Lap 50 #1 wheel hops and spins in Turn 1 also was hit by the #2. Lap 59 #98 spins Turn 2. #5 Had a dead battery and needed to go behind the wall before the start. #16 has a loose sway bar or other suspension damage. NASCAR was fed up with drivers taking too long at the choose box. Penalized the #10 and #61 and sent them to the back. #66 might've lost a cylinder. 29. Anonymous posted: 04.10.2021 - 11:25 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Whole lot of wheel hopping so far, some ending in spinouts and some ending in frantic saves. Wonder if it's a result of the track surface (low grip, rubber washed away) + the weather conditions (cool, rainy, nighttime) or if there's something that all of the teams are doing with the setups that is causing this 30. Tarheel posted: 04.10.2021 - 11:51 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 23, I'm pretty sure there's room for the haulers from both series. Nascar has run the trucks and cup on the same weekend with qualifying and practice for both series. I'm sure it's tight, but unless I missed something it has been done before. 31. Canadianfan posted: 04.10.2021 - 12:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @30 It's not according to Bob Pockrass. Xfinity haulers were moved out this morning around 2:30am EDT. 32. possum posted: 04.10.2021 - 1:19 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @29 - probably both. The teams likely chose their front shock settings based on previous races where the track had more grip. Now it's not quite so sticky they're getting too much weight transfer forward under braking and the drivers need to compensate by adjusting their brake bias, and moving their braking points back a little. 33. Canadianfan posted: 04.10.2021 - 1:19 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) A series of tweets and answers from Bob Pockrass: Xfinity race is resuming Sunday for two main reasons: logistics of Xfinity haulers inside track and Cup haulers needing to come in ... and having delayed so late, would have been a quick turnaround (staffing/infrastructure/broadcast etc) for then a full day/night tomorrow. I think they'd figure out way to run both Sunday. Another issue last night is it was so late and with teams not having hotels/plans to stay, there were concerns about team members safely getting back to Charlotte area 3-4amish and then back to Martinsville in morning to race. The Xfinity cars are under covers in the garage, which, especially with COVID protocols, is a fairly secure area. They also would have security cameras running in the garage during a race weekend. One thing I overlooked last night when talking about why Sunday is Xfinity teams weren't planning on staying so getting out of track at 1-2am and driving back to Charlotte area (2+ hours) and then returning this morning a few hrs before resumption didn't seem like safest option. Sprinkling at track right now. With teams getting cars into garages after 1am, then headed back 2+ hrs to Charlotte, there were concerns about asking them to return by 9-10am. Plus staffing/broadcast/etc turnaround likely tough ask. And Cup haulers/teams need to park/unload/tech 34. Tarheel posted: 04.10.2021 - 2:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 31, thanks. I always thought they crammed two series worth of haulers in there at once. It's not looking real good for getting the entire Cup race in tonight either. 35. Anthony posted: 04.10.2021 - 5:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The Truck and Cup Haulers were never all crammed in the infield together. Truck teams always parked outside the track and teams pushed the trucks in and their garages were on the front stretch and car covers and those canopy things were put up. 37. Corey posted: 04.10.2021 - 5:14 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @34 Those were also pre-covid times, where the number of people were less of a concern. 38. rm posted: 04.11.2021 - 12:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Daniel Hemric came out swinging upon the race restart, quickly taking the lead and the stage 2 win. There were a pair of incidents, one coming when Ryan Vargas apparently ran into the back of someone on the restart and suffered terminal nose damage (no replay shown); the other came when Josh Williams cut a tire while racing with Myatt Snider and spun out. Race control held Williams for a penalty, deeming that he spun intentionally. A.J. Allmendinger got the free pass and is back on the lead lap. 39. rm posted: 04.11.2021 - 12:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The caution for the spin by Williams came in the closing laps of stage 2, leading to some split pit strategy among the lead lap cars. Hemric got the stage win over new foe Noah Gragson, but the action was a little further down the running order. There was nearly a full straightaway between stage winner Hemric and 6th-place Tommy Joe Martins at the stage end, even though the time between the cautions was just 10 laps. JD Motorsports' other rookie driver, Colby Howard, found himself in a similar situation to teammate Vargas when Howard backed into the wall hard courtesy of contact with Kyle Weatherman. Howard is back on track, but 9 laps down. 40. rm posted: 04.11.2021 - 12:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) And now we've hit double digits in cautions as Jeremy Clements sends Brandon Gdovic for a spin. A followup on Howard: he returned to the race, much to the chagrin of his rear bumper cover, which was doing its best to fly off the back of his car. Howard's pit crew had to remove it under the caution, though his crew will have a hard time refueling the car in the unlikely instance that they need to do so from here on out. 41. Not sure what the issue is but the crew pushed him behind the wall. Graf is done for the day now. 48. rm posted: 04.11.2021 - 1:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Six slower cars stayed out ahead of the restart, leading to a few nailbiting laps as all but leader Bayley Currey and Stefan Parsons immediately stacked up the field. Currey held on for a few laps before ceding to Josh Berry and Ty Gibbs. Gibbs took the lead from Berry, and the pair were running nose-to-tail until another yellow came out, this time for Alex Labbe spinning after contact with Myatt Snider and Brandon Gdovic. 49. rm posted: 04.11.2021 - 1:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Berry is in the lead now and is in a solid position to pick up his first win.
