I wonder how long it took NASCAR to figure out the winner and give an official decision? 3. I'm not sure which to believe, but TruckSeries.com says that the margin was .3 seconds. 6. It was quite a battle for the checkers. 7. Truckfan posted: 11.13.2008 - 8:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Is there any photos or videos of this race? 8. The number switch was due to Peter Daniels and the Carnes #34 being entered. 9. Bramblegrunt posted: 06.28.2017 - 12:31 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) This race featured a lot of quick spins and classic short track damaged fenders. A real fun moment in the race came as the leaders approached a ton of lapped traffic around lap 174. Hornaday had just given up the lead and was fighting with Sedgwick, who he pinched down, Sedgwick did a 360 but just as he finished the 360 he hit TJ Clark who then in turn did a 360 of his own Extremely close finish and well fought race for Butch Miller. Hornaday led the most laps from pole. Once Miller got the lead, Tobey Butler, a lapped Ford truck started working for Butch to try to gap him and Skinner on the restart so that Ford could win (back then lapped cars/trucks would line up on the inside of the leaders) but Skinner dispatched of him leading to a great battle with 5 laps to go. With 2 laps to go Butch got caught up by TJ Clark as he came to lap him giving Skinner an opportunity to dive to the inside. Skinner held an advantage on the inside as they came to the checkers, but Miller was able to use the outside lane momentum to JUST nip Skinner at the line. Miller, elated at the finish did some early-NASCAR days donuts in celebration much to the fans' delight. Miller admitted in the post race interviews that he was "a bit rusty" in passing lapped traffic as the leader. Never the less it was a hugely popular win for the journeyman driver 19. They claim it was 0.001, not 0.0001 21. Alex posted: 05.21.2018 - 7:45 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "I don't know if that .0001 stat is accurate. I don't think NASCAR'S Timing system can go to Ten Thousandths" Correct. The timing system goes to only thousandth (0.001) of a second. What this means is that any other digits are insignificant. To the official NASCAR computers, anything less than 0.001 seconds, including 0.0009 seconds, will register as 0.000 (which is what everybody saw on the NASCAR website when the Xfinity finish happened). The system may be calculating digits at the ten thousandth, but to actually have a system that measures to a significant ten thousandth (0.0001) of a second (which I believe only IndyCar and NHRA use) would require a system that measures an insignificant hundred thousandth (0.00001) of a second. Whatever timing systems were used here might be the same style used at Daytona. NASCAR, in all official publications, has this particular Truck race as 0.0001 sec, including in the 1996 Preview and Press Guide. This would be akin to looking at a ruler that measures to the 1/16 of an inch and saying that something is "1 17/32 inches long." I would be curious, though, as to where the figures came from. But to turn around and say "Oops we made a mistake back then" when what you have today is the same as what you have today... 22. The "Get Well Stan" message on Dennis Wooldridge's #10 Made for You entry was in reference to racer Stan Fox who had made two starts for the #10 team earlier in the season. This was the team's first Truck race after Fox was severely injured in a horrific first lap crash at the Indianapolis 500; Fox would eventually recover but never raced again before his death in 2000. This was also Wooldridge's third and final Truck series start. 23. I'm watching the race on youtube and he had an oil line come off and caused a fire in the right front wheel well. 24. It was his first big win in 4 years and would be his 3rd and final major NASCAR win. Celebrations done by burning out or spinning out are fun like this when they don't seem so obligatory like they became later. 25.
