Mile501 posted: 11.05.2019 - 3:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Our 2020 Xfinity lineup is rather concerning. Here is a list of the likely top 12 full-time drivers: #00 Cole Custer #1 Michael Annett #7 Justin Allgaier #9 Noah Gragson #10 Ross Chastain #11 Justin Haley #18 Riley Herbst #19 Brandon Jones #20 Harrison Burton #22 Austin Cindric #39 Ryan Sieg #98 Chase Briscoe Plus, perhaps, the #2 and/or the #23, depending on what happens with those teams. Not only does that list include several drivers with questionable talent, but few names on that list elicit much excitement from fans. And these will be the TOP teams in the series next year. 3. NascarLeadLapPoints posted: 11.05.2019 - 3:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Herbst only won 1 race in Gibbs equipment in Arca, don't be surprise if Clements beats him to make the chase 4. George_Costanza posted: 11.05.2019 - 4:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) At least if a competent driver takes over the #2 car, there's a very high chance Herbst misses the playoffs. How amazing would that be? 5. Zach posted: 11.05.2019 - 4:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @2 With that group of guys it's almost a guarantee Custer wins the championship. 6. Anonymous posted: 11.05.2019 - 4:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 2 I am questioning about Custer if he will go to cup or not. So I wouldn't assume that he will be in Xfinity next year. Also I think that Gray Gaulding, Ryan Sieg, and Jeremy Clemets will beat Riley Herbst in Xfinity points next year. Also 4th Gibbs car for Kyle? 7. TTaylor944 posted: 11.05.2019 - 4:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Have any of you read Herbst's results page? He has four top-10's in nine starts with an average finish of 14.2. That's terrible in a JGR car, but that's not earth-shatteringly bad either. There are two drivers in the playoffs this year with a worse average finish, and Gray Gaulding in 13th has an average finish of 16.1. Herbst will be in the playoffs. 8. rm posted: 11.05.2019 - 6:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) He'll be fine to make the playoffs unless there wind up being more competitive full-time teams that pop up. He'll just be shockingly, aggressively mediocre in the process He seems to have gotten a lot of the rough driving out of his system after last season. Shame, because at least that would have made him entertaining to watch next year when somebody inevitably goes after him. Someday, someone will unseat Kevin Conway for the title of worst JGR development driver. Don't think it will be ole Terrible Herbst though. 9. Other numbers Gibbs teams have used in the past: #02 (4 Cup races in 2009) #80 (4 Cup races in 2003-2007) #81 (1 cup race in 2013) #4 (full Busch season in 2000) #42 (7 Busch races in 1998-1999) #44 (full Busch season in 1998) #54 (full Busch season in 2013-2015, primarily with Kyle Busch) #48 (5 truck races for Coy & J.D. Gibbs in 2000-2001) I'd guess they would use the #54 if it's available, since it will primarily be for Kyle Busch to reach 100 wins. 12. Yeet posted: 11.05.2019 - 8:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @11 I'd like to see the 80 come out, that would be pretty sick, plus the options may be thinner than that considering the 02 and 4 are already taken. Part of me believes the 54 will return though, or heck maybe they'll use the 81 if XCI is still technically around. 13. TTaylor944 posted: 11.05.2019 - 9:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I expect them to bring back the #54, but there are some interesting possibilities. Imagine if they do like both Penske and Ganassi did and take the #48. That would be two more highly successful Cup drivers running a number mostly associated with a much more successful Cup driver. 14. Corey posted: 11.05.2019 - 9:13 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @11 I don't see the 44 being used by Gibbs. That was primarily a Labonte number as they used it both before and after the 1998 season. I am curious to the deals made at the time between Gibbs and Labonte in order to facilitate a year ownership like that. 15.
