Agreed. Admittedly part of that is due to how good Penske is as a team, but Blaney is the most talented driver not currently in Sprint Cup IMO. 63. murb posted: 10.10.2014 - 10:45 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Glad I missed Brad winning another meaningless NNS race. If you are going to stop watching the series just because Chase is the champ, maybe you should reevaluate why you watch any car racing because that logic makes no sense. He has been the best points driver in probably 90% of the races and actually has competed with some of the Cup guys. You would be more logical if you said you'd stop watching because Dillon won last year or if Chase doesn't win this year 67. racefangurl posted: 10.10.2014 - 11:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) Dillon wasn't an 18 year old rookie. 68. As long as they don't perform the most epic choke job of all time, it's almost a guarantee at this point that he will be the champion. I still have absolutely no clue as to why him being only 18 years old matters whatsoever. He's been hands down the best driver in this series all year, and deserves it more than anyone else. Period. 70. murb posted: 10.10.2014 - 11:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Also, for what it's worth, I was just looking at the 2015 Xfinity Series (it's gonna take a while to get used to that, for sure) page on Wikipedia, and they have Chris Buescher listed as the driver of the #6 next year. I don't know if this has been confirmed or if it's true (Wikipedia isn't exactly the most reliable source for anything), but if it is true, then it sounds like Roush will only be a two car NXS team next year, with Chris Buescher being the top priority (Reed will be the wingman/only there because of sponsorship driver). I like Chris Buescher a lot and I think he has a ton of talent, but I was kind of hoping they would stick with three cars and run David Ragan in the #6. I really think it would do Ragan a ton of good confidence wise to take the Hornish/Smith route and do a full year of NNS (or NXS, ugh). It could still happen with another team (though there really aren't a lot of other good rides left, unless Sadler leaves Gibbs or something), but due to his history with Roush (as well as how he has performed in his one off drives in the #98, a below average team), I thought the #6 would be the perfect fit. Oh well. Hopefully Ragan can land a good ride somewhere (I was pretty vocal about preferring Hornish for the #9 Cup car over him, but I still think David has grown a lot and deserves a good opportunity somewhere), and hopefully Roush's downsize will do Chris Buescher some good, because in a good car, he should easily be contending for more wins in this series. 71. cjs3872 posted: 10.10.2014 - 11:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well, this was certainly an atypical race for Charlotte, because there were two big wrecks in this race, and as a result, basically half the field were involved in wrecks in this race. Of the 40 cars that started, a total of 19 were involved in wrecks, including 11 on the first lap and another six on lap 76. While the eventual results could have been predicted, the way the race played out certainly could not have been. Overall, a race at Charlotte is not one that teams fear having to fix wrecked cars like a restrictor plate race would be, but the carnage this race produced was certainly worthy of a restrictor plate race at Daytona or Talladega. 72. What a surprise...Though it does seem like this was a fairly eventful race considering there were two big multi-car incidents in this race that wiped out quite a number of cars (one at the start, to boot!) And seriously, I am getting sick of racefangurl constantly moaning about how Elliott does not deserve the championship because he is an 18 year-old rookie and how she intends to boycott this series entirely if he wins the championship. Seriously, Regan Smith deserves to win the title more because he's older and more experienced? I like Regan, but Elliott has CLEARLY outclassed his teammate all season long. If Smith deserved to win the title more, then he would be stepping his performance up and running better than Chase; instead, he continues to consistently finish behind him and fall further and further behind in the points. Seeing as Chase now has basically a full race advantage over Smith in points with just three races left in the season...I can NOT honestly see him losing this title. For him to lose the championship would require an EPIC chokejob on his part, and considering his performance thus far this year, I seriously doubt that is going to happen. I'm going to say it right here and right now: Chase Elliott WILL be your 2014 Nationwide Series champion. And racefangurl will have to eat that pie in the sky she loves talking about so much. If I'm wrong, I will be happy to eat some pie of my own accord. 75. It's a battle for 2nd in the final 3 races if we include all the top-5, though. The realistic name lock still holds for the top-6, as long as none miss multiple races. The top-6 can move around within. If Sadler had trouble, like a blown engine and Trevor had a top-10 finish in the next race, he could reach 5th. There's less than a race spread from 3rd-6th. Mathematically, no one outside the top-6 can climb past 3rd. It's realistically a JR Motorsports championship. Chase could have a bad race or two. He could get wrecked by someone like Dylan Kwasaniewsi and DNF, be overaggressive or be a victim of someone else's overdriving, have car trouble, like a bad setup or mechanical issue or just think it's all but impossible for someone to catch him in points. He's a rookie so I think he could choke. It's like post 73 says. Anything can happen, like bad luck or any kind of choke. And as far as me eating pie, maybe on Thanksgiving. That's a huge factor. 94. racefangurl posted: 10.12.2014 - 7:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) You mean the Nationwide's crazy? 95. Maybe I've been irrationally emotional about them. Smith as title winner wouldn't make my top-5 drivers (they're two-wide at 4th four-wide at 5th) look bad, since they're younger than Smith. Trevor Bayne, Joey Logano, Martin Truex, Jr. are 1-2-3, respectively. Joey's a close 2nd to Trevor and Truex is a distant 3rd. Landon Cassill and Austin Dillon are tied at 4th on my list, as are Cole Whitt, Ty Dillon, Jeffrey Earnhardt and Ryan Truex at 5th. 3rd-4th and 4th-5th are closer than 2nd-3rd. 5th-6th is a moderate gap. 6th is drivers I almost like, but some issue gets in the way. Here's the drivers tied at 6th on my list Steve Park, even in '11, was an old guy. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. says s*** too much and is kind of an old guy. Danica Patrick cusses too bad. Justin Allgaier and Michael McDowell are nobodies. These are more or less permanent at 6th. Regan Smith is a temporary at 6th, for a variety of reasons. He's said to be a nice guy and he could redeem himself for last year, with a little, maybe a little more than little help from Chase. If Chase chokes and Regan Smith keeps on with his h***uva season, in a good way. I think Smith's top-10 king, as in most top-10's . 97. Martin Truex, Jr. is the exception, but he won't look too bad either way. 99. joey2448 posted: 10.14.2014 - 8:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Dale Earnhardt, Jr. says s*** too much and is kind of an old guy. And who cares if he and Danica use curse words every now and then? And yeah, since Allgaier and McDowell are "nobodies", that's good enough reason to not be a fan of theirs. 100. racefangurl posted: 10.15.2014 - 9:30 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'm 24, 25 next month. Junior's 40 now and I've heard that's an old fart in sports. Danica reportedly said the f word on the radio at Kansas. I think Danica was a JR Motorsports driver in her Nationwide days. Speaking of JR Motorsports, it seems to me their drivers this year are the highest in top-5's and top-10's. As in one leads in top-5's and the other in top-10's. When was the last time a team swept Rookie of the Year and champ in Nationwide, like JR Motorsports is on track to do? 101. It's hard for me to imagine it ending up as it is in the Nationwide, at least in regard to the leader, due to that. I'll try to be less like that at some point after the Texas race, but I'll believe the driver in 2nd place has a chance until he's mathematically eliminated. 107. racefangurl posted: 10.31.2014 - 10:57 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I guess nobody cares what Clayton Caldwell and especially, Mark Eddinger thought. 108. racefangurl posted: 11.01.2014 - 9:20 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The Nationwide break ends this afternoon.
