He'll start 6th in his heat, hopefully a top 5 is not out of question. Mario Gosselin is the last driver I'd expect in the top 20, so great run from him too, congrats. DiBenedetto and Wise again show that they can do very good, just they don't have the equipment. 23rd-24th positions in S&P cars. With the #52, it's a commendable performance to qualify out of the provisional positions, so good job from Gase as well. 8. racer77 posted: 04.16.2016 - 11:36 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) can someone answer a few questions about the heat races for me? if you lose laps in the heat race will nascar start the main down that many laps? will they start the main on the same tires from the heat race? in all honesty if im trying to win the main i might start in park to keep laps off my tires 9. Would it not be like DNQing for any other race? I wonder if that's why entry list are only meeting the 40 car limit. Sponsors are to afraid of missing the race. 10. I mean, Harmon, Obaika, Cope and Ware are barely using tires and getting to the end of races as it is. If you're Mike Harmon, parking in the heat and saving 45 laps on your tires goes a long way. So, I say 4 cars quietly park in each heat race today. And I am serious. 11. (Matter of fact, I actually saw my grandmother in her final hours it was not pretty). It is absolutely horrible to see someone you love and care for basically waste away to a mere shell of what they once were. In all honesty, I would definitely take a quick, instant death with no suffering over a long, agonizing, painful death over a course of weeks and months that diseases like cancer can often lead to... So I certainly can't blame Erik Jones for being very emotional after winning considering what is happening to his Dad. If it were my Dad, I would probably feel much the same way... 151. Jolly Mean Giant posted: 04.16.2016 - 10:43 pm Rate this comment: (2) (1) Might as well mention I did watch some of the race (last half or so) as I was off from work today; I didn't really feel like commenting at the time, to be honest. First things first...While I do admit this new heat race format is interesting, it's going to take a little while to get used to seeing it in this series for tracks like Bristol. I know this is how they do things for local short tracks and all; it's just going to take some getting used to, is all. Second of all...Say what you will, but Kyle Larson is CERTAINLY rather daring out there on the track. Some of the moves he was making through traffic with Kyle Busch right on his back bumper were VERY ballsy and I couldn't believe he was actually pulling them off. It was definitely eye-opening seeing him cut through gaps in lapped cars the moment a hole opened up between them and make it work. While I'm not exactly...thrilled to see Cup drivers dueling it out for the top spot in the Xfinity Series, the racing between him and Busch was pretty intense in the final stages. Makes me think we could be in for something amazing tomorrow in the Cup race, what with the new aero package and all... I can't really fault Larson for feeling upset after losing the race (I think he would've held Busch off in the final stages without the last caution, barring him and Busch wrecking each other-which considering how hard they were driving before the last caution, could've happened). He gave that one away on the restart by leaving the top side open for Jones to use, and he himself said that in his post-race interview. But Kyle Busch...sheesh. I thought that maybe he'd be happy that his protege-the kid who he hired because he was so impressed that he could beat him head-to-head in late model races-won the race. I should've realized this is Kyle Busch we're talking about. It's...AMAZING how much more mature and intelligent he's become in handling Cup races since his injury, yet he is STILL pouting whenever he comes up short in a lower-series race. It's as if Kyle takes it as a personal insult when people actually race him in those races rather than just moving over for him and letting him win flag-to-flag. Every time I get CLOSE to liking the guy...he does something like this... Finally we have a series regular win a race...something I admit I didn't think was going to happen this week. I know a few years ago when Jones won his first Truck race I (rather hastily) predicted he could be a future Cup champion, but now...I'm going to stand by that prediction. It is hard to shake the feeling that we ARE watching somebody who is going to be a Cup champion at some point in the future. The kid already has a Truck title and just became the first driver to clinch a spot in the Xfinity Series chase...I think we could be looking at the first driver to win a title in all 3 of NASCAR's top series. Say what you will about Kyle Busch as a driver and a person (I and others have said plenty!), but Erik Jones was DEFINITELY one hell of a find. 152. The caution came out with 11 to go with Larson as the leader and didn't go back green until they were completing lap 197. I watched the replay and noticed Busch (running 2nd) beat Larson to the line under yellow (the field was 2 by 2) on those laps. But is he actually scored as the leader of those laps. Like I said it means nothing here but it seems like a cheap way to lead laps and potentially steal a bonus point under a different situation. I was curious whether Larson should've been scored as the leader for those laps or if Busch indeed was scored as the laser despite running 2nd under caution. If Busch was scored as the leader, that's a rule I never knew existed and it sure seems odd. 167. I agree with #168 who said it probably was a glitch with electronic scoring. But the humans need to catch that when things are made official. Obviously it has little impact here in this example but in an era where championships come down to a point or two, you have to look at everything. Can u imagine if this was 2011 and this was a chase race and those few laps led under yellow when actually second gave Carl Edwards an extra bonus point he didn't deserve. It would've gave him the title over Stewart. Obviously it's a long shot a lap or two credited as leading when actually not would ever have that big of an impact on a points title......but strange things often happen. May be something to remember for guys like Suarez or jones etc on those days when Busch is leading all the laps. Just pull ahead a little when running 2 by 2 under yellow and get to the line first and apparently you can be a lap leader despite being 2nd and running under yellow. Hahaha 174.
