I don't disagree, but I also don't think Austin is MUCH better. Austin has done a nice job of getting solid finishes in Cup throughout his entire tenure there, but he's never done anything that has totally blown me away. Meanwhile, Brian has had some decent to good races in the #33 car (even if it is funded by RCR when he runs it, it's clearly just an afterthought R/D team) in Cup that I've been very impressed with (a 13th at Vegas this year, for example - as well as some good runs elsewhere). Yeah, Austin is better and has done a lot more in the lower series, but I wouldn't say Brian is exactly a scrub. And also, I somewhat disagree with the "Scott has had great equipment for his whole NXS career". The #11 car at JGR was always garbage (Elliott Sadler immediately took a nosedive when he went there after some very successful years at KHI/RCR), and RCR as a whole hasn't been nearly as good as Penske, JGR, and JRM in this series over the past few years. So really, Brian has been in very good equipment and has done a mostly good job throughout that time (and the 0 wins is also a little deceiving - he could easily be sitting with about two or three career wins - 2013 Fall Richmond where he led all but ten laps, and one of the Indianapolis races where he was leading with like two to go but got passed by Kyle Busch - he also finished a close 2nd at Chicago one other year IIRC). 80. While I agree that Austin is the better of the two to say Ty's numbers in the trucks were FAR behind his brothers is simply untrue. In 10 in 11 when Austin was in the Trucks he had 50 starts with 4 wins 17 top 5's 32 top 10's and 12 poles. Ty in 12 and 13 only had 44 starts due the reduction of the Trucks schedule and still managed 3 wins 16 top 5's 29 top 10's and 4 poles. Ty didn't have to race against these people, he had J.Buescher, Crafton, Sauter, COULTER and Burton as his rivals in a field of 17-18 trucks per week. Also, as stated before me, Ty just had to step in the championship-winning truck. Of course, he didn't do bad, but it is obvious that he is worse than Austin by a bigger margin than many of you think. Of course, this is just my opinion and Ty has all the time and money in the world to prove me wrong. 93. Austin was against a still top-form Onion and Hornaday, Almirola in what is a truck on par with any other, in a field where at least 22-23 trucks ran the distance every week." Ok while this part is true it is also very misleading. While Todd did win the Championship in 2010 his 2011 season was one of his worst seasons as he failed to win a race and only scored 5 top 5's and 11 top 10's. Yes this was mainly due to his team running into problems forcing him to drive the majority of the season for Randy Moss, but still he wasn't close to being top-form. Hornaday, like Todd also had a very down year during the two seasons Austin was in the Trucks, his being in the 2010 season. Lastly Almirola wasn't even in the Trucks during the 2011 season. I guess what I'm trying to say is while these drivers were good during this time period, they were not all good at the same time. "Ty didn't have to race against these people, he had J.Buescher, Crafton, Sauter, COULTER and Burton as his rivals in a field of 17-18 trucks per week." This however is much harder to argue. Buescher, Crafton, and Sauter are all good drivers who I do feel you are somewhat undervaluing in this statement by comparing them with Coulter and Burton. While none of them put up numbers like Todd did in 2010, Buescher and Crafton were at least able to put up a season with numbers in the ballpark of Horaday's 2011 season which had him in championship contention with Austin until his incident with Kyle at Texas took him out. While I can agree that the competition Ty faced was lower than what Austin did I feel the gap between it is a lot less than you do. 94. In my time of caring about this series to any degree, it's been on the Sonoma Cup weekend when they've had the Road America race. Guess I'll have to pay attention to K&N today as a replacement. Why? Because that's a race and I'm a crazy NASCAR fan, that's why. 96.
