Seeing how the #22 comes into this race with a pretty significant lead and the only way the #54 can beat them is if Brad has a horrible day and finishes really poorly (VERY unlikely), there's not really much of a championship battle there, either. But I'm sure ESPN will hype it up just the same... Probably going to have to miss most of this race, but I can already guess that either Kyle or Brad will win this one. On the plus side, this is the FINAL Nationwide race ESPN will cover, and that is always a plus! 4. racefangurl posted: 11.15.2014 - 2:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) The top-6 in points qualified in Elliott Sadler, Brian Scott, Trevor Bayne, Chase Elliott, Regan Smith and Ty Dillon. If you don't like me here, even with my reformed attitude in regard to Chase, I'll leave this section after the checkered flags falls at Homestead. But I won't do the farewell post I had planned, about Chase Elliott, a P6 penalty and a boycott of dumbed down racing. I called off the boycott and I won't bash Chase today. Someone said he should've done that this year, Truck raced." I agree that he should be down in Trucks next year (and should have been this year), but since Turner Scott Motorsports is blowing up, they aren't even gonna have a Truck team. So it looks like he'll be back in NXS in a full on Ganassi car (Ganassi is apparently taking over Turner's NXS team). Hopefully he'll be able to improve with a full year under his belt, but if not, I'm afraid I don't see anything good happening for him in the future at all. The biggest thing was that there was some type of falling out between Turner and Scott. It's really not a huge surprise to me. From the moment he came into the sport, Turner has seemed like a complete joker. Whether it was firing Reed Sorenson when he was TOP FIVE in NNS points, or just biting off way more than he could chew and trying to run a ridiculous amount of teams in the NNS and Truck Series, that team has just always seemed like a giant mess. That's really confusing. They put out a press release in like August saying that Snap On was gonna sponsor "one of their NXS cars", so logically that would have to mean that they are bringing the #12 team back for him to run full time (plus, why else would he be running this many races at the end of the year in the #12? - surely as a tuneup for next year, right?). I've been saying it for a couple weeks now about Bubba Wallace, and now I guess I'm gonna have to say it about Ryan Blaney. It's gonna be really f**king stupid if both of these guys don't have full time rides, especially since both of their owners ESSENTIALLY ALREADY ANNOUNCED BOTH OF THEM AS HAVING FULL TIME RIDES NEXT YEAR (hell, JD Gibbs even said Bubba would have a full time ride for sure when they announced Daniel Suarez). To just back peddle out of that for whatever reason at the end of the season is incredibly stupid. If you aren't entirely sure if you are gonna run guys full time, then maybe don't announce and/or heavily hint at it in August. It's a damn shame that some of these owners (specifically Penske and Gibbs, obviously) are so scared of trying to run guys full time without full sponsorship. I've trashed Jack Roush a ton over his driver development mishaps over the years, but one thing I really admire about him is that he's always been very good at at least giving guys shots in full time rides (Chris Buescher right now being a prime example). A lot of them don't work out, but at least he gives guys opportunities. And like I said on the Truck page, when it's someone like Ryan Blaney or Bubba Wallace, I don't give a damn about what your sponsorship situation is. You're a millionaire race team owner. Make it work. These guys are easily two of the most talented guys to come through in the last 10 or 15 years. You're really gonna stunt their growth just because you're afraid of a little investment? 237. For one thing, sponsorship shouldn't be an issue for Roger Penske. That part is a little more understandable for me with JGR, but Penske? He's literally a billionaire, by all estimations. He really can't pay for like a quarter of an NXS season out of his own pocket for Ryan Blaney, who honestly might be the best "homegrown" talent he's ever had in Nascar (remember that Rusty, Brad, and Logano all came from different places - Newman is the only one he really discovered, and I think Blaney is already ridiculously better than Newman)? You can't be serious. If Jack Roush can do it with a lot less money in his pocket, then Penske could absolutely swing it. It would totally be worth it, for a variety of reasons. First of all, Ryan Blaney can absolutely beat Chase Elliott for the NXS title next year if he runs full time. He clearly knows these types of race cars (as evidenced by his 2 career wins, including one where he beat Kyle Busch with a wrecked race car at Bristol), and Penske clearly has the muscle equipment wise. Why would you not take advantage of that? Go win a championship, get more exposure for Ryan since sponsorship appears to be an issue, and perhaps most importantly, give Ryan some much needed seat time to go along with his part time Cup schedule next year. It just blows my mind that we have problems like this in this series. The sponsors and owners are gonna stunt the growth of some of these excellent up-and-comers if they aren't careful. Nascar NEEDS all of these guys to be the top dogs in Cup a few years from now, but if they don't get the necessary training in the lower series right now, then it's gonna be a hell of a lot harder for that to happen. 240. Winning another owner's championship is more important than fielding a full-time ride for one of the most promising young talents in the top 3 series? You have GOT to be kidding me. And yeah, the fact that the sponsors are having SO much say-so in who gets to race in the lower series and who doesn't is just so asinine. It disgusts me to think that thanks to them, top talents like Darrell Wallace or Ryan Blaney could just be thrown aside and cast out of the sport while minimally talented drivers like John Wes Townley or Milka Duno could start appearing in Cup someday soon due to the mere fact that they have guaranteed sponsorship (and the money it brings with that). 242.
