Reddick stopped in both places and fell back to 22nd, before rallying through the first stage. Meanwhile, behind Reddick in the backstretch chicane on lap 1, carnage ensued as several drivers piled into one another. JJ Yeley appeared to get the worst of it as his nose was crushed in. On the lap 6 restart, playoff driver Michael Annett caved in his nose on a stackup, but stayed out in pursuit of some playoff points at the end of the stage. Lap 29, Annett currently runs 23rd out of 32 lead-lap cars. 37. joey2448 posted: 09.28.2019 - 4:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Lap 32, JH Nemechek and Preston Pardus both miss the fronstretch chicane racing each other. 38. First pit stall is the turn 1 end (actually stall #4 at Charlotte, if I remember correctly, because the first 3 aren't used). Briscoe chose the last pit stall, at the turn 4 (turn 14) end of the track. Anyway, why he'd pick the last pit stall is a good question. Usually the pole sitter picks the first stall, because when leaving he can just stand on the gas, and not have to worry about pit road speed limits. On the roval, however, there's a sharp bend at the end of pit road, so you can't just stand on the gas. There's a similar situation at the other end of pit road, where you can come in faster and not worry about speed limits because you'll stop before going thru the first timing zone. I'm going to guess that Briscoe's team felt that was the most advantageous in terms of overall time on pit road. There is a risk to that choice, tho, which is that if he's near the front of the pack and finishes his stop while other cars are still entering the pits, he could be blocked and slowed as he exits. If it was me, I'd take the first stall. If I've got someone behind me, I want them to stay there; I don't want to let them by and figure I'll go back past at the end of the stop. 61. cba2442 posted: 09.28.2019 - 8:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 10 has passed tech now. Mannoroth posted: 09.29.2019 - 2:16 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) How to get rid of your opponents easily at Charlotte Roval? Force them to go straight through the chicane, they will get a penalty from NASCAR for cutting the corner and you have one less opponent to worry about. Another example of stupidity from those who are in charge, because they don't care why you cut the corner. You do it for any reason = penalty is waiting for you. 71. Sector posted: 09.29.2019 - 3:38 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #70 While I do find it pretty hilarious that GiveMajeskiAChance is trashing on Christopher Bell and is bragging about Chase Briscoe being the perfect choice to win this race, Bell certainly let them both know his displeasure with Briscoe running him off the track of the chicane which granted him the penalty. Bell was hoping for it to be a "justifiable reason" for being ran off the track in such instance. He didn't come to a complete stop after it happened and was getting back to Briscoe for it, which lead to him spinning Briscoe out. It'll be difficult to determine the rule in that regard, especially with how difficult the track is and you just have to lift in such situation (that's just racing). I'm not sure if there should be a penalty for being driven off the track at that part or not. It's one of those instances where on a restrictor plate track (Daytona and Talladega) where you cannot pass below the yellow line at all, and the tricky part is if you're forced below the yellow line it is fine. We've seen in the past that it doesn't matter and they still get penalized anyway. 72. If someone else forces you to cut the corner and you overtake him, give him his position back (that means let him completely pass you) and then try again. 74.
