I can tolerate Cup Series drivers that rarely run in XFINITY, like a Dale Jr or a Paul Menard, or full-time Cup drivers going for XFINITY points, like Landon Cassill and JJ Yeley last year. I just don't like full-time Cup drivers taking quality rides from people who deserve it, running 90% of the races, and then winning 95% of the races they run. 79. that e-guy posted: 04.23.2016 - 3:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Matt Tifft finished 33rd. Couple other points....junior runs his own equipment in the series. Kyle is basically driving for his cup team with a cup crew. If you don't think that matters check out 2012 when Kyle did run his own equipment and see how many wins he had that season. Also, people are gonna give junior a little more slack. That comes with being gracious about the victory and not acting like a five year old who had his candy taken away when finishing 2nd. Pretty big difference between Kyle Busch in the xfinity series and dale jr. 87. S32 posted: 04.23.2016 - 4:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @79- I worry about that too. ChaseTheCup posted: 04.23.2016 - 4:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (3) I still say the best way to handle this "issue" of Cup regulars running lower series should be: -Former Cup Champions are limited to a maximum of five starts in lower series (i.e. Kyle Busch, Harvick, Keselowski, etc. can run up to 5 Xfinity races AND up to 5 Truck races); -Full-time Cup drivers (classified as anyone who is declared eligible for Cup points) can run a maximum of 40% of the races in a lower series. That would mean (with 33 current Xfinity races), a non-cup Champion can run up to 13 races. I completely understand Cup guys driving in Xfinity (exactly like Jr. today because Hellman's sponsors his car and owes them one race each year or a guy like Austin Dillon who clearly has improved on the Cup side in part because of more Xfinity seat time), but if you are a Cup champion, you are the "best of the best" drivers in the world, and there is much less benefit in driving lower levels. Look at Jimmie Johnson, who has run two Xfinity races since 2009. 92. However, not being able to use Rowdy, Kenseth, Hamlin, Joey, Brad, Dale, or Harvick at homestead will make it pretty difficult for any of those teams to win it. Of course, Austin Dillon and Larson will likely still run (and win) the race, unless they make the current year chase." Yeah I don't watch the Xfinity races because of FS1 and I got the 16 man chase mixed up with the Cup, but you're right. If the teams really want to abuse this system, put Kyle in the other cars and Jones in 18 for a race and get all three/four/however many cars they have in Xfinity these days and make the Chase. Hope the owner's don't figure this out haha. 112.
