The Modifieds had a huge wreck on the frontstretch which required a red flag, and I believe the Busch North cars had a red flag for a crash as well, which pushed back the start time of the Truck race, and caused many fans (including myself) to leave before the end of the Truck race. Also, Steve Park ran in all three races that day. 7. Jeff posted: 05.28.2009 - 7:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ahh, this was a great day. The North Series consi was run in drizzle, and most of the day was some sort of cold and damp. Notably, the day before, the Busch North and Modified teams ran their doubleheader that had been postponed from a July rainout, so Steve Park actually ran five races in two days (with three top tens and two wrecks, if memory serves). Of note... - Mike McLaughlin was originally scheduled to run the Roehrig #18 but ran the Busch race in Richmond instead after it was rained out from Friday night. Park was asked to substitute, and was the first driver to run laps at speed while others got accustomed to the track. - I'm not sure if Ken Bouchard's team used the owner points from the Vessels team. His truck, though, was straight off the Brevak hauler, a 1995 Ford with the "3" taped over on the doors and roof. I never expected it would make the end of the race. - The end of the race was spectacular. Hornaday was the only driver willing to touch the outside groove, and when Sprague and Ruttman spun each other in turn 4, he scooted past to take the win. An honorable mention to Jimmy Hensley, who spun backwards down the frontstretch en route to the checkers and backed his truck into the outside pit wall. 8. He had two top tens in the tripleheader, and was involved in the huge crash in the Modified race (while he was running in the top 3 I believe). I completely forgot about the doubleheader the day before, but he did have another top 10 and crash that day. I miss those old consolation races for the Busch North Series that they ran at mid-morning on the day of the race, nothing better than getting to Loudon early and seeing cars out on the track right away. 9. 00andJoe posted: 10.02.2011 - 4:29 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #1 owner: Bob Brevak 10. 83andJoe posted: 06.24.2013 - 9:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #65 status: Handling 11. 83andJoe posted: 06.24.2013 - 10:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #16 crew chief: Doug Williams #18 crew chief: Scott Eggleston #31 crew chief: Larry Nau (same for all 1996 races) #80 crew chief: Randy Goss (same for all 1996 races) #98 crew chief: Gary Showalter (same for all 1996 races) #31 sponsor: Concor Tool & Machine #65 sponsor: AAG Racing #85 sponsor: Bobby Gerhart's Truck World #90 sponsor: Macklanburg-Duncan/Oklahoma City 12. 83andJoe posted: 06.24.2013 - 10:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) To the rear: Ernie Irvan (#28) driver change First caution: #65, #1 accident turn 2 Second caution: Competition Third caution: #15, #33, #17, #21, #27 accident turn 2 Fourth caution: #44, #16, #98 accident turn 4 Fifth caution: #90, #27 spin turn 1 Sixth caution: Debris Seventh caution: #21 blown engine Eighth caution: #75, #2 accident turn 4 13. 83andJoe posted: 06.25.2013 - 11:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) > First career Truck Series start for Ken Bouchard > Best career Truck Series finish for Bobby Gerhart 14. 83andJoe posted: 07.07.2013 - 1:31 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #9 owner: Joe Bessey. Though he wasn't a good Cup driver and was decent in Xfinity, he is probably the best Truck driver of all time. And seeing how it's the NASCAR Hall of Fame and not just the Monster Energy Cup Series Hall of Fame, Ron has a place in there, in my opinion. 17. nascar_vd / racing-reference.info posted: 04.24.2018 - 11:23 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) C1996-18 Awards Busch Pole Award: Mike Skinner Gatorade Front Runner Award: Jack Sprague Plasti-Kote Winning Finish Award: Dennis Connor (#24) Ventvisor Brand Super Deflector Award: Jack Sprague Featherlite Trailers Long Haul Award: Ron Hornaday, Jr. Cintas Rookie-Of-The-Race Award: Bryan Reffner 18.
