Rich Bickle had horrible luck that year. He won the pole but finished last.

Race scheduled distance was 250 laps. It was extended to 253 laps due to
a green-white-checkered finish.

Three trucks failed to qualify. Unfortunatly the CBS broadcast did not
say who.

Actually Bickle won the pole 3 races earlier at Portland Raceway to
accomplish that feat for Petty Enterprises

CBS failed to mention DNQ's due to baseball running long luckly they cut
in just before taking the green flag they ended up showing the starting
line up during the opening laps

After the second "halftime" break Butch Miller had an issue and nearly
wrecked and found himself in the 10th spot. Miller's truck was strong
and got Hensley for 2nd late in the going but used his truck up and
couldn't do anything with Skinner.
