A Lowes...as if we need another one of those. 6. Andy S posted: 05.16.2008 - 11:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, I lived 35 minutes away. Both the track and Blewett III are history now. Thorson's only victory until tonight. Go Matt Crafton! 7. In his actual four starts in the series he never finished higher than 22nd (again at Flemington in 1996) 8. gary24fan posted: 06.06.2010 - 2:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) DNQ's John Blewett was in truck #05 and George Brunnhoelzl in truck #40 9. I loved how after the race they let us meet the drivers - I got a piece of Andy Houston's car, I got it signed by him, Greg Biffle, and others. I'm glad I caught at least one race at Flemington. 10. 83andJoe posted: 08.19.2013 - 1:11 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Race name should be "Stevens Biel" etc., not "Stevens Bell". 11. Hated it so badly for him, but good to see Terry Cook win 12. Duke Thorson's first victory, and their only victory for the next 10 years. 13. Terry Cook's best career finish before this race was a 10th at Fort Worth in a race where half the field DNF. The series returned to having the halftime rules in this race because Flemington didn't have a pit road where you could have live pit stops. They mentioned during the broadcast they were willing to build a pit road before the next years race, so they obviously didn't want to lose the Truck Series. This ended up being the last race there anyway. Likely due to not enough seating and limited fields and purses. I think about something Ned Jarrett said several times during race broadcasts from 1996 and 97. One of the reasons all 3 top Nascar series are growing and popular is all 3 are different. They all 3 run their races at so many different and unique tracks. Compare that to Darrell Waltrip, who any time he could during the few Busch and truck races he worked, would keep beating the drum about the need to change the Busch and Truck Series to make them more like Winston Cup. 17. 1995-Subaru-WRX-Sti posted: 04.20.2020 - 1:08 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) "would keep beating the drum about the need to change the Busch and Truck Series to make them more like Winston Cup." TV networks and sponsers wanted it that way. While NASCAR has given them some of their own identity back... Xfinity and Truck like that again unless NASCAR puts their foot down (which they are afraid too do.) 18. Jimnsimforever posted: 04.20.2020 - 3:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @17 I agree with you. I feel like to be fair I should give DW's reasoning behind wanting them to be like Cup back then. He felt it would help the drivers be further along by the time they made it up to Cup, which is fair. Obviously that doesn't take into account the drivers who were going to drive their entire careers in the lower 2 series, becoming stars in their own right there, and also doesn't take into account the most important thing of all, the fans who became fans of those series as they were. 19. But that isn't happening as long as the checks clear. I also find is extremely lazy of TV net works not sending booth people too the race track and just have them in studio. But i guess it saves money. 21.
