MBM is quickly becoming my favorite underfunded team since they have been running some cup races. Wish teams would do this in cup. I guess the charter system makes it to where open teams don't make enough to warrant bringing an extra car. I think that needs to change somehow. Nascar is at its healthiest when as many teams show up as possible even if a few start-and-park. It keeps people working. 14. The out right problem is still marking the small teams and finding a way to provide more help there. Limiting the number of races cup drivers run is a start but the next step in my opinion is to set a fix number of weekends that cup drivers can participate. Meaning take 15 Xfinity races make those races that cup guys can race with the regulars and take 18 races even companion weekends and make those Xfinity only driver races kinda like how the dash for cash is set up. In that way no one loses. 27. Anonymous posted: 07.15.2017 - 2:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well, define "compete" 28. Some people would still hate Kyle Busch's win for his own team in his own equipment like in Trucks, where they have a problem with 4+ starts... See last year's comment section of the early Martinsville race in Trucks. 46. I was surprised as well, but I'm now used to it. But hey, even some Cup races have so little comments... Anyway, this is Kyle Busch's 89th win and 137th win for JGR. One more win and they'll tie Roush-Fenway Racing's record of 138 Xfinity wins. So JGR will be the winningest team in this series really soon. Kyle Busch didn't lead the most laps again, but showed it's not necessary at all. Win is a win no matter what. So he's tied Larson's 3 wins now and can have the most wins in a season again. And there are also some much bigger news - Kyle Busch is going to RETIRE from the Xfinity Series after he gets his 100th win here. No, I'm not kidding... Kyle himself said this to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio host Claire B. Long. In his own words - "Retirement is fast approaching, so I'm looking forward to that. When I get to 100 XFINITY wins, I'm done with XFINITY. So my retirement with XFINITY is fast approaching.' However, if Gibbs asks Kyle to do some starts, he'll nod at it. 'I'll do it on occasion for Joe (Gibbs) if he asks me as a favor because he wants to assess where his team's at, but other than that I'm done.' In other words, he'll do the same just like Jeff Gordon and his occasional Cup starts. 50. StickguyMB posted: 07.16.2017 - 12:01 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Wow I cant believe it. Mannoroth posted: 07.16.2017 - 7:09 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 52. He won't retire completely. He will be like Jeff Gordon - whenever the boss asks him for a favor, he'll race. Otherwise not at all. I would say 99 % retirement. In Trucks, there's a different situation - Joe Gibbs Racing is on higher level than Kyle Busch Motorsports. Plus, Kyle doesn't have that much money to run an ELITE team both in Cup and in Xfinity. That's why he has to go to Trucks from time to time for some starts due to sponsors. They won't offer that much money for some not much known rookie, who doesn't have to be a good driver. But Kyle Busch is the guarantee of success and the source of money as well. I really doubt Kyle could afford 3 full-time Truck teams with elite equipment plus one extra part-time Truck, that has elite equipment as well without his occasional starts. So I don't see his retirement in Trucks - maybe he'll reduce his schedule after he surpasses Hornaday, but he doesn't have to do it. When he surpassed Mark Martin in 2011 with his 50th win at Bristol, he continued racing and now has 89 wins. He can easily go on with his occasional starts to like 60 wins or even more. Why not? 55. Well, apart from his Iowa and Bristol wins, he can just run consistently, that's all. He doesn't lead a lot of laps and that's not good. Especially not when he doesn't have Kyle Busch in his way and can start a lot of races in #18. But those wins just aren't coming like they're coming in Christopher Bell's case. So either #18 is off, or Preece just can't drive the same way like Bell... Simple. Plus, he won't be anything special in Cup, either. JTG Daugherty Racing definitely isn't Joe Gibbs Racing and the competition in Cup is WAY tougher than in Xfinity. 60. Plus dominance in Xfinity isn't always an indicator of what will happen in Cup, ask that Jimmie Johnson fellow who has all of one Busch/Xfinity series win, a lucky one on his way up the ladder when Ryan Newman threw it all away at Chicagoland. I'd love to see how the Internet would have responded to guys who weren't winners right out of the box back in the day. "That Bill Elliott kid is a total backmarker if Mr. Georgia there can even get funding to race," "Mark Martin is pretty good in ASA but he's not cut out for Cup and his rookie season shows it, flashes of brilliance and a whole lot of nothing," "Jeff Gordon's a joke, he's running Hendrick equipment and still he can't win the races that really count for points. Predicting a young drivers future success is just stupid. Neither Johnson or Stewart were impressive in the Busch series, Logano and Kyle Busch both failed to live up to expectations for their first few seasons in cup but did fine upon switching teams. Yes, based on the fact that he was in top notch equipment from 2005 to 2007, he didn't meet expectations, but it would have been a mistake to discount his future based on that. 64. I would say that the dominance (or at least winning races) in Xfinity wasn't always the indicator of the future Cup performance, but now, it's doesn't work that way. Winning races or not, the nowadays rookies just find out what it's like to meet the competition in Cup very quickly - by struggling and not winning. They need at least 3 years to become competitive, while former rookies were almost immediately winning at the same age (ask Kyle Busch or Jeff Gordon). 61. That technical alliance might help them to run better, but definitely not to run that much better. They won't be a weekly contenders for the win. Actually, they will be lucky, if they score a top 5 finish under normal circumstances. 63. I agree - he wasn't anything special, but at least he was able to win races immediately and not after 3 years of frustration, choking and struggling... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
