I was going to set it at about 8 laps for the NXS regulars but I couldn't determine whether I was being ridiculously pessimistic... or ridiculously optimistic. 6. Some should still have 2 dates (Daytona, Bristol, Richmond, Charlotte, etc.) Some like Dover, Texas or Kansas can have 2 dates, but not every year. One or two more road courses to be added. - Drivers pick a series where they earn points. If they were in the top 15 last year, then they can enter a maximum of 5 races BETWEEN ANY lower division. I mean top Xfinity regulars can not enter more than 5 truck races, top truck regulars can't enter more than 5 KNPS races. (Not like this latter part is a big problem, but be CONSISTENT, unlike the current leadership.) - Have the actual points championship decided by conventional means AND have a Chase-like playoff system for a secondary cup. The system could be like the current Chase or like an NHRA Finals. So the last ten races and the first two sees P32 against P1 in points and the one with more points from the next two races advance to the next round, eliminating the other guy from the "Chase" and so on. 80. They are taking away from the up and coming drivers. 227. BMan0213 posted: 08.22.2015 - 12:24 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) @226 No... No they are not taking away rides from young drivers... They are in those rides because the sponsors want them to. If the Cup guys didn't race the sponsors would not go sponsor the younger drivers, they would either just sponsor the Cup guys in the Cup series or they would leave the sport all together. 228. Trevor winning was amazing, but still, cuppers have been in this series since it started. Plus, if the cup guys weren't here, the fields would NEVER be full. Plus, the series would have guys like Kenny Habul. 229. Big Mac Fan posted: 08.22.2015 - 1:18 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "the fields would NEVER be full" No, there would be more rookies and young drivers in the car trying to get a chance. If there was no cup guys, guys like Erik Darnell, Matt DiBenedetto, Colin Braun, Brad Coleman, Stephen Leicht, Drew Herring, James Buescher, etc. would be competing for their shot at the big time. 230. Jack posted: 08.22.2015 - 1:25 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @229 A lot of them wouldn't I bet, especially Colin Braun since he's a sports car guy. DiBenedetto is focused on cup. Herring is definitely a great option tho. 231. IMO, it would go something like this: 40 Races per year to any Cup Series veteran 50 Races per year to a Cup Series rookie or second year full-time driver 50 Races per year to any driver running a part-time (20> races) schedule Unlimited races to any driver not running for Cup series points So guys like Travis Kvapil, who runs an occasional Sprint Cup race, can still drive full time in Trucks Guys like Ryan Blaney can run any series an unlimited amount of times And pieces of trash like Kyle Busch can only grab 5 lower series wins per season! 232. MAR posted: 08.22.2015 - 2:05 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Okay my solution to fixing the xfinity series problems with cup drivers 1. Veteran cup drivers could run up to 20 races but a cup driver couldn't compete for their cup owner example if Brad or Kyle wanted to race there would have to drive there own equipment. And other veteran cup drivers with 2+ years in cup would have to drive for xfinity series owners only. 2. Cup rookies have unlimited races in trucks or xfinity series competition for experience reasons only. 3. Cup drivers have no guarantee starting spots in xfinity or truck races. If a cup driver is a past champion in either series they get one past champion provisional. 4. Cup drivers would start all lower series races in the back behind series regulars. As for Fields not being full I highly doubt it if my rules we're in place you would see a gang of new teams in the xfinity series new owners wouldn't be scared to compete against young development drivers even if there driving for cup owners I think teams like Red Horse racing, thorosport racing, NTS motor sports, Venturini motor sports, KBM, BKR etc would all gladly join the series. Which would make competition stronger also new owners would sprout in the truck series as well. 234. Number of races Rookie Season: Unlimited 2nd: 30 3rd: 20 4th: 15 5th: 10 6th: 8 7th: 5 8th: 4 9th: 3 10th: 2 11th or more: 1 235. I mean back in the 90's and very early 2000's we saw guys like Dale Jr, Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Greg Biffle, and Martin Truex Jr win races over the Cup guys all the time. I've always felt having the Cup guys race down there was good because it showed what younger guys might actually be something. Who knows maybe the real problem isn't the Cup guys "taking wins" away. Maybe just maybe these younger kids just aren't as good as people make them out to be, and that's why they're not winning. 236. Big Mac Fan posted: 08.22.2015 - 2:43 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Like how Harvick and Kahne race for JRM" Let's be honest. JRM is Hendrick Motorsports 3.0. Even with a different name, it is still the same team. I personally think cup guys are good for the series but I don't like it when their consistent winning gets out of hand. For example, in 2013 only 4 nationwide regulars won, and all of them had prior cup experience. It's good to see how the young guys compare to the big leagues, but not when they steal rides and consistently dominate the series. 237. Fair enough, but as I said before if you just banned the Cup teams they would just move to a model similar to this. "It's good to see how the young guys compare to the big leagues, but not when they steal rides and consistently dominate the series." Again tho, they aren't steeling rides. If the cup guys weren't in those cars, those cars wouldn't be running in the series. While it sucks someone like Ryan Blaney can't get a full time ride in the Xfinity series, the truth is if Brad and Joey weren't in the 22 car there probably wouldn't be a 22 car for them to share with Ryan. 238. Schroeder51 posted: 08.22.2015 - 2:59 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) ^Exactly. It's REALLY become a problem when the sponsors and owners decide they want Cup guys in the cars over young drivers trying to get experience. (Although there are some-like Kyle Busch, obviously-who would drive in these series anyways because they can't get enough of winning in them, I can guarantee you that if not for sponsor and owner demands there are some drivers who would probably virtually never drive in the lower series at all. Hamlin comes to mind right away...) Touching upon what Bman2013 brought up, it just really bugs me how these days, to succeed in this sport, it seems like you either A. Have to already have connections or B. Come with a guaranteed sponsor. Otherwise, it seems like you are practically doomed to a career of driving garbage equipment...or are destined to be booted out of the sport. There are talented drivers sitting on the sidelines already guaranteed to never make it in NASCAR while Cup drivers get all the great equipment, and other rides they could potentially fill are taken up by mediocre talents who happen to have money/sponsorship. I mean, look at guys like Ryan Reed and Dakoda Armstrong, I KNOW there are kids out there who could do much better than them in that equipment if given the chance, but they will NEVER get one because they don't have money or sponsorship. As I said before...It is what it is, and you just have to live with it, but it is more than a little...Depressing that money often trumps talent in the sport these days. 239. Schroeder51 posted: 08.22.2015 - 3:04 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Though I will say I do appreciate what guys like Kyle Busch are trying to do in actively scouting out for new talent. Where would a guy like Erik Jones be if he hadn't caught Kyle Busch's attention? Probably still racing on short tracks somewhere without a hope in hell of making it into the upper ranks of NASCAR...Even if I may criticize him for his constant dipping into the lower series, I can at least give him that! 240. That's pretty much how I've always felt about Cup drivers running Xfinity/Nationwide/Busch races and I still think they should be allowed to race. As some other people have mentioned, obviously fans show up in bigger numbers when Cup drivers are running, and without these cup drivers and sponsors, more than likely these teams would not be competing in the series and there would be less entries. And I honestly do think that a lot of the current Xfinity drivers are just not as good as the cup drivers...Since when has Regan Smith and Elliott Sadler proved they are better than Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski on a consistent basis? Not to mention the money seats enjoyed by Ryan Reed and Dakota Armstrong. Any time I think of Ryan Reed I just roll my eyes *rolls eyes.* He has millions poured into his car and he is running the same stuff Chris Buescher and Darrell Wallace Jr. can be found much higher up in. And where was all this Cup invader anger 10 years ago? I just think we are all experiencing Kyle Busch fatigue...I don't prefer to see him running and winning, and running and winning...and being all snobby about it but right now that's just the way things are. 242.
