JD Motorsports isn't at a full blown disadvantage at Dover considering it's only a 1 mile track. Chastain's skills will make up for what the car lacks here. 11. But if Ross goes 11th in stage 1, 2 and finishes 11th, everyone ahead of him I think will be good enough to stay ahead of him, then all Cindric has to do is finish 8th in stage 1 & 2 then 7th in the race. Shouldn't be too hard to do without Cup drivers in the mix. At Dover back in May Cindric was 6th in stage 1, 3rd in stage 2, and finished 9th so it's very likely. But we probably won't know until the white flag waves 12. Timothy Eklund 19 43 13 96 99 fan posted: 10.02.2018 - 2:40 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Ross deserves a good ride 13. He is talented, but the more he gets the more trouble there could be. It's what I was referring to about the crap list. Mark my words, if Chastain does start to have success and does start to win using aggressive tactics he'll be like the 2004 Red Sox. Everyone hopped on the wagon and was so glad they won and broke the Ruth "curse", until... they started to be more successful and it got old after a while. Kind of like the Cubs of '16. It is a great story that he has made it, but lets not put him in the Hall of Fame or compare him to the GOAT just yet. "Seems like you used to." I did like Dale Earnhardt, however, I think many people blow up his "aggression". Yes, he was a hard charger and raced hard and aggressive at times. He did so in the late 70's and most of the 80's when the car was capable of that until the aero packages took over and you could no longer race literally door to door like that. I assure you, he wasn't the only one. Geoff Bodine, Tim Richmond, Rusty Wallace, and even Jeff Gordon (ask Rusty about Bristol a few times) were all aggressive drivers. I hope you're not one of those people that believe Dale won 824% of his 76 races by wrecking or hitting someone out of the way to do it, but then again you did less than two months ago that Kes was the #3 guy at Penske, so who knows... 66. I don't think anyone is a potential champion until they've raced quite a bit in a car that is capable of winning week in and week out to prove themselves. That 42 car is fast. There is a fine line between racing a few races here and there being in contention for the win, then finding yourself a full time ride with that team and end up pulling an Elliott Sadler. 68. Danish Pie posted: 10.07.2018 - 10:50 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @78 To say he should have won all three races, though it came close to happening, is not entirely realistic. Though everyone will more than likely disagree, the winning power of Chip Ganassi's Xfinity equipment is I think is a bit over played. Since the start of 2017, there have been 75 races to date that a Chip Ganassi car was not driven by Kyle Larson or, for the sake of this conversation Ross Chastain. The stats of those race go as such: 2 Wins, 15 Top 5's, 38 Top 10's, 189 Laps Led, 3 Poles, 11.5 Avg. Finish Chastain has led 81 more laps in 3 starts then 6 drivers in 75 starts, and to add to that he led 0 laps at Richmond. He didn't have race winning pace that night, was a fringe Top 10 car most of the race, and he managed to claw up to a runner up finish. I agree that we shouldn't start carving his HoF plaque now, but of all of the young drivers in the sport, it's easy to say he has as much if not more upside then about any driver on the radar at the moment. People seem to forget how meh to bad JD Motorsports is since Ross has been in the 4, but the fact we can have this conversation about a driver in Johnny Davis' stable shows he is somethin'. And as for my "closest thing to Dale Earnhardt" post, I mean that of any driver from Xfinity to K&N, he is one of the few and perhaps one of the last that you can say is as aggressive as he can be whenever he can be. I personally don't think he has ever crossed the line with a competitor, but he goes right up to the line and looks over the edge, much like Earnhardt did as a young driver. (And people may point at Darlington with Harvick and say otherwise, but I thought Harvick's interview afterwards showed that Kevin forced the issue by taking the piss out of a young up-and-comer showing him up to that point.) 80. I felt like Chastain had a problem or was pissed that Harvick was about to pass him at Darlington where he had dominated most of the race and he pulled that stunt to where Harvick couldn't even turn his wheel. That's why Harvick was irritated with him. There was 40 laps to go and he pulled that stunt. He could have passed him back later on in the race if he was good enough.
