McLeod is set to make his first start for his own team since Pocono last year, in early June. Riley Herbst making his first Xfinity start of 2019. Mario Gosselin entering three cars for the first time in 2019, and only the second time ever. (The other being the July Iowa race last year.) This race marks the return of Elliott Sadler to Xfinity Series competition. The recently retired-from-full-time racer and Virginia native will make the first of two starts in the Kaulig #10. Basically no chance of happening, but I would love to see Brandon Brown maybe get a ride with Carl Long or Rick Ware for this race, just so he could keep whatever playoff hopes he has alive. 12. Shepherd should have been the 38th spot based on owner's points. Not surprised by this, considering Childress and Shepherd have worked together in the past. I'm just hoping Shepherd got something nice out of the deal (maybe he can get a car for Talladega. Since Shepherd didn't run Daytona I'm assuming they don't have a speedway car). 31. Though, if all the drivers in NASCAR that are racing do to their name, Custer is definitely the best racer. Briscoe will get there soon. 39. rm posted: 04.12.2019 - 9:36 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This is Custer's 124th top-3 series start This is Briscoe's 49th top-3 series start Easy now. Anonymous posted: 04.13.2019 - 3:56 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) @41 I had to look up what teetotaler means, but it sounds dope and I'm gone use it from now on when applicable. Lmao And yes, Shepherd probably hasn't touched a drop of alcohol since his youth. I know that he turned down sponsorship from Coor's at some point in his career, though I can't recall exactly what year. Along with winning the race, Cole Custer also brings home the $100,000 Dash-4-Cash bonus, and will be eligible again for it next week at Talladega, along with Cindric, Allgaier, and Reddick. I was cheering so hard for Ryan Sieg to get into the Top 4, just to be eligible for the Dash-4-Cash at Talladega, where he would have a hell of a good chance of winning it if he were one of the four. One spot short, unfortunately. Doesn't take anything away from an incredibly impressive run. It sometimes hard to remember that Ross Chastain is still in the field, with just how much Sieg has stepped into the role of ?mid-pack driver punching way above their weight.? Though Chastain ran well in the second half of the race, running just inside the Top 10 on the last lap before getting passed by Haley in the last turn. Zane Smith ran around Top 6 seemingly all day in this his third Xfinity start. Despite not having a full-time driver, I could definitely see that 8 car in Victory Lane at some point this year, possibly with Zane, Ryan Truex, or maybe even Jeb Burton or another driver. As was remarked multiple times on the FOX broadcast, really nice Xfinity debut for Dillon Bassett driving for Mario Gossellin. Running Top 20 well over half the race and netting a Top 15 finish. Hope he gets some more chances to show what he's got. Great to see Brandon Brown, not only get a ride with Rod Sieg when he otherwise would have not entered the race and lost his playoff eligibility in a very promising season, but also get a Top 20 finish. Even though there are a handful of underdogs I would love to see sneak into the playoffs that have a realistic shot as of right now; Chastain, Gaudling, Clements, obviously Sieg. Brandon Brown might be the one I'd love to see get in the most out of all of them. With the finishes he's got driving for a family team (up to this point) with zero sponsorship, well the other teams that have a chance at least have some, I think it would be really cool if he could get to 12th in points by the end of the regular season. 44. Gabriel posted: 04.15.2019 - 12:20 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Good race. It's a miracle the whole race got in with that weather forecast. I'm glad it didn't because the drivers were giving 110% knowing the race could've been over at any moment. 50. UnderdogFan89 posted: 04.15.2019 - 4:52 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @48 I'm pretty sure that's not allowed once the cars are at the track. There was a rule once upon a time that once a car was entered and at the track, it could not be used for another car. This came up once when Joe Nemechek was running two cars (#87 and #97) at Las Vegas in 2011, one for himself (87) and one that Kevin Conway would S&P (97). Well, Nemechek crashed his car, so the common thought was that Conway's car would get withdrawn and Nemechek would use it (since Conway was using Nemechek's backup car, and he didn't have anything else). Well NASCAR put a stop to that, citing the above rule, and so Nemechek ran the 97 the full race, and Nemechek borrowed a car from Jay Robinson for Conway to park in, but it had to be the 87. Super convoluted, but I agree with this ruling in that it could open a whole bag of worms if cars could just get shuffled around like that. 52. TeamDCRfan posted: 04.15.2019 - 7:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @51 Previously though at WG in 2015, the 89 had been turned into the 40 after Carl Longs 40 blew an engine and didn't have a backup. 53. UnderdogFan89 posted: 04.16.2019 - 7:20 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think that is different because the #89 had already DNQ'd, so he wasn't technically there anymore....? I dunno, just guessing. Either way, adding owner points to the #89 won't help that much since he would still be behind all the people who have attempted all the races for provisionals. 54.
