Stacy Compton puts on a dominating performance for his first win,
leading all but two laps.

NOTE:Big Daddy's BBQ Sauce on Jack Sprague's truck? They must have been
desperate!

Yeah Quaker State didn't return as the primary sponsor after last year's
championship season. This was one of the sponsors before GMAC came
aboard. I'm sure Big Daddy's paid the bill for this one. I'm also sure
Rick Hendrick would see to that.

Greg Biffle got black flagged for jumping the start and later got caught
up in a wreck trying to get back through the field. I don't know if he
would have had anything for Compton that day.

Couple of corrections -

Race average speed was 62.101 and Biffle's pole speed was 88.435.

Compton's win here was the only one at Portland for a Ford F-150; the
prior three races had been won by Mike Skinner, Ron Hornaday, Jr., and
Rich Bickle in Chevrolet trucks.

The Truck series replaced this race for 1999 with an event at the
Portland International Raceway road course.

Compton was untouchable but Randy Tolsma didn't let go of 2nd at any
point either; terrific run for him as aside from his win at Mesa Marin a
year earlier he had only one other top-5 finish to that point in his
career.

Greg Biffle earns his first career Truck Series pole in just his fourth
career start. The two laps he led at the start of this race, the only
ones all day that would be led by someone other than Stacy Compton,
before his black flag were the first laps he ever led in his Truck
Series career.

Biffle got the jump, was black flagged, then caused the second caution
when he got into the #84. Watching the race on YouTube, Ken and Buddy
complete skip why the accident occurred instead to congratulate Joe
Nemechek and Phil Parsons on their runs at Talladega for the Busch
division.
