while Buescher's effort has notably progressed, so any real good run Bayne has the rest of the season is a surprise since his team's not getting the attention that Buescher's team is getting. But I will say that the team Bayne will be with will effectively be a brand new team, because with Jimmy Fennig's retirement, there is no crew chief for that team either, and who knows what's going to happen regarding the personnel of what's currently the #99 car, so that's really going to be a new team, and it's my opinion that he needs to give Bayne an experienced crew chief, which was the mistake he made with Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. last year, which got him behind in terms of development in the Cup Series. And while Bayne figures to be better in the Cup Series than in the Nationwide Series, he also needs a veteran to help guide him, but if he gets that, he'll be the #1 driver at Roush before too long, as long as Bayne's health holds up and Roush's age (72) doesn't catch up to that operation. 115. nascar_vd / racing-reference.info posted: 10.05.2014 - 5:12 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Larson and Duno = same fight ! And Trevor has never finished outside the top-15 without a reason, like a cut tire or a crash. Even when he was 15th or better, sometimes he had a minor crash and recovered, like the 1st Kentucky race. He had a little crash with Chase Elliott to overcome. 117. Regan also has more top 5s than everyone other than Chase. The closest anyone is in the top 5 column to Chase is HALF. It's pretty clear that the guy leading the points deserves to be there because he's been the best full time Nationwide driver. Who the heck cares about pie?
