So you want him to be like Logano was in his first few years in cup? Okay then." 100% different scenario. No one though Joey was ready to take over the 20 ride. He had a grand total of 20 starts in the Trucks and Xfinity series before his first full time cup season which all came in the same year. Erik will have over 50 starts by the time this season is over over the course of the last 3 seasons. He has a lot more track time than Joey did. Also if he dosen't end up in cup next year who knows how long it will be until he gets there. Assuming Denny doesn't leave he's gonna be there for at least 3 seasons. Carl and Kyle aren't leaving anytime soon either and I think Kenseth is signed through at least 2017. I highly doubt Erik's gonna wait until 2018 at to get a Cup ride. If Gibbs is smart they'll find a way to get him in a cup car as soon as they can. 101. murb posted: 04.10.2015 - 11:18 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Congrats to Erik. The dude is just scary talented. Before this year, I would have said the #11 would have been Erik's quickest chance at a Cup ride, but it really seems as though Denny has been rejuvenated with Dave Rogers' presence, so now I really don't see Denny leaving JGR anytime soon. One scenario I actually really think we should watch for over the next couple years: Maybe JGR/Toyota works out some sort of deal with Kyle Busch that brings KBM up to Cup (essentially creating JGR's version of SHR, with Kyle owning and driving), and then Erik either gets the #18 or ends up in a second KBM car as Kyle's teammate. Seriously, there's been a lot of talk lately about the lack of information sharing between JGR and other teams (specifically coming from Kyle himself), so I actually wouldn't be shocked to see it happen. It would give JGR and Toyota another top-tier team, and it would also give Erik (who, again, is easily one of the most talented young drivers to come along in a LONG time) a full time Cup ride. Two birds with one stone, basically. So I'm actually gonna be watching for something crazy like that to happen. Because you're right, now with Denny competitive again (I really doubt he leaves now), there really are no openings at JGR for at least a couple more years (unless Kenseth pulls a Gordon and retires), and clearly Erik is gonna be ready by 2017. So I really don't think something like that is totally out of the realm of possibility. 104. Extra props to Jones for even holding off a hard charging Earnhardt Jr and Keselowski. I'll agree with everyone when I say this kid will be a future Cup champion. Also great job to Jeff Gordon for doing an awesome job with the Fox Sports commentary. This man easily has the voice to do NASCAR races in the near future. Anyway, awesome race last night. Looking forward to the rest of this motorsports week. 110. 1995z71 posted: 04.13.2015 - 2:05 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Crazy but Chase Elliott has only led 1 lap in 6 races. 111. Chase Elliott won in his 6th start (and backed that up with another win in his 7th start), and Ryan Blaney in his 15th attempt. Looking forward to seeing these kids at the top level. 113. murb posted: 04.14.2015 - 4:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "-Ryan Blaney in the #22" Logano will now drive it for some reason. Really dumb. I was looking forward to seeing Ryan go for two in a row at Bristol. 114. CrazyNASCARFan posted: 04.14.2015 - 8:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Murb, I bet it was sponsor driven. The sponsor was more willing to sponsor a Cup driver, like Logano, so they replaced Ryan with him. 115.
