The top four in the current standings can probably ride easy with the knowledge that a non-profit regular will win. 8. NewGuyOnTheBlock posted: 11.09.2017 - 3:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 7. There is also the owner's championship to consider. Owners want the best driver in their car, and since NASCAR doesn't allow 5-year vets in the Cup series to compete in the Xfinity playoffs, the owners must turn to Truck drivers and free agents. Many of these rides are contending for the Owner's title. 11. Willsome429 posted: 11.09.2017 - 4:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @7: NASCAR has every right to run Bell. Cup drivers are a different scenario but Bell just wants to advance his career. That is actually in the sports best Iong term interest because by allowing Bell to get a feel for Xfinity cars this year, he will be better acclimated next year and challenge Cup guys for wins. 12. Sadler is like the Senior who is not quite good enough for varsity so he plays JV and beats up on kids 2-3 younger and far weaker. 13. Jonathan King posted: 11.09.2017 - 9:28 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @12 ummm...just because he is a veteran doesn't mean he is beating up the younger crowd. If anything, Sadler is more of a mentor than a buschwacker. 14. Scott B posted: 11.09.2017 - 11:24 pm Rate this comment: (4) (0) Historically, this series used to have a lot of veterans, so I have no problem with Sadler running for the title. When Busch picked up sponsorship, the most dominant and popular drivers were older guys like Sam Ard and Jack Ingram. The idea of this as a developmental series didn't really pick up steam till the Jeff Gordon era when drivers started to be groomed in their teens. 15. Corey posted: 11.10.2017 - 10:40 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) @15 I want to say that as the Xfinity series was turning into a development series in the late 90's and early 00's, the truck series was turning into the Senior citizen ciruit. It's only in the last 10 years or so, that the series started to truly become a feeder series to Xfinity. 16. He's a title contender! He went three-wide with Cole Custer and the lapped car of series debutant Caesar Bacarella. As Custer passed Bacarella the newcomer came down the track and collided with Poole as he passed low, the impact sent the #48 up the track and into the outside wall in turn 1. 24. RaceFanX posted: 11.11.2017 - 4:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Poole is back on the track after his crew attempted repairs. The #48 crew just beat the five minute clock by about 20 seconds but the damage is too severe; he blew a tire due to the damage and smacked the frontstretch wall off turn 4 while still under caution. The #48 DC Solar Chevrolet Camaro is a goner for today and Poole's shot at the championship is gone. 25. Right now the other three spots are held by his teammates Justin Allgaier and Elliott Sadler and former JR Motorsports racer Cole Custer. With Brennan Poole out that leaves Daniel Hemric, Matt Tifft, and Ryan Reed on the outside looking in with him. Reed is so far back the only way he's getting in is with a win. 32. His battle with Custer was awesome and a great representation of how you can be aggressive and respectful racing your competitor. Custer deserves credit as well for not dumping Hemric...in the end I think it earns both drivers respect for giving the fans a great race to watch. 51. 924 posted: 11.11.2017 - 9:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) "Custer deserves credit as well for not dumping Hemric." The issue comes down to the fact that very few other top teams have full-time Xfinity drivers and are also running up front consistently. Of the drivers that made the Xfinity Chase, you had 4 JR, 2 Childress, 1 Roush, 1 Gibbs, 1 Ganassi, 1 Clements, 1 HAAS and 1 Kaulig. Getting three in the championship is an accomplishment, but when you consider that the 18, 20, 22 and 42 had rotating drivers all season, then it shouldn't be that unexpected. 53. It's just like the 2013 Richmond "spin gate" in Cup, where Bowyer and Truex both lost 50 points before the reset. It didn't impact Bowyer, he still made the Chase with 2000 points, but Truex was knocked out of the Chase entirely. 64.
