Having so many identical races in Cup and a series with no identity in the Xfinity Series, the only way to fix these problems is change. Make Sprint Cup exciting and interesting again by 1. Get rid of this terrible Chase 2. Change up the horribly stagnant schedule. In xfinity, there's no Championship if all the races are being decided by cup drivers. Give them standalone races and force cup drivers out of the cars, and you'd have a lot more unique blend of competition reminiscent of pre-2005 Busch series or ARCA/Truck races. Fans like seeing the unknown drivers have chances to be competitive, not take a backseat to Sprint Cup superstars every single week. You guys are clearly just jealous of his AMAZING talent and wish you could win as much as he does. Haters gonna hate, race to win, baby! GO KYLE! ...You know what's sad? There are probably some Kyle fanboys out there who will defend him making a mockery of lower series races with something almost EXACTLY identical to what I said! Gotta love the "UR JUST JEALOUS LAWL" argument... I did watch some of this race, and it was a Cup driver-fest as I was expecting it to be. What more can you say? Yeah, as BMan said, there was some good racing at the end, but it's DAMNED hard to get excited about when it's between two people who are likely gonna battle for the win on Sunday (well, this is Kyle's worst track in the Cup series statistically, but we'll see how tomorrow goes). And the sad thing is that most fans actually want to see their favorites out there and won't attend if they're not in the field (hence why standalone races never come close to filling up the series)...which is all the more reason to fully anticipate the Xfinity schedule eventually being EXACTLY identical to the Cup schedule... 72. I know that NASCAR believes the stands will be empty if Gibbs doesn't send 2 of his Cup cars to the Xfinity race every damn week, but could it be that since the "racing" is so lousy so often, that the standalone events suffer from a lack of interest as well? Not that Iowa should be forced to sell out to justify having an Xfinity race; nobody else sells out either, or even comes close. 74. 88&4Fan posted: 10.17.2015 - 7:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Schroeder you would certainly be right about that. I'd love it if the Xfinity Series went back to tracks like Hickory or Myrtle Beach but why would they go to a place that might not even hold 10,000 people when you can easily get 30,000 at Kansas. It's pretty sad when you've seen enough fanboy comments to the point where you can actually post something that would sound rather plausible coming from the mind of such a person, isn't it? But yeah, I think that's part of the problem. It would be nice to see the series return to the short tracks of South Boston, Myrtle Beach, Nashville, and Hickory, or perhaps visit other great short tracks throughout the country such as Greenville-Pickens, Langley, Winchester, Salem, Toledo, etc. but I know it's not gonna happen because those tracks simply do not have the capacity for fans that the dull cookie-cutter tracks the Cup series runs on do. He needs to focus more on making sure his 10000000 kids have a father to grow up knowing than finishing 30th every week. As for Starr, Conley, and Koch, keep at least one of those three, maybe two. Here is a lineup that I would love to see them have: #8 - Blake Koch #14 - Parker Kligerman #19 - Mike Bliss #24 - Cale Conley, David Starr, or Ryan Ellis #44 - Ross Chastain And OMG that Michigan and Mich St. finish! 84. Cole Whitt and Mike Bliss are both underrated drivers who could always get a good run and finish top 20. But both are gone, and now they have Blake Koch who is more or less average to below average, Eric McClure who moves at a snail's pace (although I do give Eric credit for helping out the team with the Hefty sponsorship), Jeff Green, who runs about 3 laps, and Conley, who has little experience and finds the wall and should be driving in ARCA. Hire good drivers, get good results. Lose those drivers, and your team is terrible. That's how Tri-Star went from an up and coming team to a team that has a least one caution per week. 96. Here are a few examples: TriStar Motorsports Tommy Baldwin Racing BK Racing JGL Racing Front Row Motorsports and the big one... Turner Motorsports/ Turner Scott Motorsports At least three of these teams (TriStar, BK, and JGL) have declined or failed to improve because of poor driver choices, especially BK which went from running consistently in the top 30 with Cassill, Kvapil, and Reutty to struggling to run in the top 35 with Yeley and two rookies. JGL also regressed from having two full time teams last year to one full time team this year and one S&P team for seemingly no reason. And then you have the other teams, Front Row which is struggling since they are a Roush satellite team, TBR because they are running low on sponsorship (although just as recently as last year were doing great considering their equipment) and of course Turner/TSM which was screwed over from the inside. 99. BK Racing can't use the Red Bull equipment due to NASCAR going to a gen 6 car in 2013. That didn't help matters for BK racing due to cost. The constant rule changes that NASCAR has been doing since 2013 for rule packages isn't helping matters for BK racing either such as the 3 different rule packages used this season for cup races. 100. typo posted: 10.18.2015 - 12:03 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yawn. Another typical Bush-wacker race. Only notable thing is Ryan Sieg bringing it home 8th! Can someone please give this kid a good ride? I won't be jumped to the conclusion of wins, but he would get great finishes each race. Meanwhile Dakoda Armstrong is talent-less and has a decent ride WTF? 101. It sucks and is hard to find entertaining when all you see is cup drivers getting pointless wins that doesn't matter. I HATE this racing series 104. Cynical Guy posted: 10.18.2015 - 11:49 am Rate this comment: (1) (1) Motorsports fans. God I hate them... In F1, if Mercedes win then the race is automatically assumed to be boring. In the NXS, if a Cup driver wins then the race is assumed to be boring. I know the comparison is weak between the series but the fact you lot all jump to these conclusions just from reading the results is frankly BS, go and watch the race and decide if it was good. 105. Anonymous posted: 10.18.2015 - 12:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Can't speak for F1 but as far as yesterday's snoozer in K.C. and nearly every other such race this season, if you look at the comments posted here DURING the race you will see that some people actually are watching and not merely deciding how boring the races were (which they were) after the fact. Although that can be fairly easily discerned even without watching -- check the finishing order, the number of lead changes, how often a non-Cup driver leads under green (almost never), the loop data stats posted on this site to show how dominant the undesirable drivers were, etc. Of course not very many people are watching or commenting, as TV ratings continue to crash through the floor. Could it be that the much maligned "motorsports fans" are looking for some good honest *competition* -- and not a couple of over-privileged Cup drivers waging a tickle fight for yet another pointless win over a bunch of overmatched drivers? 106. Big Mac Fan posted: 10.18.2015 - 12:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @Cynical Guy I don't watch much F1 so I can't make a call on that, but we all do watch these races, check the comment sections and we are commenting while the race happens (I had work today, so I couldn't tonight). And since we do watch these races, and if you notice there is a lot more comments on the standalone races, and that means that there is at least a higher interest in the races there. Like 105 said, the loop stats, lead changes, finishing order, and even the ratings all show that NXS races with cup drivers are statistically more boring. And we don't hate the races because of "dominance." Usually in a cup race I would be impressed with dominance because there is more than one team that has a chance to win each week. But the cup drivers are on elite teams with huge amounts of experience so as a result there is almost no competition for them, like tonight, where JGR cup drivers proceeded to lead 100% of the laps. I would always give credit to an exciting race, regardless of who won. But this was not one of them. 107. Cynical Guy posted: 10.18.2015 - 5:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'm just being angry and making a legitimate point. However in F1's case, the nature of the series means there will have to be a balance between competition on track and the innovation and potential monopoly one or two teams have the others for the sake of ingenuity. To be fair that applies to all multi-make formula. And I don't have problems with the Cup guys running in the NXS. The points still go to the regulars, watch that race. And whilst you'd expect the Cuo guys to win because they race in a higher ter, and therefore should be better (should...) it can be funny when they lose... 108. Big Mac Fan posted: 10.18.2015 - 5:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) On my comments page on Kyle Busch, I said I was fine with him running in NXS, I just don't like when they run almost the full schedule. If they ran 15 or less races I don't think people would mind buschwhackers. And yes it is funny when they lose to a regular. 109. Furthermore if you took all sponsor money and winnings of all 5 of Tri-Star cars and put it together you might have about 75% of what the top teams get for one car. Not to mention 7 post time, wind tunnel time, full manufacturer support, in car telemetry, and full tire allotments each week, and cup pit crews. Of course then you would want to hire the biggest Cup name you could get in the car to keep the sponsorship. Then you would be right back to having a top team running up frontand you all would be bashing the team and the "Bushwacker" driver. It takes money to run up front in this series, big money. So make up your minds either pull for the small, low budget , old engines, old chassis, and 3 sets is tires a week teams, or the high dollar "all you want of anything imagineable" teams. That is what this series is made of and it is not going to change. 111. Big Mac Fan posted: 10.19.2015 - 11:31 pm Rate this comment: (4) (0) I'm fine with buschwhacking, as long as it's not excessive, but I think there should be a rule that if you are running for cup points, that you cannot race for a cup team. In the 90's except for Mark Martin, most buschwhackers were owner drivers like Joe Nemechek, Dale Earnhardt, Bobby Labonte, Dale Jarrett, Jeff Gordon, etc. I think giving those drivers a slight equipment disadvantage helps the sport in tremendous ways. Top rides are now open for developmental drivers, the cup drivers won't take over the series, and the mix of regulars and cup guys would make it interesting. That is my solution in this series. 113. MAR posted: 10.19.2015 - 11:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I agree with big Mac fan on buschwacking How to fix this series 1. Eliminate cup drivers from racing for cup owners and limiting the amount of races a driver can run if your top 30 in cup driver points your limited to a max of 15 companion races. 2. Cup drivers have to race for there Own teams or race for a xfinity owner. 3. Input a salary cap to level out the playing field between full time cup owners and xfinity only owners limit the amount cup owners could spend annually on a xfinity team. 4. Expand the schedule by dropping one race at tracks like Dover, Texas, and adding gateway and a track voted on by fans. 5. Expand the grid back to 43. I never liked the 40 car field 6. Raise the purse for xfinity series teams only 7. Lock in 36 xfinity teams and drivers that are not cup drivers. So mainly only cup guys Dnq 8. Cup drivers start every race behind xfinity regulars How do you think that would work? Feedback welcomed 114. Big Mac Fan posted: 10.20.2015 - 12:09 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 1. I agree 2. I agree 3. Maybe. But if cup drivers aren't on the cup teams a small salary cap could be useful, but it isn't entirely necessary. 4. I agree. Keep all the current tracks, but drop one of two dates to go back to some of the classic tracks they used to race on for the perfect variety. 5. They made the field down to 40 to reduce S&P. But they should bring it back to 43. 6. The Xfinity teams should get a slight bonus, but if there are too many restrictions on cup teams then they won't want to compete. 7. Nah. I say the fastest 43 make the race. 8. I disagree on this one mainly because it makes too many restrictions. 115. The first part wouldn't have much of an effect. JGR's assets would just be transferred to KBM, Penske's assets would be transferred to BKR, and the other owners who don't already have "satellite" teams would just create satellite teams (in someone else's name, but everyone knows what's going on). 116. RFG posted: 10.21.2015 - 12:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 116, he could get there, with a bit of help. If Chris Buescher had a bad day and Chase was top-10, he'd be right up there (within single digits of the lead), if Chris's day was bad enough, 25th say. If Chase was 8th with a point for leading or 7th or better, with or without leading any laps and Chris was 25th without ever leading, Chase would gain enough points to be no more than 9 points back. I won't wish that (doing that goes over like a lead balloon, here it seems), but it looks like that's what it would take for anyone else in the top-4 to catch Chris, him having a worse day than he's had all year. All four still have a fighting chance, as 36 points is 118. RFG posted: 10.21.2015 - 3:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I guess the "less than" sign is a bad character.
