This is the first win of his title defense 2015 season. Elliott's title hopes stay alive with the win, he's up to second in points. Brian Scott's 200th Busch start nets him a podium finish in 3rd. 139. 88&4Fan posted: 09.11.2015 - 9:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) And Scott finished third! 140. In fact, may I dare say it was THE best Xfinity race of the year. There were cup drivers racing yet they didn't dominate. There wasn't one dominant driver. There were several phases of the race, the first one where Busch and Logano were the fastest, then Scott and Berry were the fastest, then at the end Chase Elliott was the fastest. There was actually a decent amount of passing up front and lots of "comers and goers". We need more races like this. 149. Well that's usually how these races go. Assuming Ryan Blaney and Erik Jones are in the #22 and #54 at Kentucky, this might be the last race of the season that a car besides one of those two wins. 150. I SWEAR it seems like every Xfinity race I skip is a good one (IE, exciting, actually won by a series regular) while almost every race I actually watch is dull and/or a blowout by the Cup guys (again, I refuse to say "Cuppie" due to how childish that term sounds to me; I can't believe this term has actually caught on). He was gifted a great finishing spot with that pit light fiasco. He stole a win from Chase (the better car) at the first Iowa race. Then you look at Chase's first Daytona and Talladega finishes. If he gets a top 10 in both of those, wins Iowa, and that pit light fiasco doesn't happen Chase is leading the points. Buscher was in trouble heading into the road course stretch. He was struggling. He still has some not-so-great race tracks coming up. I actually think Dillon and Chase have been more consistent on Ovals for the most part. That last five race stretch could be killer for Buscher. Nothing against Chris but I think this will be decided between Dillon and Chase as long as neither has a DNF. 154. Big Mac Fan posted: 09.12.2015 - 12:38 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I understand. Roush's Cup program might suck but their Xfinity program has been on point and hasn't experienced the drop off their Cup program has over the last few year. Also, as the post before you said Buescher hasn't really been all the impressive this year. His win at Iowa only happened because two lap cars wrecked half a lap before Chase took the white flag, and his win at Dover was on fuel mileage plus he wrecked his teammate for the lead. If Chase has Iowa go his way and doesn't get wrecked at two of the three plate races he's probably in the points lead by 30 points or so. In all honesty with all the problems Chase has had this year the fact he's only 21 points behind Buescher show how good his season has really been. 156. Chris Buescher- 2 wins, 11 top 5's 15 top 10's, 263 laps led Avg. finish 8.3 Chase Elliott- 1 win, 10 top 5's 20 top 10's 236 laps led Avg. finish 9.2 Sure Buescher is lacking in top 10's, but he wins in every other category. I also view top 5's as more important since it is so easy to get a top-10 in this series. Let's also remember that Regan Smith is also in the title battle in 4th. Let's also remember that Roush is far behind, with Elliott Sadler and Darrell Wallace several points back out of contention. 159. Vince posted: 09.12.2015 - 12:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) But the reason he is actually leading on these stats is because he had luck on his side all season long. Just an example, if the yellow flag didn't come out with one and a half lap to go at Iowa, it would be 2 wins for Chase and 1 for Chris... Obviously every driver has some races with good breaks and some with bad breaks, but it evens out over the course of a season for most drivers. It hasn't been the case at all for Chris - Never had a mechanical issue - Never got caught up in a wreck (at least not one causing significant damages) - Caught a lot of good breaks with cautions when he was close to getting one lap down (happened again yesterday) or when he was in the lucky dog position, on races when he had anonymous runs (between 10th and 15th). The only "bad luck" he had was running out of fuel at Bristol, and he still ended up 11th, nothing comparable to Chase's 28th position finish at Daytona, 37th at Dega, 24th at Darlington... Like someone already stated before, the fact that Chase is only 21 points behind, and less than one position behind on average-finish despite the issues he had, just shows how much better he has been running overall. With equivalent luck, Buescher would probably be close to 50 points behind. Don't get me wrong, he is having a great year, better that a lot (me included) would have expected. One thing that really impressed me, he often managed to get a better finish position that where he ran most of the race. But overall it is not a championship-winning caliber season. A 60% Top 10 rate is just too low (since NASCAR banned Cup drivers from running for Xfinity title, 3 of the 4 championships have been won with over 75% of Top 10 results). And since his 2 early wins (where luck obviously played a part), Buescher only finished best Xfinity driver once (Watkins Glen). Blaney (with a limited schedule), Smith and even Suarez have actually more Xfinity drivers "wins" than him. If not for luck, that would be the season worthy of a Top 5 in standings, maybe Top 3 but nothing more. 161. BMan0213 posted: 09.12.2015 - 2:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Not quite. Regan is ahead of both of them because at this point in his career, he is a better driver than them. Both Wallace and Sadler's results have more to do with where they are at in their careers than the equipment they are in. If anything Roush has had better equipment than JRM this year. That team had been off since Harvick won at Auto Club until Smith won at Mid-Ohio. up until that point this year was shaping up as somewhat of a disappointment for them. 162. 23andJoe posted: 09.12.2015 - 5:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kyle Busch led laps 52-53; lap 53 currently isn't on the laps-led chart. 163.
