It's a shame he didn't last longer in Trucks 8. 1995z71 posted: 07.03.2013 - 4:32 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) To expand on Post #4 Bickle hit Said off course which slowed Said way down. Said then drove around the track slowly, waiting for Bickle, going a lap down in the process. Said then rammed Bickle off course. 9. 83andJoe posted: 09.05.2013 - 1:38 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #55 crew chief: Ernie Cope 10. It really was a shame for Rezendes who as stated, was having his last great run of his career and in an unsponsored truck. They were really eyeing him to be their future driver but that didnt materialize into a long term deal. He dominated the race when pit strategy wasnt in play but he spun while leading (TV did not capture what caused it but it could have been mechanical). He hooked it right into the tire barrier exiting the Esses and basically careened hard nearly back into the track. The Said-Bickle incident happened on the restart right before the Rezendes crash. Rezendes had traditionally been a very slow restarter to the green and it bottled up the field behind him. In the chaos, Said tried very hard to gain many spots but found himself overdriving into Bickle. Bickle took exception to this and hard-armed him off the track going down the hill. Said wanted revenge and he slowed the entire rest of his lap to get lapped and get caught by Bickle where he intentionally shoved Bickle right into the hill after the carousel. This led to a WILD last lap dash under green where Ruttman and Tom Hubert fought wheel to wheel for just about 3/4 of the last lap. Hubert nearly had this thing one but found himself on the outside of Ruttman in the carousel. Ruttman powered off the turn and was able to pull away. Hubert tried everything he had and ran off the track in the esses in his effort but still held on to 2nd There were also numerous trucks that found themselves in very precarious crashes in the race besides just Rezendes. Randy Nelson got briefly airborne after a spinning Rick McCray and himself got together. Rick Crawford, Tony Roper and Bryan Reffner all had also made run ins with hills and tire barriers in the race. Also Brian Cunningham the grandson of Briggs Cunningham had a great run in the race and ran top 5/10 almost the entire way but had his engine fail late. Ricky Johnson and Joe Bean also had very solid runs the entire race as well. 11. Future Cup champion Kevin Harvick was the only driver in this race who would go on to be in that event decades later. Harvick qualified great and had the #75 Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet up in the top-10 early on, running as high as third at one point, before the pickup developed a mechanical problem that lead to the handling issues that put him back on the hauler early. The #75 stopped on the track before he was able to refire and drive it away but it retired shortly thereafter.
