RaceFanX posted: 11.12.2019 - 3:27 pm Rate this comment: (2) (1) The final race of the NASCAR Xfinity Series season sees four drivers from four different teams all come to Homestead with a shot at the championship as Christopher Bell, Cole Custer, and Justin Allgaier look to topple reigning champion Tyler Reddick in his bid for back to back titles. Bell, Custer, and Roddick have arguably been the series' best drivers this year as they have combined to win 20 of the 32 races so far but Allgaier is coming into the finale hot off a win at Phoenix last week. Reddick won the championship for JR Motorsports last year, Allgaier's team, but this year if he wins the title it would be for RCR. No driver has ever won the Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity series title two years in a row with different teams. JR Motorsports has won the title two years in a row with two different drivers (William Byron and Reddick) and now looks for a three-peat with another new face. Title or bust this will be Christopher Bell's last NASCAR Xfinity Series race as a regular. He is moving up to the Joe Gibbs Racing-connected Leavine Family Racing in the Cup series for 2020. Joe Gibbs Racing won the title in 2016 with Daniel Suarez and they'd love nothing more than to do it again with Bell before moving him up the ladder. Cole Custer and Stewart-Haas Racing have never won an Xfinity Series title. If they can pull it off it will give Ford its first title in this series since Chris Buescher won the championship in 2015. 3. The 35 and 52 teams are currently 8 points apart in a battle for the last spot in the top 30. - final race in the NXS that will consist of 38 cars. In 2020, the size of the Xfinity Series field will be 36. - could possibly be the final race for GMS Racing in the Xfinity Series, as it's been announced that Our Motorsports will run full time next season using most of GMS equipment. - see prior comment about Sam Hunt Racing - Colin Garrett will look to make his Xfinity Series debut. 5. The guys who won lesser than the others (Reddick/Johnson for Chevy) won the championship, beating their closest competitor (Custer/Edwards for Ford) while their only other competitor were playing catch-up in the end (Bell/Busch for Toyota). While the Toyota & Ford squad were reversed in wins (Edwards won 9 to Busch's 8 in Cup as oppose to Bell winning 8 to Custer's 7) it's really not all that much different. Of course I'm only referring to the wins; The laps led/Top 5/Top 10 categories are an entirely different story as they show no similarities. 112. 83VickersFan posted: 11.16.2019 - 7:03 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) To those haters who bashed him last year, look at him now. 113. Sure, RCR hasn't looked all that good since 2008, but even as recently as 2013, Kevin Harvick (in his last year with the team) won 4 races and finished 3rd in points. RCR hasn't had a great driver since then, so it's hard to tell where their equipment is now. My guess is that Reddick will have a hard time winning a race but will earn a few top 5s and legitimately contend for a playoff spot. It's easy to say that Reddick is the better of the 2 drivers talent-wise, and I'm not disagreeing, but to say that Childress equipment qualifies as mid-pack is a little charitable. For that reason it's entirely possible that Reddick won't fare any better as a Cup rookie than Hemric did. Childress equipment, barring some sudden unaccountable improvement in 2020, is obviously no match for: Gibbs (5 cars) Penske (3 cars, 4 if you include the 21) SHR (4 cars) And even: Hendrick (4 cars) Ganassi (2 cars) Roush (2 cars) That's a minimum of 20 cars which Childress equipment ranks behind. It is highly unlikely that any Childress car makes the playoffs on points in 2020, and will have to luck into a race win which would almost certainly have to occur at Daytona or Talladega. With all that, RCR could become just as dissatisfied with Reddick's performance as they were with Hemric's, and it might only be the "let's give a guy a second year this time instead of knee-jerk reacting" factor that keeps him around in '21. 141.
