Lewandoski was actually somewhere in the early-30's speed wise but was shuffled back do to NASCAR's provisional system. 9. However, only the top 33 teams are locked in by speeds, after that it reverts to owner points and in that case the #89 team clearly has more 11. Matt L posted: 03.14.2015 - 3:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Shepherd is 42nd in owner points and should eligible for a provisional over Lewandowski unless there's a clause in the rules nobody knows. The other scenario is maybe Shepherd withdrew. 12. Sarf52 posted: 03.14.2015 - 3:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I believe that 34-39 are set by owner points, while 40th is set aside for the fastest remaining qualifier. Despite Shepherd having a decent amount of speed for the first time in months (years?) the other slower cars were higher in owner points and had precedent over Shepherd for the 6 provisional slots. 13. For me the main story of the weekend was RFR: having started the season on a high note, all four teams within organization soon began to struggle. Las Vegas was bad, Phoenix even worse. I'm not sure what's going on, but I bet Sadler and Wallace expected to be much more competitive. And a thought that scares me a bit: with his current form Ty Dillon might earn the title in the similar fashion as his elder brother did, i.e. without wins, just top-10ing his way to the title. 85. CrazyNASCARFan posted: 03.16.2015 - 11:52 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ty, if he won the title that way would be just like his brother. It's his second year in the series, which is where Austin was when he won his championship. But, even though Ty's a good driver, I don't think Chldress cars are good enough to beat JR Motorsports. The JR Motorsports drivers had 26 top-10's each last year, which was more than anyone else. I admit Ty has more top-10's now, but I don't think it will last. If the JR Motorsports drivers hadn't crashed at Daytona I bet 1 of them would be on top of the heap now. I'm pretty sure they'll climb soon. The drivers between Chase and Smith don't have as many top-5's and top-10's as the JR Motorsports drivers. Same with Chris Buescher and even Ryan Reed. Ryan has a win, but he has no top-5's or top-10's other than that win. Even though Chase trails Ty in top-10's, he matches him in top-5's. Ryan unless he's better than he was, is a driver I expect to fall from the top-10. Bubba, Chris and Ty I expect will stay in the top 5, since they seem like good drivers. Regan Smith is who I expect to replace Ryan. Smith is only one point behind Gaughan and 11 points from the top 5, which is almost nothing this early in the year. In a nutshell,I imagine Chase Elliott, Regan Smith, Chris, Ty and Bubba to be the top 5 before too long. I think JR Motorsports has better cars than Roush or Childress and cream rises to the top. 87.
