This was an exciting season! 3. Darrell posted: 01.28.2007 - 7:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Lonnie Rush DNQ's and buys out the 75 ride. I know at some point, Harvick DNQ'd in the 75. That was one of only two occasions the 75 hasn't appeared in a CTS race. 4. most posted: 12.08.2007 - 3:50 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Until the 2008 season, no more #75 :( Hopefully someone buys the # and runs it at least... 5. Harvick skipped this race because of his K&N West commitments, and Wayne Spears put Lonnie Rush in the truck instead. 11. The record would stand for 4 years until it was broken by Dennis Setzer winning from 33rd in the 2002 season. @3 and 10 Wayne Spears didn't own the truck Lonnie Rush drove. It was Rush's normal #10 truck and they just put #75 on it instead. 14. Jimnsimforever posted: 04.20.2020 - 10:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #43 Jimmy Hensley crew chief: Fred Wanke 15. Ralphie posted: 04.21.2020 - 9:56 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) If that's true #13, then why did they use Spears' usual crew chief for the race instead of Rush's usual crew chief? 16. Jimnsimforever posted: 04.22.2020 - 4:08 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) It was likely Rush's normal crew chief, Daly. It was beneficial for both teams. Lonnie Rush's team by running the race with the 75 on the truck got to use a provisional from a team quite a bit higher in the owner points than they were. Wayne Spears got to have the owner points for running the race without running it. It was something that happened back then from time to time. Technically the owner would be listed as Spears even though it was Rush's team running the race with the Spears team's number on the side. 17. danny posted: 06.21.2020 - 6:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This race will get the Fox Greatest Races treatment and be the next race to be re-aired since the virus, The Trucks have gotten a handful re-airs but not Nashville, but is a good time to do it yes, and yes Nashville is coming back next year the big track so why not give us a Nashville Fairgrounds race from 1998 and yes we got it! I know it will be airing in Early July I see but set your DVR it will be on late. 18. A great race with great racing from start to finish with a deserving first-time winner in Gentleman Jimmy Hensley. After his stint in The Cup Series ended in 1995 with minimal success, Hensley tried his hand in The Truck Series, Competing for Grier Lackey in '95 and '96 with strong finishes but no wins. Hensley would then join Petty Enterprises in '97 and the strong runs continued but still no wins with some glimpses of almost, especially at IRP that ended in ultimate heartache thanks to a late restart. 1998 was struggling to start, but from Bristol onward, Hensley and crew got the ball rolling with strong runs week after week. Then the day happened at Nashville as Hensley, with a beat up #43 on the driver's side, held off all challengers and pulled into victory lane for the first time. A great win by a great driver. 20. Didn't make his series debut until age 49, after 343 starts in the top 2 series. Went on to win 2 races & record 4 top-10 finishes in points in 5 full-time seasons. I miss the days when the Truck Series used to be a home for former Cup/Xfinity drivers after they had retired from those series. 21. SweetRich posted: 07.02.2020 - 12:19 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Hensley was a great driver. Yes, he mostly ran part-time in The Cup Series racing for numerous teams over the years. His Xfinity Series career is more remembered cause he was a constant contender for the championship in the first decade of the series until trying his hand in The Cup Series in 1992. He would become a truck mainstay from '96 to '01 with great success from '96 to '99, competing for Grier Lackey and Richard Petty. The famous quote rings true with Hensley and that is the man could drive a race car, and he was darn good at it, regardless of series, owner or decade. 22. Truck owner and NASCAR legend Richard Petty was present for this one to watch as the iconic #43 Dodge returned to a national NASCAR victory lane for the first time since 1977. Hensley was the third-straight first-time winner in the Truck Series after Andy Houston's win at Loudon and Terry Cook's win at Flemington. Virginia short tracker Shayne Lockhart makes his Truck series debut and recovers from a late spin to still finish 19th in his plain white #33 Chevrolet. 25. Barfield spun on lap 132 on the backstretch after contact with Lonnie Rush, Jr. but everyone missed him and he was able to continue. On lap 156 Barfield and Rush might had gotten together again as Rush's renumbered #75 Chevy ended up in the outside wall in Turn 3 on lap 156 and out of the race with Rush then picking up some Speedy Dry that was put down to clean up liquid from the track and throwing it at Barfield's truck. The Circle Bar #14 Ford had a Robert Yates Racing-sourced engine for this one and it was a fast truck as a result. Rick Crawford put it third on the grid and finished there at the end of the race although he never led. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
