if i remember right, PJ Jones and his crew changed a rear end gear or
transmission in this race (maybe it was the first race?) at the half
time break, lost a few laps because he didnt rejoin the field before the
second half began and made up the two or three laps he lost.

Rick Hendrick and his team field a NASCAR Truck series entry for the
first time with the multi-talented Ken Schrader hoping behind the wheel
of the new DuPont #24 Chevy to make his only Winter Heat start. Schrader
had an image for be willing to race pretty much anything and jumped at
the chance to race one of the new NASCAR Trucks.

Jones' victory here was his only one of Winter Heat and his only one in
a longer, series-like truck race. He also won the first-ever Truck race
at Mesa Marin the prior July.

Mike Joy and Buddy Baker were the commentators. Glenn Jarrett was the
sole pit road reporter.
