Circuit City (the company you think of when you hear that name) went bankrupt and closed in 2009. Most of their stores were sold to hhgregg, who themselves went bankrupt a couple of years ago. The Circuit City name was sold to the owners of Tiger Direct, which by then was on-line only, who phased it out several years ago. Apparently someone has recently bought the name, and is trying to re-establish it as an on-line business. I would not place high odds on their success. 41. Scott25 posted: 06.16.2019 - 7:55 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) NASCAR should merge the Xfinity and Trucks into one true support series for the Cup series, like Indy Lights or F2. Then they should merge the K&N and ARCA into the third tier series (with the same cars they're using now) with a mostly short track schedule with a few speedways and road courses. Then bring back the regional late model tours they had in the 90's, using normal late model cars that can race anywhere in the country, as the logical step above weekly short track racing. 60. Of course, before 1995, that's all there was. NASCAR could support 3 national series during its popularity boom in the 1990s and 2000s, but now, it would make much more sense to return to just one support series. But with TV contracts in place and money being made off having 3 series, I doubt that will change anytime soon. 63. Cup owners have a huge advantage in this series and it's been like that for about 20 years now. Example If Germain Racing is struggling to compete with JGR in Cup why would these mom and pop teams in xfinity have a chance against JGR. It's just time to kick out the cup owners if they wanna develop young talent they should form alliances with Xfinity owners but only through technical support and open notebooks. Not building cars and engines for them. Let the xfinity owners have something for themselves like they did in the 80's and 90's. 68. A year ago when Cup regulars were winning many of the early season Xfinity races, some people would of given anything to see guys like Bell, Custer and Reddick win. Now that the Cup guys are running less races, the NEW argument is that the same Xfinity regulars are always winning and they drive for cup affiliated teams... I swear, NASCAR fans are the hardest fans to please in this entire world. Not saying that I'm totally against keeping Cup teams in cup, but even if you did the cream is always going to rise to the top. There is still going to be three to four teams up front competing for wins. I understand people wanting parity, but do we really want every team in the field to have a legit shot at winning every race? 75. I have zero issues with Reddick, Bell, Custer winning i actually like it a lot the series is in much better shape in 2019 than it was 2006-2010 way better in fact. But we can't ignore the issues that are still being played out Cup owners have a huge advantage correct? So how does nascar fix a once true development series that's still kind of struggling with identity issues? How do you help the mid pack teams RSS, Clements, SS Greenlight, DGM etc those teams are identifiable with the xfinity brand those kind of teams are what made this series great in its prime so how do you help those guys compete against Billionaire cup owners? So is it fair? Wouldn't you like to see a little more competition in these races? I'm clueless to some of you fans that see the current format as perfectly fine. You clearly see more parity in the truck series and you clearly see the races are better. 81. Robby posted: 06.17.2019 - 2:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @80 I probably could have worded my post a little differently. I never said I was perfectly fine with the current format of the Xfinity series. As far as the smaller teams getting up to speed meaning more competition, more parity, HECK YES!!! I'm all for it!!! I'm not defending cup teams in the lower series by any means. I said in my earlier post that I kind of like the idea of keeping cup teams exclusively in the cup series. The point of my post was to say that even if there were no cup teams in Xfinity, there would still be 3-4 teams that will figure things out over time and dominate. I too would rather see Xfinity teams race other series regular teams rather than cup. My argument is that people always complain when four or five drivers and teams win the majority of the races. Can racing become more competitive? Sure. Should it? Absolutely, but it will never get to the point where every single week is a different winner. There will always be certain drivers and teams winning multiple races in a season. It's not just in NASCAR where dominance is found. Penske has won 5 out of 9 Indycar races this season, Mercedes has won every F1 race this season even though Vettel and Ferrari should have won the last GP. Steve Torrence just came off of winning five in a row in NHRA Top Fuel, Porsche has won three out of four races in the GTLM class in IMSA, Venturini Motorsports has won 7 out of 10 races in ARCA, and Brad Sweet, Logan Schuchart, Donny Schatz and David Gravel have combined to win half of the races in World of Outlaws sprint cars this season. Even though Gibbs and Penske have won all but one Cup race this season, it's not like other teams haven't had chances. Hendrick, Stewart-Haas, and Ganassi cars have been in the mix in certain races this season but haven't been able to close it out with a win. So all in all, I do believe that the smaller teams should be able to compete a little easier with other competitors but at the same time not punishing the front running teams for being successful. There needs to be a balance there. However, there is always going to be those teams and drivers that are just simply better than the rest. Same as in any motorsport or stick and ball sport. The cream will always rise to the top. Oh and @83 Me., I 100% agree with you about the less money = better racing part. High costs has definitely done its part to hurt racing!!! 85. Sector posted: 06.17.2019 - 6:31 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @84 Penske is also dominating with Scott McLauglin on pace for a 20 win season in Australian Supercars. Point is proven when someone new wins or a driver who doesn't win at all starts winning the first few, everyone loves them. But when they start winning regularly, he's the most hated. Example: Martin Truex, Jr. However Joey Logano winning the championship wasn't popular because he wasn't as strong as Kevin Harvick or Kyle Busch in Cup's 2018 season. You are correct, the vast majority of the fan base has a personal problem when it comes to racing. 86. 11darknight10 posted: 06.24.2019 - 10:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ryan Sieg's sponsor was Larry's Hard Lemonade/CMR Construction 87.
