Fun or ego may be part of it for some of the drivers, but as a practice session it makes a lot more sense here than on the cookie cutter tracks. 8. JSPorts posted: 08.01.2017 - 6:24 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @7 I think that's a good point. This is the only Xfinity road course that Cup also races at, so if the guys want more road course experience, this would be the track to drive at. Kurt Busch & Jimmie Johnson in 2011, Carl Edwards in 2012, Marcos Ambrose in 2014 and Trevor Bayne in 2016 are some recent examples of Cup drivers who made their only start of the year at WGI. 9. Kyle Busch scores his first Waktins Glen win (second road course overall since he also won at Mexico City back in 2008) as well as scoring his 90th career win, all in the Xfinity Series. This is the second time Kyle Busch has led the most laps in a race in the 2017 Xfinity season(43 laps led this Watkins Glen race and 44 laps led couple weeks ago at Indianapolis), and they at the least amount of laps he has led in a race all season(minus Michigan, where he hasn't led a single lap after starting on the pole). Joe Gibbs Racing now is the winningest team in the Xfinity series, as they score their 139th win at Watkins Glen surpassing Jack Roush, while they score their first win in the Xfinity Series as well. 60.
