No Xfinity field size has been that large since the starting grid was reduced from 40 to 38 following the 2018 season. I guess that's why you never say never again, right? 2. Just seems unnecessary 3. rm posted: 05.16.2020 - 3:06 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) I believe Kyle was originally scheduled to run Chicagoland, but with that race being cancelled JGR needed to add another one to Kyle's schedule in order to fulfill their contractual obligations to Mars. Looks like this is what they all agreed on. 4. The only time they work is if a driver dies, a track gets razed, or a series shuts down. Otherwise, they're idiotic. 8. Anon posted: 05.16.2020 - 6:01 pm Rate this comment: (4) (0) Fun fact about this entry list, only 3 drivers in the field have ever scored a top 5 finish at Darlington. The most recent not named Kyle Busch? Allgaier 9 years ago. The other? Joe Nemechek 25 years ago. The inexperience and lack of success for this field at this track, coupled with no practice or qualifying, will make for an interesting and unpredictable event. Remember too that Busch should start in the back based on how I read the qualifying rules. Driving through this field at this track could get hairy. I'm very excited for this event! 9. I'm not sure I'd go all in on the trend continuing to 5-for-5, but with several full-time previous series winners without a victory on the season (Annett, Allgaier, Chastain, Cindric, as well as Clements) and other series regulars looking surprisingly competent (Snider, Herbst) the possibility certainly exists. 13. Morgan Shepherd, Mike Harmon, and Hershel McGriff are a few of those specimens. I love how they race so often, even when they get into their 60s and 70s(of course, McGriff is 92, so yeah) and find enjoyment in it. Hopefully Morgan can get to race once more in his illustrious 50+ year career. 17. Mannoroth posted: 05.17.2020 - 7:05 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) 4. So guess what we will have at least one NASCAR series race on every day of the week scheduled in 2020 if you count the BlueGreen Vacations Duels earlier this year during Speedweeks. But I can happily say They're BACK!!!!!!!! And Boy have we missed them dearly. 19. Corey posted: 05.17.2020 - 9:03 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) @13,18 Not true. Kyle Busch had a flat tire and it's really hard to drive with it in the corners. Austin Dillon was coming in hot and chose the high line, where Kyle Busch was running and was lucky that he managed to pass him there, because there wasn't much room. And the most important thing, Kyle Busch hardly moved. If he really wanted to wreck him, he would turn into him way sooner. And if you don't know, the slipstream works, when running faster than 20 KPH (12.4 MPH). Why do you think the racecar drivers try so hard to get into everyone's slipstream as soon as possible at all cost? The same for professional cyclists, because not running in the slipstream = suicide and you waste your energy. Hell, have you even run faster than 25 MPH on a bike? When you run alone and you're about to catch up to someone in front of you running that fast, you will literally feel it. 178. That's why I'm wondering why you responded in @168 the way you did. Kyle Busch was running in the middle of turns in 3 and 4, whichever way Dillon was going to go (high or low), Busch was going to try and hit him. Because that's what Kyle does, ask Jr., Kes, or Elliott. Dillon went to the outside of him and got by him while Kyle got him loose by going into him. Kyle should have been on the bottom of the groove and out of other cars way with the damage he had. He still could have made it to the line without trying to wreck someone or purposely get in someone's way. It's called sportsmanship. He didn't have any then and not sure he does now. Most of the time when drivers run out of fuel or have a flat tire they get to the bottom of the track, last lap or not. Kyle drove like a tool. Yeah DA, I know how the slipstream works. It's also known as the draft. I've known how it works before you were even thought of. Kyle was in front with damage when Dillon was coming, and after Dillon passed Kyle he had no chance with damage he had. He STILL had the damage. Thus, there could be no slipstream due to the fact that Kyle had damage to the front of his car because of the blown tire and his aerodynamics to his car was "shot" because of it. No Slipstream. In short. Kyle couldn't draft or slipstream with the damage he had to his car, regardless of how fast he was going whether it was 20 mph or 190 mph. He should have got to the bottom of the track with the damage he had instead of trying to get in the way. It was humorous that he wanted NASCAR to throw a caution because of his own debris, lol. The fact he had debris on the track SHOULD tell you that he had a car incapable of drafting adequately. If so it was at bare minimum that wouldn't make a difference with how fast Dillon was coming. When Dillon went high to pass him and Dillon was going much faster than Kyle, that's when Kyle went even higher to try and wreck him or get in his way. You're wrong on this. Dillon even said Kyle tried to wreck him. It's why Dillon gave the "Kyle bow" after it was over. 183. Mannoroth posted: 05.24.2020 - 2:16 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 182. Sure, so Jimmie Johnson can fight for the lead with a failing engine, but Kyle Busch can't fight for the win in the final lap with a flat tire. Okay... 184. One HAS to slow down to control a car with a blown tire. You don't HAVE to slow down to control a car with motor issues, though the car may slow itself down as a result of said motor issues. 185. GG Regardless, Kyle Busch didn't win that race so Austin Dillon got the last laugh (or bow). Move on. 186. Mannoroth posted: 05.24.2020 - 7:21 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 184. Sure, exceptions, exceptions. Failing engine is fine, flat tire isn't. What about that oil line you will create, when your engine goes up in a smoke? That's not dangerous? Kyle would be an idiot to give up, when he saw that Daniel Suarez has the worse issues than him (seriously, no fuel is worse than a flat tire) and Austin Dillon just got lucky that he wasn't that far behind, otherwise he wouldn't make it. Kyle was still pretty fast on the straighaways, only those corners were slowing him down. 185. Last laugh? Heh, he only won the battle, not the war. Kyle Busch won 8 more races than him that year and Dillon's RCR failed to win the Owner's title, which JGR won via Daniel Suarez. Besides, Kyle Busch finally managed to win 4 consecutive races in the schedule in 2019, either way. It just wasn't in Xfinity, so Sam Ard (God bless his soul) is still the only one who did it. 187. rm posted: 05.30.2020 - 8:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Anyone know what happened to the #18 on the last lap here? Went from 13th with 3 to go to 18th at the finish. The last they showed of him, he was in the middle of a gaggle of 4-5 cars fighting for 10th, but after that the only thing I saw was him sliding down the scrolling ticker at the top. I would think if there was a wreck they would have made some kind of a mention of it, even if it's only exactly that - a mention. Best I can tell, every position between 10th and 18th changed on the last lap (besides McLeod in 15th), so clearly something was going on, just wish they would have showed us exactly what that something was. 188. They made it a long time but unfortunately the $ finally seems to have finally ran out for ole Morgan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
