If the NHRA want it done sooner it would have been done sooner but they dragged their feet and now Xfinity is at the Brickyard. Track should be done with the upgrades in 2021. So maybe Truck and/or Xfinity would return then. 15. Canadianfan posted: 09.05.2018 - 12:41 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) @14 I think it was less dragging their feet and more they didn't give a you know what. NASCAR asked them for years for upgrades to make it better for the teams and fans and they responded with maybe later. NASCAR said fine and moved Xfinity to IMS and LOR responded by saying they couldn't make enough money with just the Trucks and asked NASCAR to remove them from the 2012 Truck Schedule. 16. Justin Allgaier and Cole Custer were battling right a one lap shootout after a restart. When they came to the checkers to end Stage 1, John Hunter Nemechek got ahead on the inside of Custer, and Ryan Preece was flying on the outside of Allagaier and nearly took the Stage one win. If the finish line was an inch or two ahead than it currently is, Preece had it. John Hunter Nemechek wins Stage 1. 38. Reddick, Blaney, and Elliott tried to get runs started in the last dozen laps and set up a move at the finish, but couldn't get anything going. Best race at Indy in years. Not saying much, but an event with great racing that wasn't a complete sh*tshow is great to see. If you missed this race for school or work or otherwise, I do recommend a watch. Looking forward to the Cup race in about an hour. 48. Mr. Checkered posted: 09.10.2018 - 1:05 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) There's been a lot of debate lately on here about whether the NASCAR events at the Brickyard should be considered marquee. I can tell you this, I've never seen Justin Allgaier get that emotional after winning a race. It goes to show you what it really means to win at IMS in any kind of race car. I don't care if it's open wheel, stock cars or sports cars. Indianapolis Motor Speedway isn't just big for the Indianapolis 500 but big for all of auto racing in general. It brings out the emotions in winning drivers much like Daytona. Happy for Justin. Hopefully he can keep this momentum up into the playoffs. 49. The difference between first and second was .013 seconds, and the difference between all four cars was .036 sec! Insane. As far as Allgaier's win, good for him, but I'm a bit dismayed that Reddick wasn't able to make the winning pass in the final laps. Granted, I'm not a race car driver and I don't have a full understanding of how the cars handle and how the draft works out there like they do, but it seems to me that Reddick wasn't timing his runs very well. Seemed like he would drive up to the rear of the #7, but run out of time to pass him before they'd get to turns 1 and 3. Like, he should've backed out of it entering the turn, then build up speed through the turns and get a huge run down the long straights. But what do I know? Lastly, this aero package that debuted here in 2017. I'm starting to come around on it. It's definitely incredible and makes for wild racing that is back and forth each lap with positions changing all the time, which I love, but as a racing purist, it's hard to get behind something that is artificial and creates "fake" racing. But I suppose that since I enjoy restrictor plate racing at Daytona/Talladega, I should enjoy this as well. 61. JSPorts posted: 09.12.2018 - 6:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think you're right about Reddick. Seems like he isn't experienced enough to know how to time those runs. I'm also with you on the package. I'd prefer them not have to use it, but the racing is so much better when they do. It creates exciting racing, but the best cars/drivers still end up at the front, while little teams also have a chance for better runs & finishes. 62. Matt posted: 09.12.2018 - 10:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @60, just like restrictor plate tracks, everybody wants to wait until the last lap. Stupid because 1. you basically give yourself one chance to make it happen. 2. If a caution comes out on the last lap, you lose your chance. Speaking of, does anybody else think that they should do a green white checkered if there is a caution on the final lap? I hate caution finishes. 63.
