Erik Jones is still on pace for the greatest average starting position in series history. 3. If xfinity wanted a race close to their hometown why didn't they sponsor the race??? 4. Tracks like Pocano and Indy are horrible for this series the time charts show that this race and Indy will be the two most boring on the schedule idk why nascar keeps sucking the life out of the small teams and this series go back to the stand alone races that we had in the 90's early 00's. 5. Only Busch and Jones have a shot everyone else is racing for 3rd not good for the sport. 6. John posted: 06.04.2016 - 11:20 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) That's nice of you to give Jones a shot. I don't even like to watch Xfinity races when there are so many Cup drivers in the event. It ruins it for me. 7. Ryan posted: 06.04.2016 - 11:27 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The series would go back to smaller standalone races if it were profitable to do so. The tracks nor the teams make enough money at an IRP or South Boston or Memphis to justify the high cost of hosting a race there in front of 30k fans, if that. I hate it as much as yall do, but you need to accept that it's probably never coming back. If they did go back to standalone short track dates, you'd probably see a ton of start and parks, like there always were at Milwaukee or Gateway or Nazareth or Pikes Peak. And there would be tons of complaining about that. Gotta pick a side there, it's not exactly a win-win situation. It is a shame, since the racing product was always much better at the short tracks than say Indy or Pocono, but it is what it is now. 8. Brad R. posted: 06.04.2016 - 11:29 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) What happened to Darrell Wallace Jr. in qualifying? 9. Ryan posted: 06.04.2016 - 11:30 am Rate this comment: (2) (4) Oh, and for people who complain about Cup guys "ruining" the races: if there weren't Cup drivers in the field, we'd see field sizes of around 30 cars, and nobody wants that. On top of that, the only reason that some of the teams can get a development driver into the car, for example Tifft in the 18 or last year Blaney in the 22, is because the Cup driver (Kyle Busch or Keselowski in this example) runs a certain amount of races with the sponsor. Brad Keselowski has said before that Discount Tire required him or Logano to run xx amount of races in the 22 and then Blaney could run the rest, otherwise they'd risk losing their sponsor. 10. First off, there probably won't be more than 20,000 people at the Xfinity race today, if that. In addition, the series and tracks get most of their own money now thanks to the tv contracts/money. At least a short track/standalone race at a smaller facility has a better chance of selling out, and with all the tv money going around nascar these days, those tracks would benefit. My opinion, I just don't think NASCAR cares about what the fans think. If they can "try" to seat more at a track like Pocono, or Indy, then they are going to keep going there. Although as Ultimate Warrior #18 has already shown us, the field here is so spread out, NASCAR will probably have to throw phantom/mercy cautions every 20-25 laps so they can keep 12-15 drivers on the lead lap. NASCAR could have at least just made this an 80 lap/200 mile race... 14. Like Indy, it's big enough to be a plate track, but is built in a way they don't need plates. I think Indy's too flat to have that speed and Pocono is too unusual a shape to have it. If Indy and Pocono had the banking of Daytona (Indy) or more oval (Pocono), they'd have the speed of like Daytona. 28. Nazareth has become overgrown and it's not in operation anymore. Never really was spectacular racing there in my opinion, same with Pikes Peak. Not the greatest tracks on the circuit by any means. Nashville closed down, shame because that was always a fun track. The one race where the top 4 all spun out on the backstretch at the end of the race was memorable, I think Mikey won that one. Mexico City was difficult to get to and the races there were pretty boring by road racing standards. Montreal, Road America, Watkins Glen, Mosport and Mid Ohio are all better road racing tracks than Mexico City. I wish they still raced at Montreal, there was never a dull moment there. 30.
