It's his first win since Bristol in August 2016, ending a 26-race losing streak, and his first win at M.I.S. This was just his fourth start of 2018. This was Dillon's first Xfinity start at M.I.S. since his championship season back in 2013. Dillon, after some discussion from his team, does a burnout on the frontstretch to celebrate his win although a lot of the fans have already taken shelter from the rain. They are going to use an alternate indoor victory lane in the garages once he gets there. 72. With all due respect Ryan, eat sh*t with that comment. Post 60 is correct in the summation that Austin hasn't won a race without outside forces intervening, or getting into another car as the race nears its imminent end since Fall Bristol in 2016. This package produced some really good racing all day, and plenty of cars made passes on the inside, by themselves. Austin could have raced him down the front straight away, but he decided that wouldn't be as easy as nudging him up the track in turn 4. Come to think of it, this isn't the first time Kaz Grala has been given a bumper by a rich ride buying driver named Austin. :v And no I'm not saying Kaz would've won, but it certainly would have been nice to see Austin get out front and stay out front cleanly. 81. You don't move over or check up into turns when you know the race can be called at anytime. Grala will have his time, but not today. If you're really backing what Almirola did by blocking Dillon at Daytona then you're in the wrong. This rules package sucks. All you do is stay in line for the most part. Only action I saw was off restarts and that's because of the double-file restart bs. If NASCAR Cup decides to go to it then it will be their Waterloo (Napoleon). 89. Maybe he'll get another chance in top notch stuff after his star-crossed Joe Gibbs tenure. Ryan Reed is dynamite when you put the plates on, no matter what the track. This wasn't really an issue with Austin being a Cupper, honestly. If it was the other way around, I would be less upset with the move, yes, but still I wouldn't agree with it. I guess I'm more upset with the idea that when a driver has a string of lucky and/or controversial wins, especially a driver who I don't believe has anything above average to just above average talent, I'd like to see a clean and green win to shake that label I suppose. Yeah, when you don't know when the race is gonna end, you've gotta run harder. But still. There's the right way to do something, and the easy way to do something. For what it's worth, Austin took the easy way in my opinion. And no, it didn't hit that close to home. To be honest, the millennial comment got to me more than anything. xP 92. But to the point you made, I really wish when it came to stage points, they would change how they assign them. I feel like it would be much better to give points to the Top 10 *series regulars*, as if the Buschwhackers aren't even there. I would suggest they'd have to win the stage outright to get the playoff point, but that wouldn't really be that much to quiver over. But yeah, the whole idea of stages and stage points is kind of lost when 3 or 4 positions from each stage have points essentially thrown right into the garbage. 93. I went on YouTube and searched "Isle Of Man TT" and I saw this video where there are fans sitting on the ground RIGHT NEXT to a street the motorcycles were racing on. I was in shock they would allow something like that. 99. John posted: 06.10.2018 - 1:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @40 Aren't there 7 Isle of Man TT races? It is funny you mention it because I just started watching it this year. I saw 3 of the 7 races and taped the others. I was surprised the announcers didn't mention the drivers that passed away during the event. I looked up the fatalities at the events history and yeah those guys are crazy. The odd thing is the rate has seemed to have gotten worse, not better. 100. Been told that by people who live on the island it's for a number of reasons, noise, crime, traffic, dumb spectators. That being said major balls needed to ride the TT course on anything. Having driven it at road speeds on the way around the island it's scary enough in a road car in road conditions, I don't want to find myself going at 180 thanks... That being said I always watch the TT every year, it's one of the last great road races. Far as the fatalities go, the crowd usually can tell if a rider's made it out of a wreck or not even if it's across the course. There's a great documentary on Youtube about it, I forget the name Yes there's several categories of TT, the Senior is the blue riband event but if you want insanity...sidecars. Enough said. I thought the Senior riders were crazy, but the sidecars take it to a whole new level. 101. possum posted: 06.11.2018 - 6:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @99 - it varies from time to time, but for the past few years there have been 9 races, I beleive, for 6 classes of motorcycles: Superbike TT and Senior TT (both for 1000cc Superbikes), the Supersport TT Race 1 and Race 2 (the second one being formerly known as the Junior TT) (both for 600cc bikes), the Superstock (for 1000cc "closer to production" bikes), the Lightweight TT (for 750cc twins), Sidecar TT Race 1 and Race 2, and the TT Zero (for electric bikes). 102. Also, I had a talk with a guy who came back from working in the pits at the TT for one of the sidecar teams, those guys are absolutely crazy. There's a major sense of camaraadrie around the whole field, there's the whole 'when the visor shuts you block it out' mentality for certain riders, which, as the mechanic said, you either get terrified or you outrun the fear. Another good quote came from a fan I met the other day who said, quote: The SBK guys (or superbike) don't lean, they let their balls drag the bike through the corner. There's something to be said for that, bravery and courage indeed Also, the TT was originally a car race back nearly 100 years ago in the 20s and 30s. It's always a crazy spectacle, I'v been in quite few pubs around the course for meals and stuff though not during race time, I forget where on the island but there's one that's dedicated to the history of the TT. Fun place if you're into TT stories and lore, I'd suggest anyone in Europe or who can get the paperwork together come over to the TT and enjoy the atmosphere. 103.
