While no-one would say that he is a great driver, everyone and I mean EVERYONE knows Kenny Wallace is a GREAT guy. He is everything Mikey wants to be, genuine, entertaining and funny. Starting 7th in his last race, he might even be in contention to win. Really good job by Self to get a grid spot like 19th. just about what Cassill usually gets with the #01. 3. Herring did this once before, and even got a pole IIRC, then stepped aside for somebody else to race. 8. Peter posted: 08.01.2015 - 6:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Who screwed Elliott?" NASACR did. He was clearly across the start line when time ran out, so he should have been allowed to run that lap 9. So a race like tonight should have a good turn out using that logic. Xfinity races when at a track with the Cup cars probably still get around 30,000-50,000 people to show up. Michael while he never won a points race on a non plate track he did contend for the win on occasion and hell he did win the All Star race in 96. It might not be a points race but it's still a win against the best Cup drivers on 1.5 mile non plate track. I have yet to see Ryan contend on a track outside of Daytona or Dega so until he does I don't even think you can say he' the Xfinity equivalent of Michael. 76. If you told people in 2012 after he won the East Championship he would only have 3 NASCAR National Series wins by the middle of 2015 they'd probably woud have called you an idiot. I'm not saying Larson is bad, but I don't think he's been as good as people make him out to be. I mean people act like he's gonna be the next Cup Superstar. Just some corrections since i'm a Jr fan lol. Once the race got going, I thought he first half was pretty uneventful. I don't know what the plan was for MBM (the 13 and 40 team) this weekend, but both cars ran just a few laps in practice, were well off the pace and out before lap 50. Pretty disappointing. Things picked up the last 50 laps that resulted in a lot of damage and anger, but most of it was just hard racing. Congrats to Ryan Blaney on the win. Kudos to Brendan Gaughan for giving it all he had without wrecking Blaney. Kudos to Ross Chastain. Ryan Sieg and Kenny Wallace for running strong all night and earning top 15 finishes. It wasn't the run I was hoping for for Kenny, but it could have been worse. Gibbs is terrible at managing talent, he signed Edwards when he easily could have put Bubba in the 19 instead. But now he's gotfour drivers that will be in cup for the forseeable future and three extremely talented drivers who have no where to go. At least with Roush there's a chance Biffle could be gone soon. But it's likely the ride will go to Beuscher. Also #196, I didn't watch Dover so I am inn o rite to give an opinion on it. 217. The racing between Austin and Denny that race was great, but instead of talking about it, everyone just bitched that a cup guy won the race. I say it every week Cup guys have raced in this series since the very first race. If you want to get mad at anyone get mad at the Cup owners for bringing more money and better equipment into the series which has run the little teams out, but don't get made at the drivers. The majority of them would still be there racing for their own team even if their Cup owners weren't forcing them to race to please the sponsors. 219. I think Penske is the only big team that doesn't have a guy close to 40 on the team right now there's gonna be a few opening over the next few year. some due to age and some do to contracts. Like I don't think Gibbs is gonna resign Hamlin. They have to get rid of someone soon to allow Jones to get into the Cup series and Denny's contract seems to be up after next year. He's in a spot similar to what Kasey Kahne was in where he would have been bumped out of HMS had Jeff not decided to retire. Unless Kenseth decides to hang it up Denny is gonna be the odd guy out. 224. luigistarted06 posted: 08.01.2015 - 11:40 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) I feel like Nascar is in a really weird spot right now. There are a lot of talented drivers in top equipment who probably have 5 or 6 years left (Dale Jr, Harvick, Newman, Johnson, Kurt Busch, etc) and yet you have so much talent that's ready to go right now. Drivers like Cassill, Whitt, and Bowman all have potential and yet they're stuck in bottom tier rides, and then you have prospects who are stuck in the lower series like Wallace, Buescher, Chastain, Jones, Sieg, Suarez, and so on with seemingly no where to go within the next few years. It's kind of sad to think but a lot of talent may end up going to waste because of how crowded these series are getting. 225. epzik8 posted: 08.01.2015 - 11:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Couldn't care less what happened tonight... 226. Dale has said he wants to run for his own team in the Xfinity series to end his career. I can really see him stop running Cup full time when his current contract at HMS is up (which I believe is after the 2017 season) to go run for JRM. Newman is the other one I've heard rumors that he might hang it up sooner than expected. It really sounds like he's getting tired of NASCAR well being NASCAR especially with product that they currently have at the plate tracks. I really get the feeling from him that now that he has a family the dangers of racing isn't worth it and he might retire sooner than people think. 230. luigistarted06 posted: 08.02.2015 - 12:01 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, I could see that for both of those drivers too. Second Regan smith i could see getting a shot but not by a top cup team either. Jones will take over for hamlin Blaney should get a 3rd car for penske. Suarez has Arris in his back pocket but he wont get a cup job with JGR unless Kenseth retires. Brian Scott has a sponsor so he can take that anywhere. Cassill hopefully will be stewarts replacement Allgaier could get with a RPM Whitt idk he's in waiting mode. Same with Moffit and Bowman. Dibendento could make a slight move to a little better team. Brandon Jones is no where ready for this topic but he has Rheem as his backing. Ben Rhodes has alpha energy as his backing he'll be fine. He retires from full-time racing after the 2018 season, but keeps racing part time in a third JRM cup car for the next several seasons. - Tony Stewart goes out the Darrell Waltrip way, not retiring until after the 2020 season. His final cup series win is the July Daytona race in 2016 and he doesn't finish in the top 25 in points the last four years. - Kyle Larson's career ends up more or less like Kasey Kahne's. Like Kahne, he goes to Hendrick (after Johnson retires in 2021) and is considered the underachiever of the group, but he still has an above average career. - Ryan Newman is involved in a horrific crash on the last lap at Talladega in 2017 and retires at the end of the season. - Denny Hamlin's multiple injuries that he has sustained over the years cause him to have an early retirement, as he leaves Gibbs at the end of 2016 in favor of Erik Jones and then retires from NASCAR three years later after three uneventful years at MWR/CGR/whatever happens to that team. - Landon Cassill gets a chance with a top tier team when he replaces the underachieving Danica Patrick at SHR in 2016. (okay, that one was very optimistic). - The following drivers become busts: Ben Rhodes Brandon Jones Chris Buescher Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. (he kinda already is) Ty Dillon (his brother will be better than him) Tyler Reddick Ryan Reed (duh) Dakoda Armstrong (see: Ryan Reed) Brennan Poole Austin Theriault 241. 23andJoe posted: 08.02.2015 - 4:24 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) >So Penske enters two cars for two cup drivers, but he couldn't run Blaney in a second car for any races? Logano has a brand name that can sell things right now, and Ryan Blaney doesn't yet; it really is just as simple as that. Until the economy ACTUALLY improves, companies will not be throwing money at "potential". Remember that in 2011, I think it was? One of which at one point was rumored to have been Furniture Row.
