Kyle Busch winning the pole here at Kansas (His first in the Xfinity series at that), will prevent Erik Jones from breaking Jeff Gordon's Pole Record in a single season back in 1992 (When he won 11 poles then) since the series Modern Era (1982-present). Erik will need to win the poles for the final 3 races (He currently has 8), and doing so he will have to beat Kyle Busch one last time since Kyle will also race at Phoenix in two weeks. I personally don't care since Erik will probably win the Pole Award anyway, but I'd like to see him hit the double digits of 10. 3. There are only like 10 teams that can contend for a win every week. You add that with the excessive number of races run by series regulars and you get the xfinity series. Things that could improve the xfinity series. 1.more standalone races 2.limit the number of races the cup guys can run in the xfinity series (like 2-3 races) 16. Actually, since 2011 when NASCAR banned Cup drivers from running for a Xfinity championship, we never saw (except 2012) that many wins from full-time (9 : Jones 4, Sadler 3, Suarez 2) or part-time (2, Marks and Hornish) Xfinity drivers. I've thought that for awhile now. Scott25 posted: 10.16.2016 - 8:25 am Rate this comment: (1) (1) I agree that's it's the racing that's the problem more than the Cup guys winning. I used to watch pretty much every Nationwide race and now the last few years 50-60% of the races are just snoozefests, I just watch the standalone races, road courses and short tracks. NASCAR has an obvious choice, make at least a little bit of money for themselves and the tracks by keeping it like it is or keep the hardcore fans by having more standalone races and limiting the Cup drivers. I think it's likely that after this year NASCAR will limit the Cup drivers to only one or two starts each in the 7 chase races. They have too big of an effect on the championship. On the other hand trucks were a snoozefest back in the late 00s, but the last few years they've massively improved their on track product, making it like it used to be, so NASCAR is capable of it. I see Suarez winning the championship and either Koch or Reed making the final four. Hopefully the former and not the latter. 69. So the argument that Xfinity fans want to see Cup drivers just isn't right. Because the last two weeks fans could watch their favorite drivers, twice, on the same day, yet no one showed up to the early Dover race, or stayed later for the Charlotte race. And as mentioned earlier, cup drivers aren't the problem. The lack of solid competition throughout the field is. That's why we get "cautions" for water bottles...as in what happened in this race. But I was equally against Carl when he was running all the races. And the reason the Truck racing has gotten better? There are not as many Cup drivers as there used to be in that series. In 2011, 110 races by non-Truck drivers were run in the Truck Series. So far this year, that number is only 49. They won 15 of the 25 races in 2011, but so far in 2016, they've won only 3 of the 18 races. I'm not sure if they are still affiliated with HScott, but if they are that's a possibility. Or Harry Scott could move his team from Cup to Xfinity. I'm sure Annett will be racing something, as he has that sponsorship. He'll probably perform badly in Cup or Xfinity. I know this would never happen, but I'd like to see that team go run ARCA. That series could use an owner like Harry Scott and a driver like Michael Annett who could be there for a while. And having another full-time car with full-time sponsorship doesn't hurt, either. 87. JSPorts posted: 10.19.2016 - 10:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Those both make sense. Obviously, he has a history with RPM, and JRM could field another car. Petty doesn't have sponsorship for his NXS team, and that's why they had to suspend operations partway through this year. JRM always seems to bring in drivers who have sponsorship, as if they can't fund a car themselves. 89. JRM is a bit crowded with 3 full time drivers already, but going to Roush would actually make more sense than going back to RPM. He had the phenomenal 2012 season at RPM, but then the team's performance fell off a cliff afterwards. 90. chevyfan98 posted: 10.19.2016 - 10:27 pm Rate this comment: (1) (1) Is there any indication that Annett won't be back at HScott? I agree, he'd be much better off in Xfinity, but I thought he was supposed to be back in the #46? 91. JSPorts posted: 10.19.2016 - 10:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I don't think there's any indication he will be back at HScott. His contract is up after this season, and his team will not have a charter for next season. HScott could downsize and move the charter over to the 46 team, but I really think they may be shutting down. They still haven't announced anything for 2017. And say what you will, Annett has been downright AWFUL in that 46 car, and has gotten worse from last year to this. 92. What are proper incentives in NXS & Trucks? They've discussed a bye in Cup. With NXS & Trucks, there's one less round so a bye wouldn't make as much sense. Was thinking first pit stall selection in Chase to regular season point leader until eliminated? Pit stops are especially a big deal at Homestead-Miami. 95. And Erik Jones will be a rookie in Cup, I'm sure Joe Gibbs will give him as much races as possible. They may even bring another car just like 18 for Buschwhacking and I would really like to see a 4-car JGR stable again like in 2013. But this time, all the cars would be able win more races. 100.
